Chapter 538 Ethan's Miscalculation
From the first time Ethan opened that space portal to send Angela into the Tiger Mount secret realm, he kinda regretted it. Didn't think it'd suck up so much energy, losing a third of it just like that.
Then, when he rushed to deal with Raynaur with one punch, it looked easy, but bam, there went another third of his energy.
And finally, dragging Herman into the Tiger Mount secret realm almost wiped him out, nearly making him pass out.
Luckily, with the Sun and Moon Beads and all that spiritual energy in Tiger Mount, Ethan bounced back quick. After a whole day and night, he was back to his prime and woke up from a light nap.
"Francis, how much longer till Ethan's back on his feet? I gotta get back and report," Angela was pacing in the Breeze Pavilion, bugging Francis. She was getting real impatient.
"Chill, he's already here," Francis put down his ancient book and grinned. Right then, Ethan pushed the door open and walked in.
"Ethan, finally!" Angela let out a big sigh of relief, but annoyance was evident in her voice.
"Bet you care more about the Grail than me," Ethan teased, pulling out the Grail and pouting a bit.
Ethan's words were kinda harsh. Angela had been genuinely worried about him all day and night, but she'd never admit it. As for the Grail, she trusted he wouldn't go back on his word.
"Is this the Grail you were talking about?" Francis eyed the Grail in Ethan's hand, curious.
"Yeah, it's just some magical artifact. Everyone's acting like it's a big deal, but I don't see the hype," Ethan shrugged.
"Of course you don't. You've got the Sun and Moon Beads, which are super rare. Why would you care about a simple magical artifact?" Francis rolled his eyes and snatched the Grail from Ethan, checking it out.
"Francis, I need to take the Grail back to report." Angela's face changed, worried Francis might try to keep it.
Francis was surprised, then chuckled, "Relax, I'm just looking. I don't want it. Besides, if I did, your bosses wouldn't say no."
Francis was right. If he asked, neither Norman nor Remington would refuse him. A magical artifact was just a thing, but Francis was a legit master-level expert.
It was like if Phoenix asked Norman for something, Norman would hand it over if he could. Having a master-level expert on their side was a big deal for the country and a major deterrent against foreign threats.
"Alright, nothing special to see here. Give the Grail back to her. Where's Herman?" Ethan suddenly asked.
"He's in the back room. You wanna grill him here or take him somewhere else?" Francis pointed to a side room and asked Ethan.
"Let him chill for now. We need two people to question him. I'll take her out first." Ethan thought for a sec, then snatched the Grail from Francis and handed it to Angela.
"Cool." Francis nodded.
Usually, Ethan would pop in and out of Tiger Mount from the same spot, but getting back to Lope Town would be a pain. Luckily, he had left a space mark at the exit of the SA Guild secret realm, which was super handy now.
A few moments later, Ethan and Angela appeared in the forest at the exit of the SA Guild secret realm.
"We're back in Vexa?" Angela looked around the lush forest, wide-eyed.
"Yeah, duh. I burned so much energy, and it wasn't even worth the few thousand miles of travel?" Ethan raised an eyebrow.
"Alright, I'll keep your secret," Angela hesitated, then said to Ethan.
"I told you, it's your call. Spill everything if you want." Ethan chuckled, not bothered.
"Do you really think I'm that cold?" Angela looked annoyed.
Ethan said seriously, "Nah, sometimes you're pretty cute."
A few hours later, Ethan and Angela were back in Novaria. Angela hopped on a plane back to Everglow City, while Ethan headed straight home.
On the way, Ethan called Elmer, telling him to come to Novaria ASAP.
"What's the rush?" Elmer asked, surprised by Ethan's urgent tone.
"I've got Herman. Wanna see him?" As soon as Ethan said that, Elmer hung up. Clearly, Herman was a big deal to him.
When Ethan got back to the villa, Jessie was waiting in the living room. She hadn't left since Ethan went to nab Herman, waiting for any news.
"Did you get him?" Jessie stood up as soon as she saw Ethan.
"Yeah, he's in the Tiger Mount secret realm. Elmer's on his way. We'll go in together when he gets here." Ethan nodded.
"After all these years, we finally got him." Jessie sighed in relief.
"You know we might get some answers from him," Ethan reminded her, frowning.
"Like you, I just want the truth now. We need to find out everything related to him." Jessie was quiet for a moment before speaking.
Ethan nodded and went back to his room to keep practicing the Methods of Soul Cultivation. That afternoon, Elmer showed up, making Ethan stop his practice.
"You finally got Herman. Are we heading to Tiger Mount now?" Elmer asked as soon as he saw Ethan.
"We were waiting for you." Ethan chuckled and opened the space portal, taking Elmer and Jessie with him.
They arrived at Tiger Mount and headed straight to Francis's Breeze Pavilion.
"You guys got here fast. He's inside. Follow me." Francis stood up with a smile and led them to a room.
