Chapter 475 Using One's Own Tactics Against Them

Listening to Logan's endless excuses, Ethan was getting fed up. He waved his hand like he was swatting a fly and said, "Cut the crap. What's the deal?"

"The deal is, Zephyr's up to no good. He's just playing me. How did I not see it? So, I started spying on him and Dashiell, and guess what? They're plotting against you and Brady." Logan finally got to the juicy part after all that rambling.

"So, you ran to Brady, and now you're here to spill the beans to me, right?" Ethan rolled his eyes so hard they almost got stuck. He couldn't believe Logan suddenly got a clue. Turns out, he just wanted to score points with Brady first.

"Yeah, I took a big risk telling you this. If Zephyr finds out, I'm toast. But if he's gonna be a snake, I'm not playing nice either. Does he think I'm that dumb?" Logan puffed up his chest like he just won a medal.

"Let me guess, Brady came to you first, didn't he?" Ethan squinted, trying to keep his cool.

"Yeah." Logan nodded like a bobblehead.

Ethan thought, 'Brady probably dragged you here by the ear. And you think you're some kind of genius. Man, you're a letdown.'

Ethan stared at Logan for a few seconds, then sighed. He had planned to use Logan against Brady, but now he just felt sorry for the guy.

"Alright, you can go now. I got what I needed." Ethan waved him off, half-laughing, half-annoyed, wanting Logan gone ASAP.

"Wait, that's it?" Logan looked like a deer in headlights.

"What else?" Ethan raised an eyebrow.

"I just gave you some prime intel. Aren't you gonna thank me or something?" Logan puffed up again, looking for some praise.

"Thank you, huh?" Ethan was speechless but then had a lightbulb moment. Maybe Logan wasn't totally useless.

"Yeah, how are you gonna thank me?" Logan asked, all eager.

"So, by telling me this, you're ditching Zephyr and siding with me, right?" Ethan asked, testing the waters.

"Isn't it obvious?" Logan nodded like it was the most natural thing in the world. "Don't you know who's got your back?"

"Alright, I get it. You're on my side. So, I promise, if Zephyr messes with you, I'll have your back. And once the Wilson family drama is over, I'll make sure you're living the good life. Deal?" Ethan asked, dead serious.

"Sounds good. You're way better than Brady." Logan nodded, looking pleased.

"So, Brady made you a promise too?" Ethan chuckled.

"Yeah, he said he'd protect me from Zephyr, but he didn't mention any perks," Logan said, rolling his eyes.

"I can give you perks, but you gotta do one more thing for me," Ethan said, getting serious again.

"What do you need?" Logan asked, suddenly looking suspicious.

Ethan was speechless again, wondering if Logan was really that clueless or just playing dumb. How did he suddenly get so cautious?

"What I need you to do is pretty simple. Zephyr and Dashiell don't know you spilled the beans to me and Brady, right?" Ethan asked, grinning.

"I only told you and Brady. No one else knows. But Brady said he wouldn't handle it and told me to find you, saying you'd deal with Zephyr. He probably won't go after Zephyr first," Logan said after thinking it over.

Ethan thought, 'Brady's clearly using Logan to put pressure on me, reminding me there are folks in the Wilson family who want us to clash. At least, that's what it looks like on the surface. Otherwise, he wouldn't have sent Logan to spill the tea.'

But Ethan wasn't sure if Brady really wanted to make peace or just keep him in check for now.

"Alright, Zephyr probably doesn't know you ratted him out. I need you to do me a favor. Do you know where Zephyr is now?" Ethan had a plan brewing and asked Logan.

"He's still in Everglow City. He said he'd come back with Dashiell tomorrow," Logan explained.

"Perfect. When he comes back tomorrow, go find him and tell him..." Ethan leaned in and whispered in Logan's ear.

Logan's eyes went wide like he'd seen a ghost and quickly shook his head. "You're nuts. If I tell him that and Brady finds out, I'm dead meat."

"Relax. As long as you say it, I guarantee no one will touch you. Besides, if I become the head of the Wilson family the day after tomorrow, even Brady will have to listen to me. Who scares you more, him or me? Don't forget, I'm the one promising you a good life," Ethan threatened.

"Are you sure? You can't back out on this," Logan was torn, still worried Ethan might not keep his word.

"Don't worry. As long as you do what I say, I guarantee that after the headship ceremony, I'll send you to Novaria. You can keep living the high life, and no one will dare mess with you," Ethan said seriously, not trying to con Logan.

Even though Logan was a bit of a playboy, as long as he didn't go overboard, supporting him in the future wouldn't be a big deal. The Wilson family had plenty of cash to support a freeloader.

"Alright. I'll trust you this time. But if I really tell Zephyr, you gotta make sure I'm safe," Logan thought it over for a long time and finally decided to stick with Ethan.

"I'll keep my word." Ethan nodded confidently, but inside he was smirking.

Brady probably didn't expect Ethan to use Logan to set up both Zephyr and him.

Logan finally left, and Ethan suddenly felt that he wasn't as annoying as he seemed before. Logan's interruption seemed to have lifted his previously bad mood.

Calling the two guards back, Ethan returned to the Shadow Gang's meeting hall. As he walked in, he saw Elmer lounging, sipping tea, and giving him a knowing look.

"You seem to be in a good mood," Ethan raised an eyebrow and said with a grin.

"Aren't you the same? Even with a dope like Logan, you didn't miss the chance to use him. Aren't you worried Brady will off him?" Elmer reminded him.

"He won't, and he doesn't dare, unless he wants to go to war with me." Ethan knew that his chat with Logan outside wouldn't go unnoticed by Elmer. He wasn't surprised that Elmer knew their conversation and responded with a confident, cold smile.
