Chapter 170 Ethan's Opportunity
After successfully treating Rodolfo's illness, Ethan left with confidence.
The doctors were left in disbelief at his abilities. They found Mr. Grant waiting obediently in his room for the agreed-upon treatment time.
Since Ethan had collapsed while helping him two days ago, the old man felt a sense of guilt and cooperated with the follow-up treatment.
"Why isn't your father here with you today?" Mr. Grant inquired, smiling at Bennit and Ethan.
"My father had surgery to remove two bullet fragments and is resting at home," Bennit casually replied, which was true.
"Ah, Ethan, you removed all the bullet fragments from Remington's body?" Mr. Grant's admiration for Ethan only grew stronger.
Despite his age and experience, he had never encountered a young individual with such exceptional medical skills.
"It's no trouble. I'll continue to cleanse your body of toxins, Mr. Grant," Ethan assured him. Instead of complicating matters, Ethan decided to address the issue of the black aura as toxins and focus on resolving it before discussing anything else.
He didn't want to delve too deeply into the matter at the moment. Returning to the point, this time when Ethan expelled the black aura from Mr. Grant's body, it was visibly less challenging and quicker than before.
Thanks to the protective layer he had previously applied, Ethan could sustain himself for another two to three days with just a minor touch-up. This improvement was largely due to his superpower doubling after the previous depletion.
With one more session, Ethan could completely eliminate the troublesome black auras if he chose to. However, he decided against depleting all his superpower again as he didn't want to experience another day and night of unconsciousness.
"That's all for today. Based on this progress, it will take about three more sessions to fully cleanse your body of toxins," Ethan informed Mr. Grant as he concluded today's treatment.
"You seem to be doing well today, which is a relief. Don't worry about the inconvenience, just be mindful not to overexert yourself," Mr. Grant unexpectedly expressed concern for Ethan's well-being, feeling reassured by his vigor and absence of fainting spells.
“”Last time was just a fluke. Once the treatment is finished, I guarantee your body will be as healthy as a young person's, and you'll easily live another twenty or thirty years!" Ethan scratched his head.
This wasn't meant to boast, but after his supercharged internal organ treatment, his organs would definitely regain their vitality. As long as Mr. Grant didn't face any unexpected setbacks, living for another twenty or thirty years was a conservative estimate. Of course, every tiger meets its match in the jungle.
Ethan wouldn't dare make such claims in front of Mr. Grant. It might not be wise for more people to know about it. "I never imagined I could live that long. Ten years... at most ten years. As long as I can witness the full recovery of the territory we once lost, I can rest in peace!" Mr. Grant chuckled, his eyes gleaming with hope.
Ethan deeply respected him. He was a true leader who cared for the country and its people, deserving of Ethan's admiration. "I believe that day isn't too far off! You will certainly see it!" Ethan affirmed.
Just then, Bennit opened the door and entered, looking somewhat surprised. "Why did it end so quickly today?
“”Well, that wraps it up for today. Let's pick up where we left off in two days! Mr. Grant, I'll take my leave now and let you rest," Ethan said as he stood up to bid farewell.
Bennit was taken aback by Ethan's lack of interest in leveraging his connection with Mr. Grant for personal gain, given their close association and the debt of saving his life.
Ethan, however, knew his boundaries and showed no inclination to exploit the situation. While Bennit was surprised, he also admired Ethan's composure.
In truth, Ethan had contemplated using Mr. Grant's influence to establish himself in Houston, but out of respect for Mr. Grant's stature and previous remarks, he refrained from making any demands that might disrespect him or his country.
A true gentleman knows when to act and when to refrain, and Ethan, though he didn't consider himself a gentleman, knew how to conduct himself in certain situations.
"Don't rush off just yet! Do you play chess, young man?" Unexpectedly, Mr. Grant extended an invitation to Ethan to stay, surprising Bennit even further.
“Well... I do know a little, but I'm definitely not as good as you, Mr. Grant!" Ethan laughed with some embarrassment.
Mr. Grant chuckled and proposed, "How about another game before you go? I have some time, and I assume you're not in a rush either?" It was a great honor for the younger generation to play with Mr. Grant, a privilege reserved for a select few senior leaders like Alfred.
"Since you're interested, how can I refuse as a junior? Shall we play in your room or in the garden?" Ethan was pleasantly surprised by Mr. Grant's invitation to play chess. Just because he didn't actively seek personal connections didn't mean he didn't appreciate them.
Bennit was also surprised to serve Mr. Grant and Ethan in the garden while they played chess, a level of treatment even their own masters hadn't received before!
