Chapter 439 Astonishing Speculation

The Wilson fam had this crazy token that only some big-shot Cross Christianity master would have. Ethan was totally floored by it!

"When'd you find it, and where?" Ethan finally asked, eyebrows all scrunched up.

"It was the year your folks had their accident, right after Herman bailed. Found it in his old crib," Elmer said, squinting like he was trying to remember. "If I wasn't so damn good at what I do, I would've missed it! Kept it on the down-low till now. You're the second person to ever see it!"

"Herman had a Cross Christianity token? You saying he was in bed with them?" Ethan was getting more and more sketched out.

"Dunno for sure, but Herman vanished after that, like poof! And I know you're digging for the truth about your dad. Got a feeling Cross Christianity's mixed up in this. Maybe this'll help you figure it out," Elmer went on.

"I'll hang onto it. You can bounce now," Ethan said after a long pause.

But Elmer just stood there, like he didn't hear.

Ethan frowned harder. "I get it, you're trying to show you had nothing to do with my dad's mess by bringing this up now. I'll buy it for now. But I can't believe Herman could hide so well and then leave something this big behind!"

"I know how to find Herman!" Elmer blurted out.

"What did you just say?" Ethan's eyes went wide.

"I've been snooping around Cross Christianity and found traces of Herman in a bunch of countries. He's definitely tied to them, but I got no clue whose token this is! Maybe finding Herman will clear things up!" Elmer had been secretly digging and had some of his suspicions confirmed.

"Leave the hunt to me. I'll get it done faster," Ethan decided, his tone leaving no room for argument.

"Hope this is the start of us working together, easing some of your worries. Makes things smoother down the line," Elmer said seriously.

"Just go if you're done. I know what to do," Ethan nodded, tucking away the cross-shaped token.

This time, Elmer didn't stick around and vanished from Ethan's office in a flash.

"Cross Christianity, huh? What a bombshell! If Herman's really with them, then besides Brady, who else in the Wilson fam could be in on it?" Ethan thought, zeroing in on Brady.

He'd always thought Brady had a hand in Herman's disappearance to cover up Matthew's death. Now he was even more sure of it!

But he never expected Brady, the Wilson fam's head honcho, to be tied to Cross Christianity!

If Elmer hadn't spilled the beans and someone else found out about Brady's connection, the whole Wilson fam could be in deep trouble!

Cross Christianity couldn't get a foothold in Vexa 'cause of Celestia Vale!

Elmer seemed pretty solid on this. By spilling such crucial info, he showed he was loyal to the Wilson fam and not in cahoots with Brady!

"You didn't mess with Logan, did you?" Beverly asked Trevor softly in the office.

"You said not to hurt him, so I just scared him off. My Half-Step Grandmaster status should be enough to make him wet his pants!" Trevor said casually, like he totally got why Ethan gave him the job.

Logan might not be a big deal, but he sure was a pain in the neck!

Plus, Logan had some special status, and not just anyone could make him back off. Ethan couldn't always be there to help Beverly deal with Logan.

"Ethan said you're Jessie's godson?" Beverly nodded, looking relieved, then asked curiously.

"Yup, just made it official!" Trevor nodded.

"Then why are you bald?" Beverly kept going.

Trevor didn't mind sharing his past, so he gave Beverly the lowdown, including how he met Ethan.

The more Beverly listened, the more hooked she got, wanting to hear every detail.

"Why don't you tell her how you broke your vow of celibacy?" Ethan walked into Beverly's office, grinning and teasing Trevor.

Trevor's face turned beet red. That embarrassing story had already been a lesson in front of Chloe and the others, so no way he was gonna spill it again!

Especially not in front of Beverly!

"What vow of celibacy? You broke it when you were a monk?" Beverly asked, eyes wide.

"Yeah, but it was all a setup! Now I'm back to normal life, so let's drop it!" Trevor quickly explained, shooting Ethan a resentful look.

"Don't give me that look. I'm just setting you up for success. If you wanna be a regular guy, here's your shot. I'll help you this far; the rest is on you!" Ethan laughed and then told the still-confused Beverly, "Trevor's in your hands. Train him well."

With that, Ethan left Beverly's office, not giving Trevor a chance to object.

He'd put Trevor with Beverly to help her out and give Trevor a shot at a normal life.

Ethan thought this match was perfect for both of them. Whether they'd hit it off was up to fate!

It wasn't until Ethan left that Beverly got what he meant by "train." She avoided Trevor's gaze, her cheeks turning pink.

Trevor felt even more embarrassed, wishing he could just disappear!

He'd thought Ethan assigned him to protect Beverly just to keep the pests away!

Speaking of pests, after being kicked out of the Cloud Group, Logan immediately called Zephyr, whining about what happened and blaming him for the useless bodyguards.

"Ethan got a Half-Step Grandmaster to guard Beverly?" Zephyr was shocked when he heard that!
