Chapter 240 One for One
In the ward, the medical experts were busy conducting detailed examinations of Lysander's various physical indicators. Dorian and Kenny stood there with grim faces, saying nothing. The mood was subdued to the extreme.
At this moment, Caspar hurried in and asked Dorian and Kenny, "How is it? Have you found the cause?"
"It must be Ethan's doing. How could a person suddenly faint for no reason? He's clearly trying to pin this on me!" Kenny snorted.
Dorian suddenly slapped Kenny, leaving both Kenny and Caspar stunned!
In fact, Dorian's indulgence towards Kenny was no less than Caspar's, perhaps even more so. If he wasn't extremely angry, how could he bear to hit Kenny?
"You still have the nerve to talk? If you hadn't gone looking for trouble with those young people from the Harris family, how could this have happened? Even if Ethan wanted to set you up, he wouldn't have had the chance! I kept telling you to be patient, but you wouldn't listen!" Dorian snorted.
"Are you crazy? Kenny didn't expect Ethan to be so insidious! Instead of going after Ethan, why are you taking it out on your own son?" Caspar looked at the slap mark on Kenny's face with a heartbroken expression and scolded Dorian.
"It's all because of your spoiling!" Dorian immediately lost his temper. In fact, he regretted the slap as soon as he gave it!
Unexpectedly, within a day, Kenny had received slaps from both his parents. Certainly, he was furious. However, he blamed it all on Ethan, and his hatred for Ethan had reached a maddening level!
At this moment, the experts responsible for examining Lysander came out of the room.
"How is it? Have you found the cause of the coma?" Dorian asked with a frown.
"It's very strange. On the surface, there's nothing abnormal, but the body is in an extremely weakened state with a risk of organ failure at any time, which means a life-threatening situation!" the lead expert took off his mask and explained helplessly.
"Could it be that someone tampered with the patient?" Dorian's face turned extremely grim.
"It's hard to say. Frankly, his condition is the same as Isolde's, except without external injuries. Everything else is almost identical!" The expert shook his head helplessly.
"Blasted Ethan, he's so despicable!" Caspar cursed angrily from the side.
"Enough. Isn't it all because Kenny gave him the opportunity? Didn't you want to return to the Salvador family? Take Kenny and hide now. I'll handle the rest!" Dorian snorted.
"I'm not going! I want to stay in Everglow City and make Ethan pay!" Kenny stubbornly refused.
"Where is Kenny going?" Before Dorian could get angry, a man's voice suddenly came through.
Everyone turned their heads to see a group of uniformed officers, led by Bennit, walking towards them.
"Bennit? Why are you here?" Dorian's eyes twitched. He sensed trouble.
"Lysander is in the hands of the Ashford family. Why do you think I'm here? The Ashford family has some nerve, daring to detain a colonel from the Security Bureau," Bennit snorted.
He cursed Ethan as the real culprit inwardly, 'Ethan dragging Percival into this mess is bad enough, but now he dragged me in as well, leaving me no choice but to get involved! After all, Percival is also on Ethan's side.'
"Bennit, there must be some misunderstanding. We absolutely did not detain Lysander, especially since he's a colonel from the Security Bureau. The main issue is that he fainted in our mall, and we had to investigate the matter thoroughly, so we brought him to the hospital for a comprehensive examination!" Dorian explained lightly, hiding their responsibility for Lysander's coma.
"But how come I heard that Lysander fell into a coma because he was surrounded by your people in your place?" Bennit smirked inscrutably.
"Bennit, you need evidence to make such claims. Lysander is lying in there right now. You can check for yourself. Kenny did indeed disagree with him, but he absolutely did not lay a hand on him!" Dorian's face turned grim.
"I will investigate. But until this matter is cleared up, Kenny will have to come with me!" As soon as Bennit finished speaking, several officers beside him pulled out military handcuffs and approached Kenny.
"Why are you arresting me? I didn't do anything!" Kenny immediately struggled. If it weren't for the military background of these officers, he would have fought back already!
"Bennit, what is the meaning of this?" Dorian's face also changed instantly.
"Bennit, do you really think you can turn black into white?" Caspar stood protectively in front of Kenny, angrily questioning.
"I said the matter is still under investigation. We need Kenny to come with us to cooperate with the investigation. If it turns out he has nothing to do with it, we will naturally release him!" Bennit explained calmly.
"But what if something happens to Kenny while he's in your custody?" Caspar sneered dismissively. "You're clearly abusing your power for personal revenge. Do you believe I won't report you to the military?"
"Mrs. Ashford, feel free to do so if you wish. You should know where the door to the military inspectorate is. But I must take him away today, or I have the right to enforce battlefield regulations!" Bennit retorted, thinking, 'I can tolerate Dorian's actions, but how dare Caspar also exhibit such boisterous behavior towards me?'
As soon as he finished speaking, the remaining officers immediately drew their guns.
"Wait! You can take him, but I hope nothing happens to Kenny before the investigation is clear! Otherwise, no matter where, I will demand an explanation!" Dorian shouted angrily, gritting his teeth as he reminded Bennit.
"I'm fair. Thank you for your cooperation. It's much appreciated," Bennit said, signaling the officers to put their guns away.
"Dad, are you really letting them take me away?" Kenny didn't expect Dorian to compromise at this moment and stared at him in disbelief.
"Given the situation, you have to go with them. You didn't do anything wrong, so what are you afraid of? Don't worry. No one can wrong you. The way they take you away, I'll make sure they bring you back the same way!" Dorian promised Kenny confidently.
"Take him away!" Bennit didn't waste any more words. He had two soldiers handcuff Kenny and take the latter away immediately.
"Thank you for your cooperation. Goodbye!" Bennit glanced at Dorian and turned to leave.
"Wait, aren't you taking Lysander with you?" Dorian immediately called out to Bennit.
"Since he fell ill in your place, you should be responsible. If you can wake Lysander up, maybe Kenny will come back soon!" Bennit said as he walked out, not looking back.
"What does he mean by that?" Caspar asked, wide-eyed.
"Isn't it obvious? Trade Lysander for Kenny!" Dorian understood Bennit's meaning and realized what Ethan was up to. He thought to himself, 'Ethan caused such a commotion to make me beg him!'
