Chapter 59 Clarence's Anger
"Yes, Grandpa. Even I didn't expect Ethan could actually save you. Do you remember how you got poisoned? When the butler found you in the garden, you had already fainted due to poisoning,” Sarah quickly asked. She was determined to uncover the culprit behind her grandfather's poisoning.
Clarence was suspicious, uncertain as he started to recall what happened before he fainted. He couldn't have been poisoned for no reason; there must’ve been some traces beforehand!
At this moment, James still didn’t give up. He asked again, “Grandpa, are you really okay?”
“What do you mean, James? Did you not want Grandpa to wake up?” Sarah was instantly filled with anger upon hearing his words.
Clarence's sharp gaze also turned toward James, leaving the latter so frightened that his legs almost gave out.
Alan angrily yelled at James, “You bastard, how dare you speak like that? Get the hell out of here!”
He regretted not nailing this fool to the wall in the past.
James' complexion changed as he heard this, realizing that he had clearly lost the bet. However, how could he possibly kneel and apologize to Ethan?
Alan's furious shout immediately gave him a chance to escape. Once he realized it, he didn't hesitate and quickly walked toward the door.
“Wait. You can leave if you want, but before you go, shouldn't you fulfill your words first?” Ethan couldn't just let this man leave. Even before James reached the door, he called out.
James paused, his face filled with maliciousness. He didn't expect Ethan to have the audacity to make him fulfill the bet.
“That's right. You doubted whether Ethan would keep his promise before this. As the Harris family’s heir, you wouldn’t show such dishonorable behavior, right?” Chloe chimed in.
“That’s funny! You think I should kneel down and apologize to this idiot? Know your place. I’m the Harris family’s young master, and he is nothing!” James completely revealed his shameless attitude, speaking arrogantly as if it were only natural!
“You’re twisting your words! If Ethan was the one who lost, you wouldn’t have let him off. Now that you’re the one who lost, you want to settle it with a few words? Don’t be so shameless! That’ll only make people look down on you!” Sarah yelled angrily.
“Sarah, what's going on?” The young children were arguing, which made Clarence frown and ask with slight dissatisfaction.
Sarah explained everything that happened in detail.
As he listened, Clarence’s face grew darker.
He kept his gaze on James the whole time, making the latter feel uneasy and break out in a cold sweat!
“Old Master Harris, it’s good I could save you today. I never intended to trouble Young Master Harris, but he kept provoking me. I had no choice but to respond, so I hope you understand!” After Sarah finished explaining, Ethan calmly spoke to Clarence.
Only then did Clarence shift his gaze to Ethan, observing the latter before nodding slowly. “I owe my life today to Mr. Wilson's kind help. My foolish grandson has embarrassed himself in front of you!”
Sarah smiled and said, “Grandpa, Ethan is my friend, so you don't have to be so formal with him. Just call him by his name!”
Others may not understand the meaning behind her words, but Ethan and Chloe understood very well. Sarah had really decided to help create a relationship between Ethan and Clarence!
Clarence was silent, but his gaze turned to James again as he sternly scolded, “Bastard, are you taking back your words just like that? As Harris family members, we may lose in a bet, but we mustn’t lose our integrity! How do I have a grandson like you?”
“Grandpa... Are you really asking me to kneel and apologize to this idiot?” James asked in surprise, trembling. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
Clarence coldly snorted, “If you don't want to kneel, you can get out of the Harris family from today onward. I'll pretend as if you were never my grandson!”
“Dad, James is your own grandson. Aren't you going too far? In your eyes, is he really less than this outsider?” Alan was shocked and quickly stepped forward to plead for his son.
“I'll make sure to handle your matter after this!” Clarence stared at Alan for a moment with a cold glare. He then turned his head, ignoring Alan!
Just one look and sentence made Alan freeze on the spot, his face pale and cold sweat rolling down!
Ethan suddenly had a hunch, immediately guessing what was going on.
“Grandpa, I'll kneel, okay? Please don't drive me out of the Harris family! Is it not enough if I kneel?”
James immediately collapsed. His sense of superiority as the Harris family’s young master instantly vanished. In order to keep the status he relied on, he knelt before Ethan without hesitation.
“I’m sorry, Ethan. I shouldn't have doubted you!” James gritted his teeth, finally squeezing out the humiliating words.
“What a group of troublesome people. Enough! All of you, leave!” Clarence angrily yelled. As a grandfather, how could he feel comfortable when his grandson was kneeling and apologizing?
However, he knew who was in the wrong, so he had to direct his frustration and anger toward James and his father.
As soon as they heard this, the father and son trembled and dared not linger any longer. After exchanging glances, they quickly disappeared with the people they had brought.
“Your name is Ethan?” Clarence’s face finally softened, his gaze turning to Ethan inquiringly.
“Yes,” Ethan nodded.
Clarence slowly nodded at first, but he then said something that startled the others. “I’ve done deals with your father before. He is a good young man! I never expected you to be even more outstanding than him. He must be pleased up in heaven.”
Ethan asked in astonishment, “You know me and my father?”
Clarence continued with a smile, “Our four families have interaction before, after all. I did receive news when you arrived in Novaria three years ago. You’re remarkable, and your title as Cloud Group’s business legend isn’t an exaggeration.”
Upon hearing this, Ethan couldn't help but shake his head bitterly. “I have no connection with Cloud Group anymore! Moreover, the Wilsons have banished me. Your words embarrass me, Old Master Harris.”
“What happened?” Clarence immediately furrowed his brows. When he was in a coma, Ethan hadn't been banished yet, so he was unaware of it.
“Grandpa, it's like this!” Sarah also understood and roughly explained the situation.
Clarence's expression changed after he heard this. He didn't ask about why Ethan's was banished, nor did he reveal his thoughts.
“What's the matter, Grandpa?” Sarah's heart sank. Could it be that Clarence's attitude toward Ethan would change because he wasn’t a Wilson family member anymore?
Clarence stood up from the bed. He stretched a bit before saying to Ethan, “I’m alive today thanks to you, Ethan. I will remember this favor and invite you to dinner another time. As for today, I have matters to attend to.”
“Grandpa!” Sarah couldn't believe that Clarence would actually abandon Ethan due to his expulsion.
However, Ethan only responded, “Since that's the case, I won't disturb you. I can understand your current mood after all, since the Harris family also has their own troubles. Goodbye for now!”
With that, Ethan walked out without looking back.
