Chapter 426 Keep Something in Reserve
Even though Sharon had been heartless before, she still popped up in Ethan's life now and then. Ethan tried to act like he didn't care, but seeing her always stirred something in him. Eventually, though, those feelings faded.
But after what Jessie said, Ethan knew he probably wouldn't see Sharon again.
Maybe this was the end of their story, and Sharon's final explanation.
Time passed, and Chloe and the others found Ethan alone on the rooftop, standing in the cold wind under the moonlight. They felt sorry for him.
They couldn't see his face clearly, and they might not see him cry again, but they knew he had his vulnerable moments and needed comfort.
Feeling their warm hands on his arms, Ethan turned and smiled at them. "Why are you all here?"
"Jessie said you were in a bad mood and asked us to check on you," Sarah explained, pouting.
"I'm fine, just needed some time alone. Let's go inside; it's cold up here," Ethan said, leading them off the rooftop.
Back inside, Ethan noticed it was already midnight, and Jessie had taken Camila to bed. Since recognizing Jessie as her grandmother, Camila had been sleeping with her every night. Jessie adored Camila.
"I need to ask you all something," Ethan said seriously, gathering everyone in his room.
"What is it? It better not be anything weird. Jessie's still here, so don't do anything stupid," Sarah warned, looking suspicious.
Alice, Chloe, and Hannah blushed at her words.
"You're the one with the weird thoughts! I'm serious. What are you thinking?" Ethan shot back.
"What do you want to ask?" Chloe asked, curious.
"Do you all want to train with me?" Ethan asked seriously.
Chloe looked surprised.
"Sure, I've wanted to learn for a while but thought you wouldn't have time to teach me," Sarah said quickly.
Alice, already curious about martial arts, had no objections.
But Hannah looked troubled. "Do we really need to? I'm not that interested in martial arts."
"It's not about interest. I want you to have some self-defense skills and also to keep up with me," Ethan explained.
"You mean training can make us live longer, maybe even live forever and stay young?" Sarah asked, eyes wide with excitement.
"Exactly. If you don't train, in a few decades, I'll still be young while you all grow old and leave me," Ethan said with a bittersweet smile.
"Well, when you put it that way, how can we say no? But the training won't be too hard, right?" Chloe asked nervously.
The idea of eternal youth and staying with Ethan forever was too tempting to resist, even for Hannah, who quickly agreed.
But if the training was too tough, could they really handle it? They didn't have much confidence, after all, they knew nothing about this stuff!
"If you were just regular people, training would be a pipe dream," Ethan said, seeing their interest.
"But we are regular people. What's different about us?" Chloe asked, puzzled.
"You have me, your awesome husband! With my help, you'll improve quickly," Ethan boasted.
"You're so full of yourself! Are you really that good?" Sarah asked skeptically.
"You'll see. Two at a time, who wants to go first?" Ethan asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Sarah and I will go first! Do we need to do anything?" Chloe asked nervously.
"Just stand still," Ethan said, pulling out three silver needles in each hand. He quickly inserted them into Chloe and Sarah's lower abdomens. This time, he didn't rush to remove the needles but transferred the converted super energy into their bodies all at once.
The process took about half an hour. By the end, Ethan was sweating profusely as he removed the needles.
"Ethan, are you okay?" Hannah asked, handing him a towel and helping him wipe his sweat.
"I'm fine," Ethan said, eyes fixed on Chloe and Sarah, who were still feeling the super energy flow through their bodies.
Ethan had not only transferred the super energy but also helped them run through the first layer of the ZF knack's method. This meant they didn't need to memorize it; their super energy would automatically follow the method's path, essentially practicing martial arts all the time.
If Angela knew Ethan had kept this trick from her, would she be mad?
"Is this the super energy you warriors talk about?" Chloe asked, eyes sparkling as she felt the warm energy flowing through her.
The late-night drowsiness was long gone.
"This feels amazing. But didn't you tell Remington you couldn't directly help someone become a warrior?" Sarah asked, confused.
