Chapter 406 Treatment

Ethan sighed. He came to Norway for a job and wanted to avoid extra drama. But with Alice and Lilia being close friends, it seemed unlikely Alice would stay out of it, complicating things for him.

Could he really say no to Alice given their relationship?

"Alice, let me go! I can't leave my dad alone; I can't be that selfish!" Lilia didn't want to drag her friend into this mess. She looked desperate, like she'd given up.

"If it were anything else, I might not be able to help, but if it's about the king's illness, we can definitely help! You don't need to sacrifice your happiness for this!" Alice said confidently.

"Do you have a way to cure my dad?" Lilia's eyes widened, hope flickering in her gaze.

"I can't!" Alice shrugged, looking innocent.

Lilia's hope shattered, and her eyes dimmed again.

"But he can! Ethan is a top doctor in Vexa. His skills are amazing. Leave the king's illness to him, and it'll be all good!" Alice was overly confident, even pulling Ethan's arm to make a promise.

"I need to see the king first to be sure. Don't make promises you can't keep," Ethan reminded softly.

"What should we do then? Let Lilia marry that awful Herong? Lilia is my best friend; we have to help her!" Alice lowered her voice, glaring at Ethan.

"Can Mr. Wilson cure my dad?" Lilia turned to Ethan, eager.

"If you trust me, I'm more reliable than Herong, and you won't have to sacrifice anything because you have a good friend backing you up!" Ethan nodded with a wry smile.

"Mr. Wilson, are you really confident? This is no joke!" Davis, skeptical, reminded him.

If Ethan's skills weren't up to par and he couldn't cure Ryan, things could get worse!

"The king's status is important and should be treated carefully. But I am confident in my skills," Ethan nodded, speaking confidently.

"Don't underestimate Ethan. In Vexa, he's treated many important figures, all national leaders. He's a renowned doctor of Norman!" Alice, seeing their hesitation, hurriedly vouched for Ethan.

"Norman?" Davis frowned.

"Are you talking about Norman, one of Vexa's founding leaders, known as the undefeated general during the war? I know he's still alive!" As a princess, Lilia knew Vexa's famous figures well. Besides the leader, Norman was one of the most respected and powerful elders in Vexa!

"That's right. I visited Norman just a few days ago!" Ethan nodded.

"If you show up and cure Ryan, you'll definitely offend Herong. Have you thought about the consequences?" Lilia didn't immediately agree, worried about the fallout from Ethan getting involved.

"You don't need to worry about that. I don't take Herong seriously! Besides, I'm heading back to Vexa in a few days. If he wants trouble, he can find me there!" Ethan, initially hesitant, was moved by Lilia's concern for him. This made him more inclined to help her.

"Herong is still outside. Are you planning to return to the palace with him?" Davis frowned. "You might clash with Herong as soon as you step out, and you might not get the chance to return to Vexa!"

"This is my choice. If Herong can keep me in Norway, then so be it!" Ethan shrugged, clearly not worried about Herong.

"Don't waste time. Let's hurry to the palace to check on the king!" Alice urged.

"Alright. I'll take you to see my dad!" Lilia, moved by Ethan's willingness to stand up to Herong for her, nodded firmly.

Choosing Ethan meant cutting ties with Herong, making the engagement a joke.

"I'll wait here for your good news! Let me see you out," Davis sighed, knowing his banquet was ruined.

The four of them walked out and saw Herong by a car, glaring at them.

"Have you finally come to your senses?" Herong smirked coldly.

"Yes, I've come to my senses," Lilia nodded without fear.

"If you've come to your senses, get in the car. Don't keep the king waiting!" Herong said as a driver opened the car door.

"I'm not taking your car. You go ahead; I'll be back at the palace soon!" Lilia walked away with Ethan and Alice.

"Lilia, what are you doing?" Herong's face darkened.

"I'm going back to the palace with my friends. Do I need your permission? Know your place!" Lilia warned Herong fearlessly.

"How dare you talk to me like that and plan to take two outsiders to see the king? Don't you want the king to get better?" Herong, not expecting Lilia to confront him, was furious.

"My dad will get better, and we don't need you for that!" Lilia snorted and got into the car, leaving Herong fuming but speechless.

If Ethan hadn't been there, Herong might have forcibly taken Lilia away. But he seemed wary of Ethan, watching their car disappear before getting into his own with a cold face.

"Damn it, has Lilia gone mad?" Herong was livid.

The driver, trembling, asked, "Mr. Winston, should we still go to the palace?"

"Of course! I want to see what game Lilia is playing!" Herong growled.

The driver quickly started the car and headed towards the palace.

Just then, Herong's phone rang.

"Mr. Winston, I need your help!" a man's voice said. He didn't introduce himself but was clearly an old acquaintance.

"I don't have time for your nonsense right now. Stay quiet and wait; we'll talk later!" Herong, still furious, hung up.
