Chapter 165 Poisoned
"Gray! Why are you competing with a boy?"
Mr. Grant furrowed his brow with instant displeasure.
As soon as Mr. Grant began scolding, Gary lost his temper. His face looked cold.
"Listen, Ethan, I called him in to help Norman solve that problem. You know better than anyone the consequences delaying."
Remington then persuaded Gary earnestly.
"What are you joking about? How could a boy possibly solve that problem? I know he helped you remove the shrapnel from your head, but that doesn't guarantee anything! In any case, I don't agree with the risk."
Upon hearing this, Gary immediately jumped up. It was hard to imagine a slob of about sixty years old jumping like a cat that had been stepped on its tail.
Ethan was speechless, wondering why he was suddenly hated when he hadn't said or done anything. Who exactly had he offended?
"I don't like this old man!"
Sarah sneered, clearly unable to bear to see her beloved being mistreated, even if it was Mr. Grant's personal doctor.
"Enough, Gary. We all understand that my current situation is not your fault, and Remington doesn't blame you either. He just wants to help me, that's all."
Mr. Grant scolded. Gary snorted, staring at Ethan with hostility.
Ethan raised an eyebrow, facing him head-on.
Although he hadn't figured out the situation yet, he was somewhat angry at this abrupt confrontation from the old man because of his earlier comment.
"Ethan, has Remington told you about my situation?"
Mr. Grant looked at Ethan and asked, changing the subject.
"Not yet. Remington has done a good job of keeping it confidential. I didn't even know it was you that he asked me to see before I came!"
Upon hearing this, Ethan shook his head and smiled bitterly.
Mr. Grant nodded without surprise, then slowly explained, "Actually, you were correct. Like we both understand, a little medicine can be poisonous. Remington understands this too. But there's nothing we can do, because I've already been poisoned!"
Mr. Grant's words suddenly shocked Ethan, and Sarah couldn't believe it as she covered her mouth, almost making a noise!
Poisoned!
Mr. Grant had actually been poisoned!
Who dared to poison Mr. Grant?
“Three months ago, during a routine physical exam, Gary found a rare chronic poison in my body that was slowly damaging my organs. Despite appearing healthy, my time is limited. I know my body well! Gary tried to counteract the poison with medication, but the results were disappointing," Mr. Grant explained solemnly.
“What kind of toxin is it?" Ethan inquired with a furrowed brow.
"We're not sure. Our expert team has been studying it for three months, but we still haven't been able to identify it. There are no similar cases or records, as if it appeared out of nowhere," Remington explained.
"What could this kid possibly do that we couldn't figure out in three months?" Gary scoffed dismissively.
"Your inability to solve it only shows your lack of skills. What gives you the right to question others? Just because you're older than me?" Ethan retorted, feeling irritated and standing up to the grumpy old man for the first time.
"What did you say, kid?" Gary was taken aback by Ethan's boldness, pointing at him with anger. "I'm just stating the truth. If you can't do it, don't embarrass yourself by trying. If you can't cure Mr. Grant, does that mean no one else can?"
Ethan coldly responded, not backing down. "You insolent brat! How dare you!" Gary, shaken by Ethan's defiance, turned pale with rage. As Mr. Grant's personal health consultant, he was always respected, and being challenged like this was unprecedented.
"Mr. Grant, may I examine your condition?" Ethan asked, turning to Mr. Grant. Remington nodded in agreement.
"You have my permission to examine him. Don't worry about any pressure. Feel free to assess him. Even if you can't help, we won't hold it against you," Mr. Grant reassured Ethan.
Mr. Grant smiled and nodded.
"Mr. Grant..." Gary exclaimed, growing anxious, but his outburst was halted by Mr. Grant's raised hand, indicating that he had made up his mind, leaving Gary helpless.
Ethan approached Mr. Grant and placed one hand on his wrist, as his superpower energy flowed into Mr. Grant's body.
At first, Mr. Grant closed his eyes, but as a stream of air rushed in, his body visibly trembled.
He then opened his eyes, looking at Ethan with astonishment. Meanwhile, Ethan kept his eyes closed, carefully sensing the condition of Mr. Grant's body.
"Hmph! Let's see what tricks you can figure out," Gary snorted disapprovingly. Immediately, Ethan sensed a dark energy enveloping Mr. Grant's body. This energy was gradually eroding Mr. Grant's bodily functions, with his organs experiencing varying degrees of deterioration, making the situation dire. If this continued, within three months, Mr. Grant would likely collapse completely. Even the most talented doctors or a master-level expert like Gary wouldn't detect anything unusual without understanding superpower energy techniques.
Once Ethan confirmed the dark energy's presence, he attempted to dissolve it using the freezing energy from the Moon Bead, but it proved ineffective against this mysterious force.
Ethan wondered about the resistance of this black energy to the Moon Bead's power.
He considered increasing the freezing energy of the Moon Bead for another attempt but decided against it to protect the small garden surrounding the sanatorium until the black energy was eliminated from Mr. Grant's body.
