Chapter 520 The Origin of Cross Christianity
So, just like outside, it was nighttime in the secret realm too. Day and night synced up with the real world.
Even in the dark, Ethan could see around him thanks to the lamps lighting up the stone steps up the mountain.
Celestia Vale and Tiger Mount had totally different vibes. If Tiger Mount was all about scenic beauty, Celestia Vale was grand and imposing, giving off a serious, solemn feel.
"Ethan, come chill with me in my courtyard," Raymond said, popping up out of nowhere with a big grin.
Before Ethan could even say anything, Raymond scooped him up. Next thing he knew, they were in a small courtyard.
Honestly, this place seemed kinda basic for someone like Raymond. It was just a small wooden house in a fenced area, surrounded by a big forest. Pretty elegant, though.
Ethan looked around but kept quiet, following Raymond into the wooden house. Seemed like Raymond lived alone.
"Ethan, take a seat." Raymond plopped down in a wooden chair, brewing tea with a smile.
Ethan sat down in the chair opposite him.
"Raymond, you said you had something to talk about. What's up?" Ethan asked straight up.
"No rush, have some tea first," Raymond said, putting a freshly brewed cup in front of Ethan, signaling him to drink.
Ethan frowned, picked up the plain-looking teacup, and saw two vibrant tea leaves inside. Suddenly, a strong aroma hit him, waking him up.
After downing the tea in one gulp, Ethan felt a warm current flow into his lower abdomen, gathering in his Sea of Qi. The strength he had just gained from advancing to the fifth level of the ZF knack became even more stable.
Thanks to this tea, Ethan hit the bottleneck of the Half-Step Grandmaster peak, just one step away from becoming a master.
"This tea is awesome. Thanks." Ethan was shocked and quickly thanked Raymond, not expecting a cup of tea to have such an effect.
"This tea is from a few trees on Whispering Peak and helps consolidate your energy. I sensed you were close to a breakthrough but not quite stable. This tea should help." Raymond nodded with a smile.
"I'm still curious, what did you want to talk about?" Ethan asked, while also communicating with Angel in his mind.
"I can feel it; my physical body is really here, deep in the northern mountain." Angel's excited voice rang out, making Ethan's heart sink. He had come in just to try his luck, but she had actually found her physical body.
"Are you sure?" Ethan was conflicted. If it were anywhere else, it would be easier to handle, but this was Celestia Vale, not his turf, especially under Raymond's watchful eye.
Forget about finding Angel's physical body; even the slightest unusual behavior would make Raymond suspicious.
"I'm sure, the connection between my body and me is unmistakable. But there's a restriction there, and with our current abilities, we can't get in," Angel said, sounding pretty frustrated.
"Don't sweat it. Now that we know where your body is, it's just a matter of time before we get it back. Even if we snagged it now, you wouldn't be able to jump back into it right away. Let's just think of it as being in storage for now, and I'll figure something out," Ethan tried to reassure her. Getting her body back now was a long shot, especially without Raymond's help, and even then, it might not be enough since Celestia Vale wasn't just his playground.
"Have you ever looked for Matthew?" Raymond finally cut to the chase, looking serious.
"Honestly, you probably know what went down with the Wilson family. After finding out my dad's death was fishy, I did think about finding him, but I got no clue where to start." Ethan sighed, though his mind was racing. 'Raymond's interested in Matthew; does he know something?'
"The Cross Christianity token you gave to Phoenix, have you ever wondered who it originally belonged to?" Raymond asked, dead serious.
"What are you getting at?" Ethan frowned. He had his suspicions, but hearing it from Raymond was a tough pill to swallow.
"We both know that the Cross Christianity token likely belonged to Matthew. Brady's already here at Celestia Vale, and I talked to him today. You don't need to doubt him anymore on this," Raymond said straight up.
Ethan's heart sank. If Brady was innocent, then Matthew was the only suspect left. He thought, 'If everything back then was a setup by Matthew and Herman, why fake his death? Could he really be working for Cross Christianity? This is the last thing I want to deal with.'
"How's Brady?" Ethan dodged the Matthew issue, clearly wanting to avoid it.
"Brady's staying at Celestia Vale and won't go back to the Wilson Villa. He might've messed up in the past, but being stuck here is his punishment, and it was his own choice," Raymond explained calmly.
"He sure picked a nice spot for his retirement." Ethan snorted, not hiding his disdain.
"Do you know the origin of Cross Christianity?" Raymond brought the topic back.
"I'm listening." Ethan nodded, keeping his face blank.
Since digging into Herman, Ethan had looked into Cross Christianity but only found surface-level stuff. The detailed origins were a mystery.
"You might not know much about Cross Christianity, but you should know something about Pantheon, right?" Raymond asked again.
"Pantheon's an alliance of practitioners. I've heard of it, but I'm not too familiar. What's it got to do with us?" Ethan raised an eyebrow.
"Celestia Vale and Pantheon once signed a non-aggression pact, agreeing that master-level practitioners from both sides wouldn't mess with each other without a good reason. This has let both sides grow peacefully. But Cross Christianity isn't part of this deal," Raymond explained.
"I've heard about that. What's your point?" Ethan asked, frowning.
"My point is, Cross Christianity was founded by defectors from both Pantheon and Celestia Vale, which is why it's seen as a demonic cult," Raymond said, dropping a bombshell.
