Chapter 617 A Few People Coming to Form a Team
"Alright, I won't keep you any longer. Can you leave me your contact info? Just in case Patricia needs to reach you, I can pass it along!" Bonnie looked at Ethan with hopeful eyes.
Ethan sighed internally but handed over his number anyway. Honestly, if he wanted to get in touch with Patricia, he could just ask Bonnie for her number directly. But Ethan didn't call out Bonnie's little game. They were friends, so he decided to play along.
Watching Bonnie's car disappear down the road, Ethan let out a small sigh, figuring he probably wouldn't see her again.
"Mr. Wilson, if I were a few decades younger, I wouldn't let go of such a beautiful pair of sisters. Are you really okay with letting them go like this?" Kenneth asked with a cheeky grin.
"Cut the crap. Do you think I'm as sleazy as you?" Ethan shot Kenneth a look.
Kenneth laughed awkwardly and quickly changed the subject, "After all this waiting, the main players are finally about to show up."
Right as he said that, Ethan felt a wave of powerful auras heading his way. In no time, five master-level experts stood before Ethan, while Kenneth had vanished.
Clearly, Ethan's master-level aura hadn't gone unnoticed, but Kenneth was a different story. Ethan didn't want Kenneth to be exposed just yet.
"You're so young and already a master-level expert. What's your name and which guild are you with?" A middle-aged guy in a blue robe asked with a smile.
Ethan glanced at him and smiled back. "I'm Alex Smith, just a nobody."
"Why won't you tell us your guild? I'm Lawrence Parker from Eagle Guild. These are Terry Perez from Wave Guild, Wayne Cooper and Ralph Cooper from Fist Guild, and Bobby Ward from DS Guild. We mean no harm, just want to get to know you." Lawrence introduced everyone, thinking Ethan was being cautious.
"It's not that I don't want to say, but I really don't belong to any guild. I'm just a lone wanderer," Ethan explained, looking a bit helpless.
"To reach master level at such a young age without a guild, you must be incredibly talented." Terry raised an eyebrow, smirking at Ethan. Clearly, he didn't buy Ethan's story and thought he was just making excuses.
"Don't mention it. It's just luck." Ethan chuckled casually.
"You must be here for the treasures on Vast Mountain, right? Why are you alone?" Lawrence asked directly.
"Everyone here is probably after the treasures on Vast Mountain. Since I'm a lone wanderer, I'm the only one here." Ethan sighed.
"In that case, why don't you join us and head to Vast Mountain together? After all, we don't know much about it. As outsiders, we need to stick together to avoid being pushed around by the ML Guild. Don't you agree?" Lawrence invited Ethan.
"You want me to join your group?" Ethan wasn't too shocked. It made sense for master-level experts from hidden guilds to team up for Vast Mountain to avoid getting picked off by the ML Guild.
But he wasn't planning to head up the mountain just yet. And looking at these five, the strongest was only at the late master level. If he were to team up, he'd want stronger allies.
"Exactly. What do you think?" Lawrence nodded, eyeing Ethan.
"Thanks, but I'm used to flying solo. It might be a hassle to join you guys. Let's just go our separate ways." Ethan shook his head, turning them down flat. Lawrence frowned, clearly not happy with Ethan's refusal."Do you really think you can make it up Vast Mountain as an early master level? We're offering to help you out, and I'm worried you'll just slow us down!" Terry, with his fiery temper, glared at Ethan, snorting in annoyance.
"Sorry, you got it wrong. I'm alone now, but I never said I don't have companions to go up the mountain with me," Ethan explained, smiling confidently.
"Then who are your companions? Maybe we know them." Lawrence asked, curious.
"He's my companion!" A woman's voice rang out. Before the words even faded, Patricia appeared beside Ethan.
"It's the third leader of the Ladies Guild!" Lawrence, who was only at the mid-master level, had a complicated look facing the late-master-level Patricia.
"No wonder he ignored us. Turns out he's with you! Isn't the Ladies Guild only for female disciples? Since when did you start keeping men?" Terry, also at the late master level, looked Patricia up and down, smirking.
"Terry, you'd better watch your mouth! If you want trouble, I'll teach you a lesson!" Patricia's face darkened, warning him harshly.
"Patricia, you think I'm scared of you?" Terry was immediately enraged by Patricia's challenge.
"Let's talk this out. No need to get hostile. Don't forget why we're here today!" Lawrence quickly stepped between them to mediate.
"I can't be bothered to argue with her!" Terry snorted, knowing it wasn't the time for a fight.
"Forget it, Patricia. Let them go. No need to start a conflict now," Ethan said calmly to Patricia.
Patricia walked behind Ethan without a word, not even glancing at the others, and stared at Vast Mountain.
Seeing this, Lawrence and the others were taken aback. No one expected Ethan to speak to Patricia like that, and for Patricia to not be angry, even seeming to follow Ethan's lead.
"Since you don't want to join us, we'll take our leave. See you on Vast Mountain." Lawrence realized Ethan wasn't just an early master level and didn't want to provoke him further. He decided to leave.
"Please, go ahead." Ethan nodded calmly. Terry snorted at Ethan before disappearing with Lawrence and the others.
