Chapter 388 It Was About Time

Alice had been sitting with Ethan all day and was getting antsy. She looked at him and asked, "Shouldn't we head back?"

"Hold on. Let's wait a bit longer. The people we're waiting for might show up tonight," Ethan said, scanning the area. His sharp vision caught even those hiding in the shadows.

Alice was skeptical. Ethan had said the same thing all day, and she was losing faith.

This time, Ethan didn't brush her off. He noticed that as night fell, the shady figures started to come out, gathering in small groups and whispering. They looked like thugs.

They varied in appearance, but they all had one thing in common: bulging waists and hands close to their sides.

"Alice, if anything happens, stay here and wait for me. Don't move," Ethan said, still watching the crowd.

"What did you find?" Alice asked, surprised.

Ethan raised his hand to stop her, his eyes fixed on a nearby alley.

A tall figure emerged cautiously from the alley, moving carefully toward the street.

When the figure stepped into the light, Ethan was stunned.

The girl, with her green hair, sunglasses, and gum, looked like a rebellious teen with graffiti on her cheeks.

But it wasn't her outfit that shocked Ethan—it was her identity.

She was Angela.

Ethan felt a wave of frustration. 'Finally caught you! Even in disguise, I can still spot you!'

"That's Angela!" Alice said, following Ethan's gaze. She couldn't believe they had actually waited her out.

"Stay here and wait for me, or go back alone. I'll be fine," Ethan said, not answering her directly.

"What are you going to do? Find her?" Alice grabbed his arm.

"Angela must know the place is crawling with agents, yet she walked out like a fool. She's risking her life! I can't let her get hurt, or this mission fails," Ethan muttered.

He didn't worry about the agents and assassins. As a Half-Step Grandmaster, he could handle them easily, even if they had guns.

But Angela, being an ordinary person, was in real danger.

Feeling Alice's grip tighten, Ethan knew she was worried. He patted her hand and said, "Don't worry about me. These guys are nothing. If Angela isn't in danger, I won't intervene."

"No matter what, be careful!" Alice insisted.

"Wait here. I'll be back once I handle this," Ethan nodded and ran out.

Angela, disguised as a rebellious girl, immediately drew a lot of attention. Despite her good disguise, some professional agents were still suspicious.

Her hot figure and revealing outfit naturally caught the eyes of most men.

Angela acted casual as she walked to the entrance of a five-story building, not stopping before turning inside and disappearing into the hallway.

The hidden agents quickly converged on the building.

Just as they were about to follow Angela inside, another figure appeared and followed her into the hallway.

"These two don't seem to live here. We haven't seen their profiles!"

"Doesn't matter, let's go in and control them first. We can question them later!"

The agents, talking among themselves, reached the hallway, drew their guns, and ran into the dimly lit corridor.

They climbed the stairs, searching each floor for the two strangers.

When a few of them reached the third floor, they heard a woman's panting from a nearby hallway.

The agents exchanged glances. They knew what the sound meant, and it stirred a primal reaction in them.

Despite this, they stayed professional and cautiously approached the source of the sound with their guns ready.

Signaling to his companions to count to three, one of the agents kicked open the door and rushed in.

The other agents followed, aiming their guns in different directions, covering all angles.

But they were stunned. They saw Angela and the man who had entered earlier now embracing and kissing each other.

After a few seconds, Angela, facing them, snapped out of her shock and started patting the man's shoulder.

If her mouth weren't blocked by the man's, she probably would have screamed!

One of the agents cursed under his breath and instinctively lowered his gun, "Damn it!"

Seeing this, the others also lowered their weapons.

The man holding Angela realized what was happening. He turned to look at the agents, his face turning pale as he raised his hands and leaned against the wall, looking like a small-time crook caught by the police.

"I didn't do anything wrong. You can't arrest me!" The man's voice was filled with fear, and he trembled as he spoke.

One of the agents walked up and slapped the man's face, issuing a harsh warning that made the man nod repeatedly, not daring to say anything.

Seeing his pathetic state, the agents lost interest. They called off the operation through their hidden earpieces, and the agents in the building retreated, disappearing in no time.

"How dare you show yourself in this situation? Are you tired of living?" After the agents left, Ethan's fearful expression vanished, and he scolded Angela in a low voice.

Angela responded with a slap!

Fortunately, Ethan reacted quickly, and the slap landed on the wall instead, causing Angela some pain as she quickly withdrew her hand.

"You bastard, how dare you take advantage of me!" Angela's eyes were filled with anger. Her first kiss had been taken by Ethan, a playboy she had only known for two days!
