Chapter 479 Beverly's Shyness

At this moment, Beverly surveyed the surroundings. Besides Hannah and Camila, there was no one else nearby.

Noticing Beverly seemed to be searching for something, Ethan couldn't help but ask curiously, "What are you looking for?"

"Didn't Trevor come with you?" Beverly hesitated for a long time before finally asking.

Widening his eyes in surprise, Ethan stared at Beverly for a few seconds, then smiled and asked, "You came here looking for him right away. Could it be that you have a crush on him?"

"Oh, come on. I just know he came back with you and was curious why I didn't see him," Beverly blushed as she defended herself.

"Don't be shy. If you like him, just admit it. Do you want me to set you two up?" Seeing Beverly's shy expression, Ethan became even more convinced of his suspicion and teased her.

"Stop, or I'll beat you up." Beverly got anxious and threatened him with her fists.

"You can't beat me," Ethan reminded her nonchalantly.

"Then I won't talk to you anymore." Beverly was both embarrassed and anxious. However, she couldn't do anything to Ethan, leaving her to feel the urge to run away.

"He has an errand to run to and isn't here right now. But he should be back today. Don't worry. You'll see him soon. Just wait patiently," Ethan suddenly changed his tone and explained seriously.

"I don't care where he is." Beverly huffed, clearly not meaning what she said.

"Yeah, you just asked," Ethan teased her again.

"Let's not talk about him. I see a lot of people from the branch families have arrived. Some of them might come looking for you. How do you plan to deal with them?" Beverly changed the subject, afraid she might be more embarrassed if the conversation continued.

"Let them come. Do I have to deal with them? We both know what they're thinking. They're just a bunch of bullies," Ethan sneered indifferently.

"Even so, there are many of them, and all is the backbone of the Wilson family. You can't just get rid of all of them and replace them. The Wilson family can't function without them," Beverly reminded Ethan, feeling troubled.

Ethan snorted. Even if they all died today, he had the ability to keep the Wilson family running.

"I know, with your abilities and methods, you could replace them all in a short time and keep the losses under control. But have you thought about it? Without them, would the Wilson family still be the same?" Beverly was helpless. She feared Ethan would take this matter seriously. Once some things were done, there was no room for regret or turning back.

"Alright, why are you worrying like my mom? Don't worry. I won't make trouble for myself. As long as they behave, why would I make things difficult for them?" Ethan explained.

"At least show your attitude and give them a way out. You're taking away their benefits this time. Anyone would feel uncomfortable. You can't offend everyone, or how will you continue as the head of the Wilson family?" Beverly advised earnestly.

"Alright. Tell them I'll be waiting for them in the hall this afternoon. If they want to come, they should all come together. I don't have time to deal with them one by one," Ethan reluctantly agreed.

He knew he couldn't avoid this. He really didn't want to waste words with the branch families, but some things had to be said.

Last night, Jessie had also reminded him. The people Brady sent yesterday could be dismissed, but driving away today's branch families would cause big problems.

"Alright, I'll have them all wait for you in the hall this afternoon." Beverly sighed in relief. She feared Ethan would shut himself away before the headship ceremony. Gaining more support from the branch families at this critical time was the best outcome for Ethan.

"You all worry too much." Ethan smiled bitterly and then walked towards Hannah and Camila.

Beverly said nothing more and left after seeing Ethan playing with Camila.

"Do you have important business to attend to? Should we go back?" Hannah asked softly, feeling uneasy as she watched Beverly leave.

"It's nothing. If there is, it will be in the afternoon. I have time this morning. It's rare to have time to play with Camila all morning." Ethan laughed.

It wasn't until noon that Ethan took Hannah and Camila back. However, as soon as they entered the courtyard, he raised an eyebrow as he sensed a few unfamiliar presences in Jessie's room.

"Someone's here?" Ethan asked Chloe and the others who were chatting in the courtyard.

"It seems to be people from the Wilson family branch. They went into the room with Jessie and we don't know what they're talking about," Chloe shook her head and explained.

Ethan patted his forehead. He had forgotten about Jessie. Back in the day, Jessie was Matthew's good assistant, and many branch family leaders had good relationships with them. With Jessie back, those who knew would definitely come looking. He hadn't thought of this.

"I'll go take a look. You get ready; it's almost time to eat," Ethan said to Chloe and the others, then turned and walked towards Jessie's room.

"Mom, can I come in?" Ethan knocked on the door and asked.

"The door's not locked, come in." Jessie's voice came from inside.

Ethan pushed the door open and saw Jessie sitting at the table. Across from her were three middle-aged men and a few younger people standing nearby.

Besides Jessie, the others stood up to greet Ethan as soon as they saw him.

"No need to be so formal. If you're in my mom's room, it means you're one of us." Ethan smiled and nodded, but his heart sank a little.

There were only three people. Compared to the dozens of branch families spread across the country, three were negligible. He only had Beverly as absolutely loyal. Even with the three people, that made four. So, the majority must be waiting to meet him in the hall this afternoon.
