Chapter 584 Arguments and Decisions

Angela barely had a moment to feel touched before all eyes were on her. Usually so distant, she couldn't help but blush and smile.

Norman and Remington exchanged looks, both seeing the helplessness in each other's eyes. They knew Ethan would do anything for his wife.

When Ethan first showed up in Everglow and crashed the Miller and Ashford families' engagement party to take Chloe away, it was clear. Anyone messing with Ethan's wife was asking for trouble. Kenny got lucky; he didn't mess with Chloe and wasn't worth Ethan's time.

"How sure are you?" Andrea asked, frowning.

"I don't do things I'm not sure about," Ethan replied with a confident grin.

"Alright, I'm with you. Those hidden sects, claiming to be cut off from the world, have never stopped meddling in the secular world. Sometimes they even mess with national interests. We've wanted to deal with them for a while but never had the chance." Andrea took a deep breath, looking like he was ready to tackle some big issues before his time at work was up.

Hearing this, everyone turned their eyes to Andrea again.

Someone objected, "Andrea, you can't go after the hidden sects; it'll cause a chain reaction!"

"Yeah, they've been behaving for years. Starting a fight could really stir things up," someone else chimed in.

"I also support dealing with the hidden sects," Vincenzo Murphy said as he walked in, his tone leaving no room for argument.

Ethan turned his head, a look of realization crossing his face.

Vincenzo, Matteo's father and a high-ranking official, was the most affected by this incident.

Vincenzo's sudden appearance surprised everyone, especially since Matteo hadn't even been buried yet. It was clear that as a father, he was determined to seek justice for Matteo.

Someone quickly tried to reason with Vincenzo. "Vincenzo, we know you're upset about Matteo. But the hidden sects are a big deal; one wrong move could cause national problems. You need to think about the bigger picture and not add to the chaos, right?"

"It's not your son who died, so it's easy for you to say. These hidden sects have already run wild in Everglow. Today they killed Matteo without hesitation; who can guarantee they won't target your kids tomorrow?" Vincenzo snapped, his harsh words silencing those who wanted to persuade him.

"Your sons might not be much, but I gotta say, I respect you two for standing your ground," Ethan said, looking at Vincenzo and Andrea with a grin, giving them two thumbs up.

"You didn't kill Matteo, but this whole mess started because of you. Think you can just wash your hands of it? If it weren't for you, those hidden sects wouldn't have gone after Matteo," Vincenzo shot back, not giving Ethan a friendly look.

Ethan didn't get mad. Instead, he nodded with a smile and said, "I admire your guts, but I got one more question."

"What question?" Vincenzo asked, frowning.

"This one's important. Do your words actually carry weight?" Ethan chuckled, bluntly reminding him.

As he spoke, Ethan glanced at Andrea. Even though he was talking to Vincenzo, his words were also aimed at Andrea.

Sure, they might be top dogs in the next term, but they weren't the decision-makers now. No matter how passionately they spoke, it was uncertain if they could really get the country to take down the hidden sects.

Ethan's words made Vincenzo and Andrea go silent, and everyone turned their eyes to Norman and Remington.

True, everyone present was a big shot, but none of the country's real leaders were here. They wouldn't waste time on such matters, focusing more on national and international issues. To put it bluntly, the vision of those present was still different from the top leaders!

But with the real leaders absent, two former leaders were here. Norman and Remington's words carried enough weight. If they could take a stand, this matter might finally get resolved.

"You're getting worse, leaving the trouble to us old guys," Norman said, shaking his head with a wry smile.

"Don't sell yourselves short. You two still got plenty of life left. But you can't just sit around doing nothing, right?" Ethan reminded with a smile.

Only Ethan dared to talk to them like this. Norman and Remington didn't show any anger, instead looking at him with a gratified expression and nodding repeatedly.

"The hidden sects have always been a major threat to this country. The number of hidden sects is still a mystery; even Celestia Vale doesn't know," Remington said calmly, but his words made everyone's hearts sink again.
