Chapter 501 The Empty Coffin

Francis's words shocked Ethan and Jessie once again. With no knowledge of the origins of the ancient books, they couldn't even begin to guess. But if what Francis said was true, then Matthew must have discovered an earth-shattering secret back then.

"Francis, what exactly is the SA Guild?" Ethan suppressed his shock and continued to ask.

"The history of the SA Guild is even older than Tiger Mount. I've only seen related records in ancient texts, so I don't know the specifics either," Francis shook his head and explained.

"Then how can you be sure these ancient books belong to the SA Guild?" Ethan asked more curiously.

"Do you see it? Each ancient book has a sun-shaped symbol on the title page. This is the mark of the SA Guild, and there's no mistake about it." Francis casually opened one of the ancient books to the title page and pointed out the not-so-conspicuous symbol to Ethan.

Ethan was stunned for a few seconds, then suddenly seemed to realize something. He immediately said to Francis, "Francis, you keep these books for now. Find a place to store them, and I'll deal with them later."

With that, Ethan dove into the space portal and returned to the Wilson Villa.

Francis was almost out of breath with anger, pointing at Ethan's back and shouting, "You're leaving this huge mess to me, and you won't even help me move it in."

"Sorry to trouble you, Francis." Jessie gave Francis an apologetic look and also returned to the Wilson Villa.

"They really are a bunch of dynamic personalities," Francis sighed helplessly, then turned to look at the pile of bookshelves and ancient texts, smiling.

These were treasures. With these ancient books from the SA Guild as a foundation, the ZF Guild of Tiger Mount would be revitalized.

Jessie knew exactly why Ethan hurried back. They exited the space portal one after the other. Ethan directly returned to the small garden.

"Ethan, why are you in such a hurry? What happened?" Back in the front yard, Ethan ignored everyone and ran out of the yard, causing Chloe and the others to frown and the guests to look puzzled.

"We have some matters to attend to, and we'll entertain you later," Jessie explained to everyone, signaling Chloe and the others to take care of the guests, and then quickly chased after Ethan.

"Should I go check on them?" Sarah asked, looking worriedly in the direction Ethan and Jessie had left.

"No need. There shouldn't be any issues within the Wilson Villa. If there really is something, we'd just be a burden and wouldn't be able to help." Chloe suppressed her impulse and shook her head at Sarah. Since Ethan didn't ask them to follow, they should just stay put.

"Elmer, are you ready? We're heading to the cemetery right now," Rushing into the Shadow Gang, Ethan instructed Elmer, who was just coming out.

"In such a hurry? Didn't we say we'd go in the afternoon?" Elmer looked even more puzzled.

"I can't wait. I need an answer now," Ethan said without further explanation and headed towards the Wilson family cemetery in the back mountain.

Elmer had no choice but to follow with the Shadow Gang guards and the arriving Jessie.

The guards at the cemetery greeted Ethan as he approached. However, Ethan ignored them and ran up the mountain path towards Matthew's grave.

Elmer and the others caught up, only to see Ethan standing dumbfounded in front of Matthew's tombstone.

Jessie walked up and called softly, "Ethan."

"Elmer, have them dig," Ethan turned his head and instructed Elmer.

Elmer signaled to the guards, and they began to work.

Digging a grave in the Wilson family grounds was unprecedented. If anyone dared to do this, they wouldn't know how they died. But now, it was Ethan, the current head of the Wilson family, digging up his own father's grave. Nobody dared to disagree.

Soon, a large group of Wilson family members arrived. Among them were branch family members like Lucas and Micah, as well as Herman.

After about half an hour of work, Matthew's coffin was finally lifted out.

"Ethan, should we open it?" Elmer asked, staring at Ethan.

Everyone else also looked at Ethan expectantly.

"Yes, open it," Ethan said firmly. Elmer's subordinates began to pry open the coffin lid.

Once the lid was loosened, Ethan pushed the guards aside and walked up to the coffin. In front of everyone, he grabbed the coffin lid and flipped it to the ground.

The next scene left everyone wide-eyed and speechless. Ethan and Jessie's breathing became rapid. The coffin was empty, with no trace of a corpse.

It had only been a few years since the burial. Even if the body had decayed, there should have been some bones left.

"Empty, it's actually empty!"

"How can it be empty? We all saw Matthew being buried back then!"

"This is too strange. Could someone have stolen the body?"

"Who would dare to steal a body? Are they tired of living?"

"Do you think it's possible that Matthew never died?"

For a moment, all the Wilson family members started discussing among themselves. Herman also showed a look of shock and quickly headed back to Brady's courtyard.

"Why is it empty?" Ethan muttered, staring at the empty coffin, lost in thought.

"Did you already guess this outcome, which is why you rushed over?" Elmer asked softly.

Ethan didn't answer, unable to explain even to himself. Everything was too strange, especially after learning from Jessie that Matthew had hidden secrets. Everything seemed to become more mysterious.

Jessie took a deep breath and reminded Ethan, "Ethan, he's really not dead."

"Why don't you say someone stole his body?" Ethan asked softly, staring at the empty coffin.

"Impossible. The cemetery guards are all my sudordinates. If someone could steal the body from here, it would mean you're suspecting me," Elmer reminded Ethan firmly.

"So you're saying my father's body walked out of the coffin on its own?" Ethan suddenly turned and questioned Elmer.

Elmer fell silent. He couldn't answer this question, even though he had the same thought. But such a hypothesis was too unbelievable. Nobody knew the reason, and if Matthew wasn't dead, where he was now.

"Whether he's dead or alive, I must find him," Ethan clenched his fists and said through gritted teeth, "If he's alive, I want to see him. If he's dead, I want to see his body."
