He really couldn't understand how a gentle and kind girl like Chloe could have such an ambitious, power-hungry mother.

Ethan couldn't help but clench his fists. He would never allow such a thing to happen to Chloe!
"I could hear you all arguing from inside the room. What's all the commotion about? Do you think this is a marketplace?" Percival's strong voice immediately made Munro's face flush with embarrassment. The apprentices all lowered their heads in fear, showing just how deeply Percival's authority was rooted in everyone's hearts!
But the more it was like this, the more Cherry felt a sense of crisis!
For the first time, Cherry had the thought of wanting Percival to die immediately!
But this thought only flashed through her mind!
"Dad, are you really okay?" Munro hurriedly stepped forward, supporting Percival and asking anxiously.
"Let go. I'm fine. I don't need anyone's help! What do you mean by that? Do you not want me to be okay?" Percival shook off Munro's hand and angrily questioned him.
"Dad, I didn't mean that! I wish you a long life!" Munro was startled and quickly shook his head to explain.
"Good. Don't think I don't know what you're all thinking. As long as I'm alive, the Miller family won't be yours to mess with! Today, in front of these apprentices, I'm making it clear. If none of you are fit to be the future head of the Miller family, I'd rather choose someone else!" Percival glared at Munro and coldly snorted, clearly very angry.
Hearing this, Munro's face turned extremely ugly, but he didn't dare to say a word in rebuttal!
Everyone knew that Percival's word was law in the Miller family, and no one could argue with him.
Of course, the only exceptions might be Chloe and Lyra!
Percival doted on these two little princesses the most, even more than Merrick's youngest son!
"Dad, that's not a joke. You've just recovered from a serious illness; you should rest. This isn't something to discuss in front of outsiders. Let's talk about it when we get home." Cherry stepped forward at this moment, smiling as she tried to persuade Percival.
Seeing this, Ethan couldn't help but sneer inwardly, 'Cherry could win an Oscar for her acting; anyone who didn't know better would think she was so filial to Percival!'
"What's wrong with saying it in front of others? Do I have something to hide? I don't know that everything Munro has done over the years was under your direction. Who agreed to the marriage with the Ashford family? Are you planning to marry Chloe off to them?" Percival was infuriated as he questioned.
"Chloe and Kenny are quite a match, and the marriage with the Ashford family would definitely elevate the Miller family's status. We're doing this for the Miller family!" Cherry's face turned a few shades paler. Facing Percival, she instinctively felt a deep-seated fear, clearly having been reprimanded by Percival many times over the years.
"Nice words. You always claim it's for the Miller family! Since when did we need to trade for benefits this way? When Munro insisted on marrying you, did I oppose it because of your humble background? Did I ever covet the Mitchell family?" Percival's anger only intensified as he questioned her.
Cherry was left speechless, her face alternating between green and pale!
"Grandpa, please don't get angry. Take care of your health! You've just recovered!" Chloe quickly stepped forward, holding Percival's arm and speaking with concern. She also gave her mother a way out.
"Grandpa is standing up for you! I say a few words to your mom, and you feel sorry for her?" Percival looked at Chloe with a bitter smile, then glared at Cherry and scolded, "Look, even now Chloe is defending you! What have you done for her?"
Cherry's face turned red with embarrassment, and she could only lower her head in silence to avoid giving Percival another reason to get angry.
In her heart, she blamed everything on Ethan. To her, the situation had escalated to this point entirely because of Ethan. She deeply regretted not having killed him when she first learned of his existence.
"Dad, Cherry is absolutely doing this for the Miller family and Chloe's happiness. No matter what, her intentions are good. If you must scold, can we do it at home?" Munro also spoke up to defend Cherry.
"At home? Of course, I need to go home! If I don't, Chloe will be sold off by you! I'm making it clear today. The marriage with the Ashford family is canceled. If the Ashford family has a problem with it, they can come to me!" Percival coldly snorted, announcing the cancellation of the marriage with the Ashford family.
"No, if we cancel the marriage with the Ashford family now, our relationship with them will be affected, possibly even turning them into enemies. Percival, please don't act impulsively!" Cherry panicked upon hearing this. The marriage with the Ashford family was the result of her long-term planning. She couldn't accept that Percival would completely overturn it as soon as he recovered!
"Are you saying my words don't count anymore and the Miller family should under your leadership?" Percival's aura suddenly became sharp, his piercing eyes fixed on Cherry as he questioned her.
Cherry felt her breath tighten, her face pale, and she was unable to say a word.
"Dad, Cherry didn't mean that. The Miller family is naturally under your command. Since you don't agree with the marriage to the Ashford family, then it won't happen!" Munro quickly expressed his stance. He knew Percival's temper all too well; if he didn't compromise now, Cherry would really be in trouble!
"You shut up, too! Stop standing around here. All of you get out!" Percival's tense expression finally relaxed a bit as he impatiently snorted.
"When will you come back? I'll have someone clean up the house and send someone to pick you up," Munro cautiously asked.
"It is none of your concern. If I go back, I'll go with Chloe. Now get out of my sight. You're all annoying me!" Percival said as he turned and walked back into the room.
Ethan couldn't help but give Percival a thumbs-up behind his back. He was truly impressive!
