After a short flight, Ethan and Sarah arrived at Seattle International Airport, over 2,000 miles away.
After getting off the plane, they saw that the Harris family was already waiting at the exit. They were accompanied by Evander, Shine Group’s vice president.
Sarah greeted and introduced Ethan, “Evander, let me introduce you. This is Ethan Wilson, whom my grandfather invited to deal with the QU Group crisis. Please give him your full support in his work!”
“Nice to meet you, Mr. Wilson!” Evander quickly shook hands with Ethan and politely greeted him.
The news of Ethan being expelled from the Wilsons and Cloud Group’s ownership being changed had already spread throughout the upper echelons of the business world.
“Nice to meet you too!” Ethan thought to himself that Evander was indeed a cunning person.
After exchanging greetings, the look in his eyes indicated that he knew what should not be said, yet he still managed to convey his intended meaning.
People like him best understood people’s intentions and knew how to handle things. In terms of speech and demeanor, Ethan gave him a high score.
“Miss Harris, Mr. Wilson, please follow me. We’ve prepared a welcome banquet for you.” Evander said as he led the way.
“Mr. Wilson, we’ve already booked the hotel for both of you. It's already noon, so please have a meal first. Afterward, I'll tell you the situation regarding QU Group!” Evander, being a rational man, went straight to the point after exchanging pleasantries.
Ethan and Sarah had no objections, following him and the others out of the airport terminal.
QU Group was the leading enterprise in Seattle’s real estate industry and has been established for twenty years. It was well-known throughout the city.
The chairman, Frank, made his first fortune thirty years ago by selling goods as a street vendor, and then gradually developed QU Group from a small company into a commercial legend with a market value of billions today.
This was the information Ethan found online before arriving.
He wasn't sure how accurate it was, as various signs during QU Group's rapid development phase ten years ago indicated that there were people supporting Frank in the dark and driving the company’s comprehensive rise.
Regardless, Frank’s abilities were worthy of recognition. Otherwise, even if he had a backer, he would need some value first to be supported!
QU Group’s Tower was one of the landmark buildings in downtown Seattle. All the way from the airport to the city, Ethan could see the company’s towering skyscraper in the core commercial district, luxurious and dazzling.
In Frank's office at the building, he was currently reviewing information regarding the government's plans for a new business district. It was something they had to be aware of in real estate.
At this moment, his son, Louis, pushed the door open and said, “Dad, I just received news that the Harris family's people have arrived in Seattle. It seems to be Sarah, Clarence’s granddaughter and Nathaniel’s daughter. Nathaniel is the family’s second son!”
Frank's eyebrows furrowed, closing the file as he scolded in dissatisfaction, “You’re always so lax. Don't you know to knock before entering?”
“I was in a hurry! The Harris family sent some people over this time, and it’s most likely due to those two pieces of land!” Louis said, looking frustrated.
“Do they not have anyone left? They actually sent a woman over to snatch our goods. Is that possible? Even if Clarence came in person, it would still be useless. What's there to be worried about?” Frank coldly laughed, showing his disdain and strong confidence in his words.
“However, Sarah is accompanied by a young man. We took two photos of him from afar when we trailed Evander to the airport. I've already sent someone to investigate that man’s background.”
Louis placed two photos on Frank’s desk and said, “Look!”
Frank glanced at them, his eyes widening in surprise. “So, the Harris family teamed up with the Wilsons, huh? When did that happen?”
“Dad, who is he?” Louis was intrigued and suddenly remembered something. “Wait, are you saying he’s the business genius who was kicked out of Cloud Group some time ago?”
Frank chuckled lightly, making his decision. “What business genius? He’s just an arrogant young man. Since the Harris family has made a move, we should naturally respond. Have someone watch over their activities, especially Ethan. Let's test this guy's abilities when the time is right!”
“Are you suggesting...?” Louis hesitated.
“Now that they've come to Seattle, they’ve stepped on our turf. As hosts, we should extend a proper welcome when the time is right.” Frank leaned back on his chair, lighting a Cuban cigar as he blew a smoke ring.
Upon hearing this, Louis smirked. He also wanted to know what it felt like to crush a business genius underfoot!
On the other hand, Ethan and Sarah had just arrived at a five-star hotel in the city. They dropped off their luggage in the two presidential suites they booked and then went to the restaurant for lunch with Evander.
“This hotel is the closest to our group’s headquarters, being only a few minutes of walking away. Settle down and let me know if you need anything, I’ll come quickly!” Evander said while they were dining.
“Thank you for your hard work. You can eat while telling us about any news regarding QU Group.” Ethan knew that the information he had gathered from the internet or the news could only serve as a reference. To truly gain control over QU Group, he needed to go in-depth, particularly with their key figure, Frank.
“Well, during the chairman's coma, Alan was still Shine Group’s president. At that time, he ignored the board of directors’ and senior executives’ refusals and privately sold me the two plots of land I bought for 5.8 billion dollars to QU Group. As of now, they’ve already signed the transfer contract.” Evander spoke with slight anger in his eyes. It was obvious he wasn’t holding back in cursing Alan!
Ethan squinted his eyes and bluntly asked, “Even if Alan wants to be reckless, he would still needs to maintain his reputation, no?”
“Reputation? QU Group proposed to exchange 5% of their circulating shares, and he actually agreed! How is that any different from giving it away for free?” Talking about this, Evander's expression grew even more upset, his tone full of resentment.
“That is the same as…”
“Handing over his company’s interests over to an outsider. He’s really gone too far!” Sarah's face also became gloomy.
“You should know that these two plots were within Seattle’s latest planned commercial area. They have bright future development prospects. After development, their total values would estimate to be at least over 10 billion US dollars. It's not just about losing these two lands, but the entire group's future!” Evander's grief and indignation grew as he spoke.
Ethan had been observing the man and could tell that his emotions were genuine, ruling out the possibility of him colluding with Alan.
