Chapter 436 A Scoundrel
Beverly shot Trevor a look of pure shock, then blurted out, "Wait, your last name's Wilson too? Are you from the Wilson clan?"
"Nah, I got no clue what my real last name is. My godmother just told me to go with Wilson. Been an orphan since forever, not part of the Wilson fam," Trevor said, shaking his head all serious-like.
"Godmother?" Beverly's eyebrows scrunched up in confusion.
"Yeah, he's my mom's godson! She named him Trevor. He can spill his whole story later. Shouldn't we get to the point now?" Ethan nudged Beverly.
Beverly gave Trevor another curious glance but held back her questions, following Ethan's lead and heading towards Jayden's office.
If Beverly had any doubts about having another bodyguard because of Trevor's Half-Step Grandmaster status, she was now way more chill.
Jessie's godson, which made him Ethan's bro.
No need to be all paranoid with one of her own!
"Jayden, where the heck did Beverly go? I suggest you bring her out right now. I'm here to see her!" Logan's cocky voice echoed from Jayden's office.
"Sorry, man, I really don't know where she went. If you need to find her, hit her up yourself. Hanging out in my office ain't gonna help," Jayden said, sounding pretty helpless.
"Jayden! Don't take my patience for granted! You think I don't know you're covering for Beverly? I tried calling her, but she ghosted me. You're totally playing me!" Logan yelled, fuming. If Ethan wasn't backing Jayden, he would've lost it ages ago.
"Logan, I don't know what you're talking about. I got work to do. If there's nothing else, get out!" Jayden's voice turned icy. He was only polite to Logan because of his status, not 'cause he liked him.
"I'm not leaving until I see Beverly! If you want me gone, bring her here!" Logan plopped down on the sofa, refusing to budge.
"Logan, quit causing trouble at Cloud Group!" Beverly suddenly burst through the door.
Both Logan and Jayden looked stunned to see her.
"Beverly, didn't you leave?" Jayden asked, surprised she came back.
"With Logan still lurking around, how could I relax?" Beverly shot Logan a glare and snorted.
"Beverly, you finally showed up! I thought you'd keep letting Jayden waste my time!" Logan's eyes lit up as soon as he saw her, jumping up from the sofa.
"You're not worth Jayden's time!" Beverly snapped coldly.
"Who do you think you are? Beverly, have you forgotten your place?" Logan's face twisted with anger.
"I know my place just fine. It's you who seems confused! You really think your status means that much?" Beverly shot back without holding back.
"Well said!" At that moment, Ethan and Trevor walked into Jayden's office.
"Ethan, what are you doing here?" Jayden asked, quickly piecing together why Beverly had returned.
"I came to drop off some reports to Beverly to keep some shameless folks from bugging everyone all the time!" Ethan shot Logan a look of pure disdain. He couldn't stand the guy and didn't even want to look at him.
Jayden was caught off guard for a sec, then noticed Trevor standing next to him, and his eyes lit up!
"Ethan? You actually showed up!" Logan's eyes flashed with a bit of fear when he saw Ethan.
Even though he always acted all high and mighty around Ethan, deep down, he was scared stiff of him.
Ethan was just too strong, like he could squash him with one hand!
"Man, that question's so lame. Is your brain even working?" Ethan looked at Logan like he was a total idiot, straight-up mocking him.
"Ethan, I'm still your older brother. Show some respect!" Logan's face darkened.
But he couldn't do squat when facing Ethan!
He suddenly regretted it, thinking he shouldn't have listened to Zephyr's dumb idea to come to Cloud Group and mess with Ethan!
"Respect? You're causing a scene on my turf like some punk, and now you wanna talk about respect?" Ethan laughed angrily, finding Logan's words ridiculous.
"You said you'd let me handle this!" Beverly quickly reminded Ethan, worried he might actually wreck Logan if this kept up.
"Do what you gotta do. I got stuff to discuss with Jayden!" Ethan said, turning and leaving the office, not even giving Logan another glance.
Jayden quickly followed Ethan out.
Trevor wanted to bounce too, but with just Logan, Beverly, and himself left in the office, he couldn't leave Beverly to deal with Logan alone.
"Beverly, so you're really sticking with Ethan till the end?" Logan finally let out a sigh of relief after Ethan left, his face darkening as he questioned Beverly.
"Is that why you came to see me today?" Beverly snorted dismissively.
"Don't get mad. I know you all think Ethan's got this in the bag; even Brady's caved and is letting him become the head of the Wilson family in a few days! But have you thought about it? Even if Ethan becomes the head, will people listen to him more than Brady?" Logan suddenly softened his tone, seriously reminding Beverly.
"At least people listen to Ethan more than to you!" Beverly mocked coldly.
"Why don't you get it? Brady's just making Ethan a puppet. Do you really think he'll be all that glorious? And I heard Ethan plans to take back all the properties and lands that were given to different families once he becomes the head. Doesn't that mess with your interests too? Are you really willing to hand everything over to Ethan?" Logan continued to persuade anxiously.
"Remind me. You're the one rallying the families to resist Ethan, right?" Beverly snorted dismissively, looking at Logan with a mix of disdain and pity.
"Say what you want. Anyway, not many in the Wilson family support Ethan becoming the head. It's not just up to me. No matter how powerful Ethan is, can he take on the entire Wilson family?" Logan reminded nonchalantly.
"If you came to tell me this, get out. I don't have time to waste on you!" Beverly said impatiently, turning to leave the office.
Trevor quickly followed her.
"Wait, Beverly, you'll regret this!" Logan panicked and chased after her, blocking her path.
