Chapter 521 An Unacceptable Outcome

Raymond's explanation left Ethan totally floored.

Turns out, Pantheon and Celestia Vale were tied up with Cross Christianity, and from what Raymond was saying, it looked like Cross Christianity was made up of defectors from both sides as a third-party. Ethan never would've guessed Cross Christianity started like that.

"Way back when, Cross Christianity popped up. Pantheon and Celestia Vale split into two camps. Just like Asura Bloodhand before, Cross Christianity had a ton of those kinds of folks. The rejects from both sides, who couldn't find a place in Pantheon and Celestia Vale, decided to set up their own gangs and turf in different spots abroad, creating what we now call Cross Christianity," Raymond went on.

"So, you're saying Matthew was one of them?" Ethan squinted and asked, trying to stay cool.

"From what we've dug up so far, yeah. I know you don't wanna believe it, but that's probably the deal." Raymond sighed, looking kinda helpless.

Ethan took a deep breath and asked, not really committing, "Did you drag me here just to spill this?"

Raymond heard that and shook his head with a grin. Ethan frowned, looking suspicious.

"Even if I didn't say it, you'd have figured it out. I just laid it out for you. Right or wrong, that's for you to decide," Raymond explained with a smile, seeing Ethan's confused look.

"Let's get back to the main point." Ethan felt kinda exasperated.

"I wanna tell you a story." Raymond suddenly switched his tone, looking all serious.

Ethan's heart skipped a beat, and he waited quietly for Raymond to go on.

After thinking for a bit, Raymond seemed to be digging up some old memories. As he thought, he slowly started talking, "Eighty years ago, during some crazy times, Celestia Vale and other hidden Guilds, because of a deal with Pantheon, couldn't fully step up to defend their homes. We could only send warriors below the master level, the youngest from each faction, to join the fight.

Me and my two junior buddies were among these young warriors, leaving Celestia Vale to head down the mountain.

With me was Phoenix, who you know well, and the youngest of us, Quentin Saunders. We grew up in Celestia Vale and were both curious and pumped about the outside world.

After fighting together in the regular world for a while, our thoughts and personalities shifted.

I, being the oldest, always played by the rules and was careful, while Phoenix was super kind-hearted. Quentin, who had just turned eighteen, was a hothead, hated evil, and had a serious thirst for blood.

One day, we heard that foreign invaders were about to hit a small town, so we teamed up with the local forces to fight them off.

The invaders weren't all that tough or many, but they had this one super strong leader using some weird technique we'd never seen before. Even so, with everyone pitching in, we managed to help the town fend them off.

But no one could nab the top dog, who slipped away in the chaos. Quentin, who saw the guy kill an innocent woman and kid, swore he'd get revenge and chased after him, even though we tried to stop him.

Quentin fell into a trap set by the enemy and was in deep trouble. At the last second, he was saved by Francis, but the leader still got away.

That run-in eighty years ago forged an unbreakable bond between Francis and us.

Back then, Francis didn't know we were from Celestia Vale. Since Quentin and he hit it off right away, both hating evil, Quentin suggested Francis join Celestia Vale.

Before Phoenix and I could say anything, Francis's face changed when he heard we were from Celestia Vale. He stormed off, leaving us totally confused.

Later, Quentin told me Francis was from the ZF Guild. Knowing some of Celestia Vale's history, I got why and warned Quentin not to mention Celestia Vale if we ran into Francis again.

Quentin didn't get it or agree with our worries. He had several chances to fight alongside Francis and never gave up on the idea of bringing him into Celestia Vale.

Quentin heard from Francis that the ZF Guild was down to just him. If he joined Celestia Vale, he could help revive the ZF Guild.

Quentin genuinely wanted to help Francis, but Francis didn't appreciate it and got super hostile. Quentin, feeling stuck, turned to me and Phoenix for answers.

I, unable to resist Quentin's persistence, reported the encounter with Francis to Celestia Vale. Unexpectedly, they supported bringing Francis in and told me to persuade him to join.

Quentin was over the moon, but Phoenix and I, knowing Celestia Vale's history, were deeply worried."

"So Francis joined Celestia Vale later, but I still don't get the connection between Celestia Vale and the ZF Guild. Why did Francis freak out when he heard about Celestia Vale?" Ethan couldn't help but ask.

"This is what I want to tell you. Celestia Vale was originally the ZF Guild, or rather, the Celestia Vale secret realm was originally the ZF Guild's place." Raymond's words left Ethan wide-eyed and stunned.

"Are you saying that Celestia Vale was originally the ZF Guild's, and this secret realm was also supposed to be the ZF Guild's?" Ethan, still in shock, asked Raymond again for confirmation.

"Exactly," Raymond nodded with a bitter smile.

"Then what about my Tiger Mount secret realm?" Ethan quickly asked.
