Chapter 315 Aftermath

Robert didn't expect trouble to keep piling up, so he quickly sent someone to check it out.

The person who had jumped into the estate barely took a few steps before collapsing on the lawn, unconscious.

"Who is this now? Could it be the same person from earlier?"

"No... he's bald!"

Some of the guests nearby saw the newcomer's face and gasped in surprise.

"Help me over there!" Ethan said, struggling to stand as Chloe and Sarah supported him.

"You're in no shape to be worrying about this," Sarah said, clearly anxious.

"I'm fine. Saving a life is more important; he can't die!" Ethan insisted, and Chloe and Sarah helped him over to the figure on the ground.

Ethan turned the person over and saw it was Jesse, who was barely hanging on, unconscious and looking like he wouldn't last much longer.

Ignoring his own discomfort, Ethan tore open Jesse's robe and saw a blood-red handprint on his chest, making his eyes widen.

The crowd gasped. The handprint looked like it had crushed Jesse's chest.

"Mr. Wilson, he's too far gone. You should rest," Robert urged, seeing Jesse's condition.

Ethan ignored everyone, pulled out a few needles, and quickly inserted them into several points on Jesse's chest.

The crowd was speechless. Did Ethan really think he could save Jesse?

After finishing the treatment, Ethan couldn't hold on any longer and fainted into Chloe's arms.

The estate was in chaos, and Robert's birthday party was completely disrupted.

In the dense forest, Ronald looked at the blood-soaked, unconscious Larry with a grim expression. He hadn't expected Ethan to be able to injure Larry so badly.

"Could it be him? But why didn't I sense his presence?" Ronald muttered, glancing at the estate before picking up Larry and disappearing into the forest.

By the time they left Novaria, dawn had broken. After a night of travel, Ronald finally stopped.

Still in the forest, Ronald placed Larry on a large rock and began to use his energy to heal Larry.

Before long, Larry took a breath and slowly opened his eyes.

"Ronald... I failed... I'm sorry," Larry said weakly, feeling both relieved and regretful upon seeing Ronald.

"What exactly happened? Was it him?" Ronald asked, narrowing his eyes.

"No... it was Ethan... he injured me," Larry explained, shaking his head.

"Ethan! How come?" Ronald's eyes widened in disbelief.

"I guess... it must be related... to the treasures," Larry speculated.

"If I'd known, I would've rushed in to grab it no matter what!" Ronald cursed angrily, but it was too late.

"Jesse... how's Jesse?" Larry asked, his face twisted with venom.

"Even though he managed to withstand two of my moves and eventually escaped, I injured him badly. He won't survive," Ronald replied grimly.

"That's... that's good," Larry muttered before his eyes rolled back, and he fainted again.

Watching Larry pass out again, Ronald's expression shifted. He picked Larry up and set off once more.

When Ethan woke up, he found himself in a luxurious room. Chloe and Sarah were sitting by the bedside, looking worried.

Camila was also lying beside Ethan, fast asleep, with tear stains on her cheeks, showing she had cried herself to sleep.

"You're awake?" Chloe and Sarah's faces lit up with joy as they saw Ethan finally wake up.

"How long was I out?" Ethan asked, checking his condition before sitting up in bed.

"Why are you getting up?" Chloe quickly grabbed a few pillows to prop him up, but Ethan got out of bed, looking as if he had fully recovered.

"I'm fine. I told you it was just exhaustion. A bit of rest was all I needed," Ethan said nonchalantly.

Seeing that he indeed seemed fine, Chloe and Sarah finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"You scared us to death. You slept for over ten hours; it's already past nine in the morning!" Sarah said.

"Did I really sleep that long?" Ethan smiled bitterly. In the final moments of his battle with Larry, he used a technique from the ZF knack medical chapter to stimulate his body's potential. This not only restored his strength but also significantly increased it, bringing him close to the Half-Step Grandmaster level, which ultimately allowed him to defeat Larry.

However, this method of exhausting one's potential came with severe side effects. It caused significant, almost irreversible damage, which could prevent the user from ever advancing in strength again.

Ethan had chosen the most desperate method to turn the tide in a critical moment, making it highly likely that he would never reach the master level. Such a price was one that few would be willing to pay.

However, Ethan had no other choice. Using this self-destructive method to save his life was better than being crippled or killed by Larry.

Of course, he wouldn't tell anyone about this, especially not his opponents.

"By the way, how is Jesse? Where did you place him?" Ethan suddenly remembered Jesse and asked Chloe and Sarah.

"Jesse? You mean the man? He's in the next room, but he's barely hanging on. Are you still planning to save him?" Chloe asked, furrowing her brows.

"Since I saved his life, I must continue to help him. He can't die now," Ethan said gravely before heading out of the room.

It wasn't that he had a particularly good relationship with Jesse, but he couldn't let Jesse die in Novaria. If this incident were blamed on him, the situation would become truly dire.
