Chapter 252 Work for Me from Now On

They entered the elevator as they wanted. Then, they could soon see Zenith Group's current state. However, with the security captain following them, Sarah and the other girls felt somewhat uneasy. Ethan, on the other hand, remained calm as if he considered the security captain his attendant.

"Hey, don't look at me with such resentment. We have no grudges between us, right?" Noticing the security captain's resentful gaze, Ethan teased.

The security captain snorted and turned his head away.

"By the way, which floor is the president's office on?" Ethan asked, glancing at the elevator buttons.

"I don't know!" The security captain replied with a defiant look as if he was deliberately being difficult.

"If you tell me where the president's office is, and when Zenith Group moves out, you can stay and continue being the security captain if you want. How about that?" Ethan offered with a smile, trying to win him over.

Not only was the security captain surprised, but Sarah and the other girls also looked astonished.

"Are you crazy? How dare you involve yourself with Dorian's associates? Aren't you afraid of planting a ticking time bomb beside you?" Sarah pulled Ethan aside and whispered in his ear.

Chloe and Alice also gave Ethan serious looks, warning him to be careful with his decision.

"Isn't that more interesting? Anyone can become a time bomb. What's important is the outcome—who the bomb ends up hurting," Ethan replied with a light laugh, clearly not taking the security captain too seriously.

"What's your name?" Ethan asked him.

"My name is Joe Evans," he replied, still in shock.

"Joe? Your current boss got kicked out of Skyline Center so quickly. Where's your future with a boss like that? Why not consider working for me?" Ethan said, putting his arm around Joe's neck like they were old friends.

Joe didn't notice that Ethan glanced at the surveillance camera at the top of the elevator while speaking.

"What are you trying to do? Do you think I would betray Mr. Ashford?" Joe asked, clearly nervous. He tried to push Ethan away, but his tone was not as resolute as expected.

Sarah and Chloe exchanged glances, surprised that Ethan managed to shaked even the security captain of Zenith Group.

If Joe were truly loyal, he would have firmly refused at once instead of responding ambiguously.

"It doesn't matter about betrayal. You're just working for a paycheck. If you stay and help me, I'll pay you double. You're not part of the Ashford family. Don't tell me you plan to work for Mr. Ashford your whole life?" Ethan reminded Joe with a smirk.

Joe's face showed clear signs of temptation, and he fell silent.

"It's settled then, but this is our secret. Don't tell anyone until you officially start working for me. Now, tell me, which floor is Dorian's office on?" Ethan knew Joe was tempted but too proud to admit it, so he didn't wait for his answer.

"Mr. Ashford... doesn't have an office in Skyline Center!" Joe's expression relaxed, and he shook his head hesitantly.

"No office?" Ethan raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"That's right. He rarely comes here. Whenever he does, he uses the office of the general manager, Roy Brooks. Roy is a professional manager hired by him, who handles the affairs of the group. Additionally, Ignatius, as the deputy general manager, plays a supervisory role. If it weren't for your appearance, Mr. Ashford wouldn't have shown up here at all!" Joe quickly explained.

"Oh, I see. It seems Dorian has quite a few businesses. Zenith Group isn't worth Dorian's time and effort," Ethan nodded in realization. This was similar to his style when he was with the Cloud Group, where Jayden managed the company for him, and he rarely visited, preferring to give instructions over the phone.

"There are cameras everywhere upstairs. If you insist on going up, be careful," Joe didn't explicitly say it, but he still warned Ethan and the others.

"No worries. I'm just here to take a look today. So, take me to Roy's office, Okay? Please lead me to his office," Ethan instructed, changing the subject.

"Alright," Joe replied, pressing the button for the 48th floor, which was also the highest floor displayed in the elevator.

"This building has 50 floors, right?" Ethan asked, raising an eyebrow.

"That's correct, but the elevator only goes up to the 48th floor. The last two floors are off-limits to regular employees. There's a special staircase on the 48th floor that leads up, and only a few senior managers can access it using fingerprint and iris recognition," Joe explained.

"So, the last two floors are the core and the most secretive parts of Zenith Group. I remember this group mainly deals in financial services and real estate investment, right? Why do they have such high-security areas like a high-tech company?" Ethan asked in curiosity.

"I don't know the specifics. I'm just a security captain. How would I know these things?" Joe shook his head helplessly.

"Never mind then. This building is mine now, so I have plenty of time to find out," Ethan said nonchalantly. He thought, 'A big family like the Ashford family is bound to have some secrets.'

"By the way, I don't know the details, but I once overheard someone talking about a secret lab in the group, which seemed to be specializing in some incredible research," Joe suddenly said.

"What kind of research requires such high-level secrecy? Never mind, let's not worry about that for now. We're almost there. Let's meet Roy you mentioned," Ethan said, ending the topic as the elevator approached the 48th floor.

With Joe personally leading the way, Ethan and the others had no trouble getting through. However, when they reached Roy's office, a female secretary stopped them.

"Who are you, and what's the matter?" The secretary asked suspiciously, seeing the unfamiliar faces. If Joe hadn't been with them, she might have thought they had snuck in.

"Ignatius asked me to show them around the group. This is Mr. Wilson, and he wants to meet Roy," Joe explained, pointing to Ethan.

The secretary was even more surprised. She pondered, 'Since when did Zenith Group allow outsiders to tour?' This was the first time she had encountered such a situation. However, since Joe mentioned it was Ignatius's instruction, she didn't argue.

At that moment, the door to the general manager's office opened, and a young man with gold-rimmed glasses and a crew cut stepped out. He looked to be in his early thirties, somewhat thin but very efficient-looking.

"What's going on?" Roy's eyebrows furrowed as he saw Ethan and Joe standing at his office door.
