Chapter 306 Inadvertently Blurted Out

Jesse watched Ronald and Larry vanish into the distance, then turned to find Ethan staring at him.

"Ethan, why are you staring at me?" Jesse asked, clearly confused.

"Why did you stop them? Aren't you coveting what I have?" Ethan's curiosity was evident.

Jesse was taken aback but then seemed to understand and shook his head.

"What do you mean?" Ethan asked, puzzled.

"Ethan, I wasn't helping you. I just didn't want that thing to fall into Ronald and Larry's hands. They can't be trusted. My master warned us about them. If you see them again, you should get out of there!" Jesse explained earnestly.

By "get out of there," he clearly meant "run if you can't beat them!"

"So, you're still planning to take what I have?" Ethan, ignoring Jesse's explanation, felt frustrated, thinking Jesse hadn't given up.

"You're wrong. I'm not trying to take it; I want to bring it back to Celestia Vale so my master can keep it safe," Jesse corrected him seriously.

"That night at Misty Ridge when you ambushed me, you were clearly trying to take it. Are you still denying it?" Ethan almost laughed. Jesse was lying through his teeth but looked so innocent, like he was the one being wronged.

"Ethan, believe what you want. I know it's pointless to explain. As I said, I'll follow you until you willingly hand over the beads!" Jesse, finding no excuse to argue, changed the subject, speaking with self-righteousness.

"Compared to Phoenix, you're way behind. No wonder he's a master-level elder, and you're just a Half-Step Grandmaster's disciple!" Ethan rolled his eyes, thinking it seemed impossible to shake Jesse off.

"You're wrong again. Phoenix isn't a master-level elder but one of the eight deacon elders of Celestia Vale. There can be countless master-level elders, but deacon elders are chosen for their virtue. Naturally, I can't compare to Phoenix," Jesse corrected Ethan, inadvertently revealing some information about Celestia Vale.

"So, you have eight deacon elders like Phoenix in Celestia Vale. Are they all particularly powerful, and does everyone have to listen to them?" Ethan was curious.

"Yes, originally, there were eight. Twenty years ago, one elder left Celestia Vale, so now there are only seven, and no one has yet qualified to fill the vacancy. Deacon elders are..." Jesse began to speak instinctively but suddenly realized he might have said too much and abruptly stopped.

"What are they? Go on, tell me!" Ethan, not expecting Jesse to stop at the crucial moment, urged him with exasperation.

"Sorry, Ethan. I can't say more. In time, you'll understand." Jesse shook his head, looking like a wary child, his eyes filled with innocence and caution.

Ethan didn't expect Jesse to act so innocent and endearing, leaving him speechless. "You know, you'll have a hard time making friends. Either spill everything or keep quiet. What's the point of saying half?"

"If I say more, I'll get punished when I go back. I can't say any more!" Jesse shook his head even more vigorously.

"Fine, say what you want. This is pointless!" Ethan pouted, turned around, and went into the villa, slamming the door behind him.

Jesse stood there, staring blankly at the closed door, his eyes filled with confusion. He seemed to be pondering something, and after a long while, he muttered, "Friends?"

Back in his room, Ethan waited for a moment. When he went to the window to look into the yard, he found that Jesse had already disappeared.

"Phoenix is actually one of the eight deacon elders of Celestia Vale. The one who left twenty years ago, could it be Francis?" Ethan muttered to himself, still mulling over the information he had just learned from Jesse.

In the capital, at the Ashford family villa, Dorian was sitting on the sofa, looking rather displeased.

"Dorian, Caspar and Kenny have already boarded the plane. Could something have happened with the Salvador family for them to return so suddenly?" Ignatius stood opposite Dorian, reporting the latest news.

"They're back." Dorian was initially surprised but quickly regained his composure. "Let them come back. Ethan has already returned to Novaria. Keep an eye on Kenny for me. Don't let him leave the capital or wander around."

"No problem. You called me over urgently; is there something you need to tell me?" Ignatius agreed and then asked curiously.

"The lab has run out of stones. Jessie seems to have made some progress, and even Roy says her research is correct, but they haven't found the right stones yet," Dorian explained, looking frustrated.

"That's good news, so why do you look so down?" Ignatius asked, even more puzzled.

"The problem is that we've run out of rare minerals. Where am I supposed to find more stones for Jessie? The last batch was handled so carefully to avoid attracting attention, yet it still caught the eye of the Miller family and the Harris family." Dorian sighed helplessly.

"So, why did you call me here?" Ignatius asked, sensing something.

"I want you to go to Emerald Vein. Jessie suddenly needs a batch of raw stones and not just any kind. There's a high-quality batch of raw stones for sale at Emerald Vein. You need to go there and get them for me, no matter what it takes," Dorian instructed seriously.

"Go to Emerald Vein? Do I really need to go personally?" Ignatius was a bit surprised. Usually, such tasks didn't require his involvement.

"I don't trust anyone else. Don't forget there is still someone watching us! Also, be cautious of the Wilson family," Dorian reminded him, still frustrated.

"I understand. I'll go prepare right away," Ignatius said, leaving immediately.
