Chapter 302 Left Camila to Her Godparents
From the moment Ethan set foot in Novaria, he had a pretty good grasp of the relationship between Robert and the Wilson family. The governor always had a solid rapport with them. So, logically, he should know about the current tension between Ethan and the Wilsons. But why would he invite Ethan to his birthday party?
"Wasn't he always cool with you? Why do you look so surprised?" Chloe asked, noticing Ethan's thoughtful expression.
"Back then, he only befriended me because of my status. Plus, with Robert being tight with the Wilsons, even if he doesn't side with them against me, it's unlikely he'd go out of his way to befriend me and risk offending them," Ethan said, analyzing the situation.
"Maybe the governor has some hidden agenda for inviting you," Sarah speculated, looking suspicious.
"I shouldn't have agreed so quickly," Chloe said, regretting her earlier decision.
Ethan chuckled. "I just find it odd; I never said we couldn't go! Since Robert sent an invite, it would be rude not to attend. We'll still have to deal with him in Novaria, so we should go."
"But what if he has bad intentions?" Sarah asked, worried.
"Don't worry. If he has any ulterior motives, they'll come to light sooner or later. It's better to clear things up now than to be constantly on edge," Ethan replied confidently with a smile.
At this point, Ethan wasn't too concerned about Robert. Even if Robert sided with the Wilsons, Ethan wouldn't be afraid.
"Then we'll go with you the day after tomorrow. We also promised Clark we'd attend with you," Chloe said, holding onto Ethan's arm.
"Do I have a choice?" Ethan asked, looking helplessly at Chloe and Sarah.
"How dare you! He invited us too. Why shouldn't we go?" Sarah retorted, glaring at him.
"Alright, let's go together then," Ethan agreed with a laugh and a nod.
After agreeing to attend the party together, Chloe and Sarah were finally satisfied. Sarah noticed Chloe had more to discuss with Ethan, so she went back to her room.
"I heard from Cherry that you've sorted things out with Andrew. What are your plans for them?" Chloe suddenly asked.
By "them," Chloe meant Gabriella and Sharon.
"Sharon and I are done. Their situation isn't my concern anymore, nor do I need to make any arrangements for them," Ethan sighed.
"After all, you were married. Can't you part on good terms and clear up the misunderstandings?" Chloe asked, frowning slightly.
"The issues between Sharon and me can't be resolved easily. Gabriella and Sharon have already left, and it's best to leave it at that," Ethan said, shaking his head.
Just then, the doorbell of the villa rang.
Knowing Ethan and Chloe were deep in conversation, Sarah went downstairs alone to answer the door.
A few minutes later, Sarah brought an unexpected visitor, Hannah, to Ethan's room and knocked on the door.
"Hannah, what's up?" Chloe asked curiously.
"Well, I wanted to discuss something. Tomorrow, Beckett and I are heading to Emerald Vein to buy a batch of raw stones. We've been eyeing this batch for a while, and it's worth millions," Hannah explained, glancing at Ethan.
"You're worried about who will take care of Camila while you're gone, right?" Chloe immediately caught on.
"Exactly. I was hoping you could look after Camila for a few days. My mom is still in the countryside and can't come over, and it's not convenient to take Camila to Emerald Vein. If it's not convenient for you, I'll have to ask my mom to come," Hannah said, nodding.
"Hannah, we're Camila's godparents. Of course, we'll take care of her. You can go to Emerald Vein without any worries," Chloe agreed before Ethan could say anything.
"Thank you so much. I'll go back and pack. We're leaving early tomorrow morning. Camila usually goes to kindergarten, so she needs to be picked up, dropped off, and put to bed at night," Hannah said.
"Alright, you go ahead and get ready. We'll pick up Camila after work tomorrow. Don't worry," Chloe reassured her.
After Hannah left, Chloe and Sarah returned to their rooms. Ethan felt a bit helpless, knowing Camila would be staying with them for the next few days. With Camila around, it would be hard to have any private moments with Chloe or Sarah, as Camila would cling to him every night.
Meanwhile, at the Wilson family estate, Brady and others were sitting at the conference table, waiting for the last attendee, Zephyr.
Seated nearby were some younger members of the Wilson family, as well as a few top-ranked assassins from the Shadow Gang.
"Sorry to keep you all waiting!" Zephyr, who had just returned to the Wilson family, hurried into the conference room and apologized to Brady and the others.
"Good to have you back. Sit down quickly. Since everyone is here, let's finalize the list of Wilson family members participating in the Selection Meeting," Brady instructed with a nod.
"According to the rules of the Selection Meeting, before it begins, each family must select one to three candidates. Ultimately, only one will be chosen by the visiting elders and taken as a registered disciple. They will then follow the elder to Celestia Vale for two years of training. After passing the Celestia Vale assessment, they can become formal disciples of the elders and will surely enter Celestia Vale in the future," one of the elders explained after Zephyr took his seat.
"The Wilson family, Wilson family branches, and the Shadow Gang will each nominate one person. Whether you get chosen by the Celestia Vale elders depends not only on your strength but also on your potential," Brady added, glancing at Zephyr and the other younger members.
