Chapter 452 Laura's Despair

Looking at Laura, who was begging him non-stop, Enrique's grin just got bigger. It was like putting her down gave him some twisted joy.

"Remember, you're nothing to me but a good time. Whatever I say, you do." Enrique suddenly grabbed Laura's cheeks, yanking her head up, and laid it out in a tone that brooked no argument.

"Yeah, let's hit the sack. I'll make sure you're happy." Laura's face was all desperate, her voice shaking with fear and pleading as she begged Enrique.

"Think about everything the Hall Family has now, isn't it all because of me? I can give you all this, and I can take it back just as easily. You know what happens if you cross me." Enrique nodded, satisfied, then let out a laugh.

Tears slid down Laura's cheeks, but she could only force a smile at the monster in front of her.

Soon, the nightmare played out again, leaving Laura even more hopeless.

That night, Ethan brought Jessie and Gerald to a guesthouse outside Bankgok Prison, where they met a worn-out Emily.

Like Gerald, Emily was over the moon to see Jessie, hugging her with tears of joy. Jessie's sudden return and Jared's upcoming release made her happy. But to Ethan, this happiness was laced with irony.

The four of them chatted for a bit and decided to crash at the guesthouse for the night.

Ethan and Jessie weren't picky. The guesthouse wasn't as fancy as a hotel, but one night there was no biggie.

In Bankgok Prison, just a wall away, Jared, who was about to be released, lay on the cold iron bed, wide awake.

For eight years, he lived like a zombie, haunted by nightmares almost every night. Laura, the woman he once loved, would turn into a blood-soaked ghost, lunging at him with a terrifying snarl.

He woke up from these nightmares over and over, and the night before his release, he couldn't sleep at all. He knew why he was locked up. Even if he told his side, no one would believe him or help him.

During these eight years, he thought about ending it all, but every time Emily and Gerald visited, he had to push those thoughts away. They were his only reason to keep going.

In the morning, as the first light of day shone through the cold iron window into the cell, Jared still stared blankly at the sky outside.

His cellmates got up quietly to wash and get ready for another day of labor, but none of them even glanced at Jared.

In prison, the crime Jared was convicted of was the most hated. For eight years, he endured not just inner torment but also the scorn and bullying of everyone around him. Luckily, this nightmare was finally ending today!

Since he was about to be released, Jared didn't have to join in the day's labor. It wasn't until the guard knocked on the iron door that Jared snapped out of his thoughts.

"Inmate 8795, Jared, pack up and come out." The guard's indifferent voice came from outside.

Jared got up quietly. There wasn't much to pack. He used the small prison sink to wash his face and then stepped out of the cell he'd called home for eight long years.

Outside the prison, Jessie, Ethan, Emily, and Gerald had already checked out and were waiting in the car by the gate.

Gerald and Emily were buzzing with excitement, their eyes wet with tears, glued to the iron gate with hope.

Just then, a black Range Rover pulled up in front of Ethan's car, making him raise an eyebrow.

Even though the folks in the Range Rover didn't step out, Ethan could see their faces clear as day. It was Enrique and Laura.

Their sudden appearance made Ethan realize they weren't here to kill Jared but to mess with his head.

'Man, how twisted is Enrique to pull something like this on Jared?' Ethan frowned and whispered to Jessie that Enrique and Laura were in the car ahead.

Jessie's face changed when she heard. She glanced at Emily and Gerald, who were still eagerly waiting in the back seat, and then shook her head at Ethan.

Ethan sighed and didn't say more. He could make Enrique and Laura disappear his own way, but that wouldn't fix anything. Some things had to be faced head-on, and Jared's justice needed to come from these two.

"You don't look too thrilled," Enrique said, eyeing the silent Laura with displeasure from the Range Rover.

"Can I stay in the car?" Laura asked softly.

"Scared to see him? When you lied in court eight years ago, did you think about today?" Enrique laughed darkly.

Laura looked up at Enrique, opened her mouth, but in the end, didn't say a word. Maybe she deserved all this.

The loud noise of the iron gate slowly opening came from the prison gate across the street.

Emily and Gerald couldn't hold back their excitement as the gate opened. They jumped out of the car and walked towards the gate.

"Let's wait and see. Maybe with a little push, the truth about Jared will come out," Ethan turned to Jessie and said, then got out of the car.

Jessie sighed, got out, and glanced at the black Range Rover, seeing Enrique and Laura step out.

Enrique and Laura also spotted Ethan and the others. Enrique looked a bit surprised, but then he sneered.

"Isn't that... why is she here?" Gerald's face showed both shock and anger when he saw Laura. But after glancing at Ethan, he held back his rage.

"What's she doing here? Is she here for Jared? Who's that guy?" Emily didn't expect to see Laura. She didn't know as much as Gerald and didn't know the details of Jared's imprisonment. She thought Laura was still after Jared and got anxious.

"Don't worry, we're here just to get Jared. No matter what happens, I'll handle it." Ethan signaled Emily and Gerald to stay calm. He didn't even look at Enrique and Laura, like they were beneath him.

From a distance, Enrique looked at Ethan and frowned, puzzled.
