Chapter 369 Zephyr Was Angry
Since leaving the Miller estate, Brady had been so down that Dashiell and Zephyr, trailing behind, didn't dare say a word.
"Dashiell, get all the branch leaders to arrange everything and return to the Wilson estate within seven days!" Brady ordered once they got in the car.
"Brady, what's going on? Another family meeting?" Dashiell was shocked.
Family meetings were held every January, and this year's had already happened. Dashiell was puzzled.
"Brady, isn't this overkill? Just announcing Ethan as the heir doesn't need everyone to come back," Zephyr said, frowning.
"The heir inauguration ceremony is in half a month. Everyone must attend, no exceptions!" Brady's words were even more surprising.
"What? Who's becoming the head?" Dashiell and Zephyr asked in unison.
"I've agreed with Jessie. In half a month, Ethan will take over as the head of the family. Spread the word when we get back. Dashiell, stay in Everglow City. Everyone else, come back with me!" Brady's tone was firm.
"Ethan? Are you serious?" Zephyr's heart sank, feeling a mix of shock, anger, and jealousy.
"Absolutely. I know what you're thinking, but you're not as capable as Ethan, especially with his current status," Brady said coldly.
If he had a choice, Brady would oppose Ethan becoming the head. It meant his plans to replace the direct line had failed. But he had to agree to Jessie's request, or Ethan wouldn't spare the Wilson family or him.
Brady's words hit Zephyr hard. Unlike Logan, Zephyr always thought he was the best fit to inherit the family. He excelled in both combat and strategy, far more than Logan and even the previous Ethan.
But in the past six months, Ethan had surpassed him. This gap was hard to accept.
"Jessie's move to have Ethan inherit now is to guard against the elders' council's power," Dashiell nodded. In reality, Jessie was guarding against Brady.
"If you don't want to stay in the Wilson family, go back to Celestia Vale. As an outer disciple, if you become an inner disciple in two years, you might not be much worse than Ethan," Dashiell said, patting Zephyr's shoulder.
Zephyr slumped back in his seat. It felt like consolation. Even the elders of Celestia Vale valued Ethan highly now. What difference would it make if he joined?
But if he stayed in the Wilson family, could he really accept Ethan as the head?
"You'll have to wait until after the heir inauguration ceremony to return to Celestia Vale. I've already informed your master," Brady said suddenly.
Zephyr looked at Brady, full of questions. Was Brady trying to embarrass him, or had he really given up and decided to hand the family over to Ethan?
"Brady, do you have a backup plan?" Dashiell asked, feeling uneasy.
"Ethan's just a kid in his twenties. Even if I agree to him becoming the head, do you think everyone else will?" Brady sneered.
Dashiell and Zephyr exchanged glances, realizing Brady wasn't giving up so easily.
Back at the hotel, after Brady went inside, Dashiell and Zephyr drove off again.
"I need to go back to the company and tell my people to be cautious. Avoid conflicts with the Miller and Harris families, and quickly end our cooperation with the Ashford family to minimize losses," Dashiell said, worried about business.
The Wilsons and Ashfords were allies, essentially enemies of Ethan. But now, with Ethan about to become the head, could they still afford to oppose him? At least not openly.
"You're afraid Ethan will come after you. Why not go to him now, ask for guidance, and show loyalty?" Zephyr mocked.
"Come on! I thought if we could stabilize Brady, we'd be fine. Gradually take control of the family's economic power, and with Elmer's support, the head position would be yours! What happened?" Dashiell snorted.
"Don't mention Elmer. He's not trustworthy! Ever since Ethan opened the Tiger Mount secret realm, he's been avoiding me, clearly siding with Ethan!" Zephyr gritted his teeth.
"So, we have no hope at all?" Dashiell's face turned grim.
"Not necessarily! Ethan wants to secure his position, but it depends on his abilities. The ceremony is still half a month away. That's plenty of time for us to do many things!" Zephyr sneered.
"What are you planning?" Dashiell asked, curious about Zephyr's sneer.
"What do you think Logan's reaction will be if he finds out Brady gave the head position to Ethan?" A hint of madness flashed in Zephyr's eyes.
Dashiell stared at Zephyr in surprise, feeling a chill. Sibling rivalries for power were common, but working with someone so ruthless, what would his fate be?
While Zephyr and Dashiell plotted to use Logan against Ethan, Ethan had already left the Miller estate and arrived at Midnight Oasis.
Seeing the car in the parking lot, Ethan knew Dorian had arrived.
"He's here!" Dorian, in Gino's office upstairs, looked out the window and made eye contact with Ethan. Both smiled, but Dorian's smile had a hint of bitterness.
