Chapter 418 All Bad News

Spencer walked into his office early in the morning, dark circles under his eyes. He hadn't even sat down when the phone rang.

"What is it?" he answered, frowning. His expression shifted from impatience to surprise.

"Surprised to hear my voice?" a hoarse voice said. Despite the change, Spencer recognized it as Arnold's.

"Yeah, I'm surprised. Didn't think Anna would let you live. I was starting to doubt her, but now I see I was right!" Spencer gritted his teeth.

"No, you're wrong. I was close to meeting my maker," Arnold said seriously.

Spencer squinted. "Who saved you?"

"Someone you'd never guess. You'll have to find out yourself. You're gonna love it when you two meet!" Arnold didn't mention Ethan, probably to frustrate Spencer.

"Even if you don't say, I can guess. This is you and Herong's doing, right?" Spencer sneered.

"Is Anna dead?" Arnold asked suddenly.

"Why ask if you already know?" Spencer frowned.

"Doesn't matter. Anna's dead, but you're still here. We'll settle our scores later!" Arnold's tone turned venomous.

"Really? Think you have a later?" Spencer sneered, signaling his team to trace the call.

"I know you're trying to find me. Want to locate me?" Arnold laughed.

"If you want to settle scores, the sooner, the better!" Spencer snorted.

"Mr. Garcia, the trace shows Arnold is in Toronto!" a female subordinate said, making Spencer's face darken.

"Sorry, Spencer. I know you won't let me go easily, so I called from Torontow. Come find me anytime!" Arnold chuckled and hung up.

"Damn it! Arnold's still alive!" Spencer took a while to calm down, realizing his previous judgments were wrong.

"Mr. Garcia, Blair and the others are back, and..." the female subordinate's voice came through the intercom.

"And what?" Spencer frowned.

"They brought Herong back!" she added.

Spencer's eyes widened, and he rushed out of the office.

"Did you capture Herong?" he asked Blair, pushing aside two agents to see Herong being dragged by them.

Spencer was furious. Was this supposed to be a Half-Step Grandmaster?

He looked the part, but this so-called Half-Step Grandmaster was as good as disabled.

"What happened?" Spencer asked Blair.

Did Blair injure Herong this badly? That seemed like the only explanation.

"He was already like this when your people found him. Dumped by the river, the same place we went last night! I expected a fight, but he was already crippled!" Blair said, looking grim and dissatisfied.

"How? Who has that kind of power? Could you do it?" Spencer asked, shocked.

"I could kill him cleanly, but to cripple him like this? No way," Blair admitted reluctantly.

Killing was easier than crippling. If the power difference wasn't huge, this wouldn't happen.

So, whoever crippled Herong must be way stronger than him!

Otherwise, Herong would rather die than be a cripple.

The same went for Blair.

"Mr. Garcia, here's the intel we just gathered!" Another female subordinate handed over a file. It had info on Herong and the royal family, including key details of Ethan's visit to the palace yesterday.

"It's him! It was all his doing. I thought Herong dealt with Ethan, but it's the opposite!" Spencer had known Ethan was tough, which was why she brought in Blair. But she didn't expect Herong to be no match for Ethan either. It seemed Ethan was the one who crippled Herong!

"No need to guess. The one who saved Arnold and took the hard drive is Ethan. If he could cripple Herong, could we have been wrong all along? Is he really master-level?" Blair looked closely at Ethan's photo, his expression unreadable.

"Why don't we just ask him? Lock him in Room One. I'll interrogate him myself!" Spencer ordered, glancing at the limp Herong.

But to Spencer's frustration, a subordinate came running in, awkwardly informing him that Herong was already dead!

"Damn it. How did Herong die?" Spencer shouted in anger. She hadn't even asked a single question, and Herong was already dead. What a joke!

"His body was tampered with. The person who crippled him clearly didn't intend to leave him alive. It's normal for him to die," Blair said calmly.

"Mr. Garcia, the airport confirmed that Wade flew to Vexa last night. He should be in Vexa by now!" Another subordinate reported.

"Get out. All of you get out!" Spencer, on the verge of exploding from one bad news after another, couldn't contain his anger and drove everyone out of the office.
