Chapter 496 Zephyr's Choice

In Brady's yard, five elders of the Council of Elders gathered, all eyes fixed on the direction of the Shadow Gang.

"I seem to have no reason to be undefeated. After all, I underestimated Ethan!" At this moment, Brady's expression was complex. If the appearance of Phoenix hadn't shaken his confidence, then the return of the six elders of the Wilson family, including Jasper, gave him a deep sense of powerlessness.

These six people seemed to have long been disconnected from the Wilson family, yet they remained part of it. Their descendants continued to thrive in the many branches of the Wilson family. Nobody dared to ignore them.

"What is Ethan trying to do?" Herman asked in astonishment.

"Not sure, and there's no need to be sure. Such a big act is definitely not aimed at me. I don't think I have that qualification." Brady shook his head with a bitter smile.

The return of the six elders of the Wilson family obviously also unsettled the elders of the Council of Elders. However, among them, Brady was the calmest despite his shock.

"So what should we do next? Ethan now controls all the branch families, and the Shadow Gang is on his side. Just the five of us..." Herman asked Brady with a troubled expression.

"Yes, just the five of us can't stir up much trouble! But do you know why Ethan hasn't made a direct move? He clearly had the chance to start a fight just now," Brady retorted noncommittally.

The other four elders looked at each other, their eyes full of confusion.

"Forget it. You don't need to know. Whatever Ethan wants to do, let him do it," Brady sighed helplessly at their reactions, seemingly giving up.

"So we just do nothing?" Herman asked unwillingly.

"What can we do? Who would listen to you? Ethan's next move is obviously to abolish the Council of Elders. Not only us five old guys, but the Council of Elders itself will probably disappear." Brady shook his head with a bitter smile.

"That's impossible. The Council of Elders system is a rule left from the past. Does Ethan not care about the rules?" Herman asked in shock.

"You shouldn't be asking me this question; you should ask Ethan." Brady shook his head helplessly.

Brady's yard fell silent again.

Meanwhile, Ethan was still waiting for Zephyr's response in the square.

"Does such a simple question take so long to think about? Do you even know why I chose between you and Ethan back then?" Elmer urged Zephyr impatiently.

"Did you already predict that I wouldn't stay at the Wilson Villa for long?" Ethan gave Elmer a disdainful look.

"I'm just telling the truth. Back then, I said I would help you deal with Zephyr and Dashiell, but you stopped me. Otherwise, things would have gone much smoother," Elmer snorted discontentedly.

Hearing this, not only Zephyr but even Dashiell broke out in a cold sweat. What shocked them more was that it was Ethan's mercy that allowed them to live to this day.

"Don't give me that look. Have you all forgotten the purpose of the Shadow Gang? Do you only see us as an assassination organization or thugs?" Elmer snorted coldly, noticing Dashiell's gaze.

The purpose of the Shadow Gang was to serve the head of the family, better manage the entire family, and eliminate all unstable factors.

From the beginning, Elmer never really intended to kill Ethan. Even the people sent to hunt Ethan before were Brady's spies.

Looking back now, Elmer must have known that Ethan could handle it. It was not easy to kill Ethan.

Ethan was Matthew's son, and he indeed had the capability. The revival of the Cloud Group was a testament to that. This was why Elmer had always been choosing between them. Elmer was considering the issue of the Wilson family heir, unlike Brady, who couldn't be seen through.

Even now, Brady remained a mystery. This mystery was not only in Zephyr's mind but in everyone's, including Ethan's.

"I'll stay in the Wilson family!" Zephyr stared at Ethan for a long time before finally giving his answer.

"A wise choice." Ethan grinned. He genuinely didn't care about the position of the head of the family. Or rather, it was merely a struggle between him and Brady. He had more important things to pursue.

If one day he left the Wilson family, he didn't want his former family to fall apart. In his view, if Zephyr could focus on uniting and strengthening the Wilson family, he would be the right one.

Zephyr's current choice also gave Ethan hope for the future of the Wilson family.

"Logan is probably scared out of his wits. Go have a good talk with him," Ethan reminded him, changing the subject.

"Okay!" Zephyr nodded and disappeared into the crowd.

"Everyone, since you're here, settle down in the Wilson Villa for now. There's a banquet tonight, and I'll see you off tomorrow." Ethan turned to the guests with a smile.

"Even if you didn't say so, we wouldn't leave. We plan to stay a night at the Wilson Villa." Clarence laughed heartily.

"I have some matters to attend to. I'll catch up with you all later." With that, Ethan turned to Jessie and said, "Mom, you stay with the guests. I'm going to the Shadow Gang."

"Alright." Jessie nodded in agreement, but she was not at ease. Her intuition told her that the sudden appearance of Phoenix and others signaled that something big was about to happen.

After settling everyone, Ethan took Elmer and Trevor to the Shadow Gang's council hall.

Seeing Ethan arrive, Beverly stepped out. She knew that some things were not meant for someone of her status to hear.

"I'll wait for you outside too," Trevor said to Ethan and left with Beverly.

"A guy who ditches his friends for a girl," Ethan muttered, watching Trevor's retreating figure.

Trevor stumbled and almost fell.

"Should I go out too?" Elmer asked, glancing at Phoenix and the others.

"No rush. Your injuries aren't healed yet," Ethan said, as the silver needles in his hand gleamed and quickly pierced Elmer's acupoints.

Elmer didn't resist or dodge. He knew Ethan was treating his injuries. More importantly, Howard indeed had some skills. Elmer seemed relaxed after the fight, but he was actually quite injured.

A few minutes later, Ethan removed all the needles from Elmer and said calmly, "You're good now."

Elmer felt his injuries completely healed, returning to his peak state, and gained a new appreciation for Ethan's medical skills. Sometimes, experiencing something firsthand was more impactful than hearing about it from others.

Elmer didn't stand on ceremony with Ethan and turned to Phoenix and the others, saying he would leave first.

"No need. Since we're on the Shadow Gang's turf, you might as well stay," Phoenix said with a smile.

"Thank you." Elmer thanked him and found a seat.

Ethan said, "Phoenix, just get to the point. I'm also curious why Celestia Vale made such a big move to find me this time, and besides you, the rest are all elders of the Wilson family."
