Chapter 623 Hills Guild
At first, Deborah didn't think much of it, figuring tagging along with Patricia would ultimately help Ethan out. After all, no matter how strong Ethan was, he was still just at the early master level, same as her.
But now she realized how narrow-minded she had been, like living under a rock—how foolish and laughable. She had no business joining a grand master-level showdown.
Patricia was also feeling conflicted. She never thought that insisting on coming to Vast Mountain with Ethan would not only be unhelpful but might even make her a burden. If it weren't for them, Ethan wouldn't have left a grandmaster-level follower specifically to protect them.
In reality, they were overthinking it. Ethan left Kenneth behind because the situation up there was beyond Kenneth's ability to handle. Things had spiraled way beyond his original plan, and now he could only rely on himself to get Moonhowl.
"Dirk, if you don't want to die, you'd better behave and do nothing, or don't blame me for being ruthless!" Hugo warned the severely injured Dirk with a sinister look, then turned his gaze back to Moonhowl on the giant rock at the mountain peak.
"Cross Christianity is too arrogant. Do you think hidden sects have no skilled individuals?" At this moment, a furious shout suddenly echoed in the night sky, and before Hugo could understand what was happening, he was struck by a sudden force and sent flying. After stabilizing himself in mid-air, Hugo looked in horror in the direction from which the force had come.
A black shadow slowly appeared in the night sky. Though it was hard to see clearly, it was undeniably there, making Hugo's heart skip a beat and causing the previously distressed Dirk to become ecstatic!
"Kirk, you finally showed up!" Dirk quickly bowed to the shadow in mid-air.
"Such a simple task, and you made a mess of it. How do you think I should deal with you?" Kirk was clearly angry, his tone carrying a hint of displeasure as he snorted at Dirk.
"I am guilty. Please give me a chance to redeem myself!" Dirk quickly lowered his head and pleaded.
"Are you the leader of the Hills Guild, Kirk?" Hugo's face changed upon hearing Dirk's address, immediately guessing Kirk's identity. Apparently, even a super hidden sect had few secrets in front of Cross Christianity.
"You actually recognize me!" Kirk's voice carried a hint of surprise, followed by a chuckle. "I heard you were fighting fiercely with Celestia Vale on the southwestern border, yet you managed to sneak into Vexa. It seems Celestia Vale is not what it used to be!"
"Kirk, you and Cross Christianity have some history. Are you really going to break ties over Moonhowl?" Hugo's face turned grim as he reminded.
"Who do you think you are? Even if Salvatore himself came, he wouldn't dare speak to me like this. You're only here because of his power. Don't forget whose territory this is!" Kirk snorted coldly, clearly not intending to show him any respect.
"Kirk, I didn't know the ML Guild was backed by you, or this misunderstanding would never have happened!" Hugo explained with a very grim face.
"Even if Salvatore himself came, he wouldn't dare say an extra word in front of me!" Kirk sneered, totally dismissive.
Uncertainty crossed Hugo's face. Kirk's sudden appearance had thrown him off, clearly messing up his original plan. Even with the power of the token, he was no match for Kirk. He wondered if he really had to leave in such a dejected manner, accomplishing nothing.
"Kirk, long time no see!" At that moment, the cross in Hugo's hand suddenly flashed silver, and a sharp male voice came from it.
"Salvatore, you didn't dare come yourself, but sent a small fry to compete with me for Moonhowl. Are you sending him to his death?" Kirk snorted dismissively upon hearing the voice.
"You're joking. I didn't know about the relationship between the ML Guild and you, so this misunderstanding occurred. Rest assured, I have no intention of competing with you for Moonhowl!" The voice from the cross immediately responded with a laugh.
"Are you really willing to let your man leave empty-handed and watch me get Moonhowl?" Kirk sneered.
"If it were someone else, I might compete, but since you've set your sights on Moonhowl, I know my limits!" Salvatore said in a friendly manner.
"Smart move." Kirk snorted and turned his gaze to Moonhowl Orla.
At this moment, Orla felt a powerful aura locking onto it, causing its entire body to tense up, ready to explode at any moment.
They seemed to be staring at each other, but strangely, Kirk appeared like a stone statue, with even his facial expressions and eyes in a blurred state.
"Still not leaving? Waiting for me to send you off?" Hugo was hesitating whether to turn and leave when Kirk's voice rang out again.
"Kirk, I take my leave now!" Hugo reluctantly glanced at Orla on the giant rock and chose to avoid the confrontation. Clearly, Kirk's unfathomable strength made him wary, and even Salvatore, who supported him, had no method.
"Don't let anyone disturb me, and find out where Ethan Wilson is!" Kirk instructed the hesitant Dirk.
"I understand. I will redeem myself by finding Ethan for you!" Dirk breathed a sigh of relief and quickly flew down the mountain.
"Moonhowl, it's just the two of us now. You'd better cooperate and come with me quickly!" After Dirk left, Kirk raised his hand and pointed at Orla on the giant rock.
"If I were at my peak, I could crush you with one slap!" Unexpectedly, Orla snorted coldly, her voice sounding like a young girl's.
"You don't want to come with me?" Kirk wasn't angry, his tone very calm, as if Orla's attitude didn't matter to him.
"Are your ears not working, even though you're at the peak of the Foundation Establishment Stage?" Orla sneered.
"In that case, don't blame me for using force! I know how glorious and powerful you once were, but now you have no choice. You made a wrong decision and must pay the price!" Kirk sighed helplessly, then a black thread suddenly condensed at his fingertip, seemingly endless, shooting straight at Orla!
"Do you really think I can't kill you just because I'm not fully recovered?" Orla roared angrily, her body rapidly growing under the full moon.
