Chapter36 Incident
In fact, Jayden didn’t know what really happened. However, Tim’s hostile attitude, and the family’s sudden video meeting was enough to give him a bad feeling.
“Sir, there are definite signs of an internal power struggle within the family, and the situation seems to be escalating...”
“I don't know the details, but the elders are waiting for you to return and do a video conference. I also got this news just now,“ Jayden explained, his worried look becoming more evident.
“Ethan, you really have no manners to return so late. Don’t you know the elders are waiting for you?” Tim scolded Ethan arrogantly.
Ever since Ethan walked in earlier indifferently, Tim had been holding back his anger.
“Who do you think you are? If I have to use my status as a cousin to suppress you, I don't really care. You’re nothing in my eyes!” Ethan responded expressionlessly.
Tim didn't expect him to have the audacity to fight back, his face darkening. Afterward, he thought of the upcoming video conference and smirked maliciously before saying, “Fine, enjoy your arrogance for now. A few minutes later, you’ll be crying!”
“That's enough, Sir. Let's start the meeting quickly so the elders don't have to wait any longer,“ Jayden said, not wanting Ethan to fight with Tim anymore. Otherwise, it’d make things difficult, even for Ethan.
Before Tim could retort, Jayden had already pressed the control button, switching the video to the conference room.
In the center of the video was an old man with a white beard and eyebrows. His thin and wrinkled face was red, his sharp eyes emitting a formidable aura.
This old man was Elder Brady, the Wilson family’s current head and Tim's grandfather.
On his left and right were two other elders, both with cold and stern expressions at the camera.
Seeing these vaguely familiar faces, Ethan couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. Ever since he was banished three years ago, he’d never expected to meet them again like this. They never contacted him until now, as if they had completely forgotten about him.
“Grandfather, respected elders!” Tim immediately bowed and greeted the video with a smile, showing a stark contrast to Ethan’s calm and unaffected demeanor
“Ethan, why didn't you greet the elders when you saw them?” Brady narrowed his eyes and asked in a low voice.
“Don’t you already have Tim to be your good grandson? Since you wouldn’t really care about me, I won't join in this lively scene,” Ethan replied calmly.
“I initially thought you were just being mischievous and you’d still redeem yourself, but now it seems you're not even willing to fight for your last chance.” Brady angrily sneered in a low, menacing tone.
“Stop beating around the bush and get straight to the point. Don’t you have something to discuss?” Ethan responded nonchalantly.
“I'm extremely busy right now, and I don’t want to waste anyone’s time. Therefore, you should stop labeling me as someone who doesn't know better!” Ethan urged impatiently.
“Ethan, what’s with this attitude? How dare you talk to the elders like this? “One elder immediately slammed the table and angrily questioned.
“Alright, let's get straight to the point. I'm asking you, will you accept being the family’s heir? This is your last chance, so think carefully before answering.
Otherwise, you will lose everything you have now and be banished completely from the Wilsons!” Brady waved his hand, signaling the elder beside him to calm down.
Ethan furrowed his brows. Whenever things don't go as he expected, there was probably something suspicious going on. Was Brady so eager to change his attitude and make him the heir just because of his business abilities?
“I’ve never thought of being the heir, nor do I care.” He replied bluntly. Since he suspected something fishy, he would never agree to this. Who knew if they were setting a trap for him?
“Have you thought this through? If you give up, not only will you lose Cloud Group, but you’ll also be banished from our family!” Brady's face immediately turned grim, and the other elders revealed uncertain expressions. Seeing this, Ethan could confirm his guess even more.
“I believe the elders haven’t ages so much to the point they can't hear me, right?” Ethan was determined. This made Jayden anxious on the side, but unfortunately, he had little influence and couldn't say anything.
“Ethan, you chose this, so you can't blame anyone else! Now, as an elder of the Wilson family, I banish you from the Wilson family. We will cut all ties immediately, and your position as Cloud Group’s chairman is revoked, with Tim temporarily assume that position. Let it be known to everyone immediately!” Brady snorted coldly, announcing Ethan's expulsion from the Wilsons without mercy.
“Grandfather, you can rest assured that I will take over Cloud Group and ensure its further success!” Tim exclaimed joyfully. Whilst expressing gratitude, he also looked at Ethan with imperiousness.
“Elders, this isn’t right... All these years, it was Ethan who’d revived the declining Cloud Group and contributed greatly to the Wilsons…” Jayden's face immediately turned sour and couldn't help but plead for Ethan.
“Enough, Jayden. They’ve already decided this, so how you change it with a few words?” Ethan interrupted him, knowing that it was futile to plead at this point.
Jayden suddenly lowered his head and fell silent.
“Ethan, how dare you act arrogantly in front of me?” Tim mocked him with a smug look on his face.
Unfortunately, Ethan still treated him like air, acting as if he hadn't heard a word.
After some silence, he looked up at Brady and said slowly, “Since it has come to this, I won’t complain if you want to remove me from the Wilsons. However, Cloud Group was my hard work. Without me, it would’ve long gone bankrupt! All these years, my only hope was to get a single answer. As long as you can tell me the truth about the car accident that killed my father and caused my mother's disappearance, I will hand Cloud Group over.“
Upon hearing this, the faces of the elders changed simultaneously, clearly shocked by his question.
Nobody in the Wilson family had mentioned that car accident for years. They didn't expect him to still hold onto it after so long!
“You’re no longer a member of the Wilson family, so why should I tell you? Moreover, Cloud Group was originally our property; why must I wait for you to hand it over? Do you think you're the only one capable of doing so? Let me warn you, this is my family’s top secret, and outsiders have no right to know. If you dare to investigate it privately, don't blame me for not showing mercy! The meeting is over!”
Brady's response was extremely decisive, with no intention of explaining. Afterward, he directly ended the video.
“Perhaps I should’ve expected this outcome, Brady. However, do you think everything is under your control? I'll make you realize that even if I leave the Wilson family, I won't tolerate anyone stepping on me!”
Ethan clenched his fist tightly, shocked that even after leaving the family, Brady still didn’t want to say anything about the car accident. In an instant, his anger reached its peak.
Turning his head, he coldly stared at Tim’s proud face before walking out of the conference room without looking back.
