Chapter 377 A Special Task

Ethan couldn't act too bold in front of Norman and Remington. Ignoring Angela, he quickly greeted Norman.

"No need for formalities. Just remember what I asked you to do," Norman grumbled, unimpressed.

"I'm swamped right now, but I promise I'll help train the Nightfall Brigade as soon as I can," Ethan said, shaking his head with a wry smile.

"Forget the Nightfall Brigade for now. We'll deal with that later," Norman said, changing the subject.

"So, why am I here?" Ethan asked, frowning.

"Let me introduce you. This is Angela Lopez from the Intelligence Bureau, the youngest female general in our military. You two should get acquainted," Norman said, not mentioning any specific task.

"Angela, nice to meet you. I'm Ethan," he said, extending his hand.

"I know. I've read your file," Angela replied coldly, ignoring his hand.

Ethan thought, 'Seriously? Did I do something to offend her? She's gorgeous but has the personality of an iceberg!'

Norman and Remington, amused by Ethan's snub, exchanged glances.

Even Bennit had a rare look of schadenfreude.

Feeling awkward, Ethan withdrew his hand, thinking he was really embarrassed tonight.

"So, Angela, are you satisfied with the who I recommended?" Norman asked with a smile.

Ethan realized Norman highly valued Angela, given his polite tone.

"I can't say now. I can't judge his abilities from just a file and a first meeting," Angela said, shaking her head.

"The candidates we recommend are capable. You won't be disappointed. The key is your cooperation," Norman assured, vouching for Ethan.

"Norman, I'm confused. What's the plan?" Ethan asked, puzzled.

"We have a special task for you and Angela. It's more important than training the Nightfall Brigade, so take it seriously," Norman explained.

"What task is so important that you need me?" Ethan asked, surprised.

"It's not just you. Angela will lead, and you'll assist. Follow her instructions," Norman corrected sternly.

Ethan glanced at Angela, thinking she didn't seem easy to work with. She was beautiful, but taking orders from her felt awkward.

"Can I refuse?" Ethan asked, frowning.

"No!" Norman and Remington shouted in unison.

"You're really pushing me into this? At least tell me what the task is," Ethan asked, realizing he couldn't avoid it.

"We need you and Angela to go to Norway, undercover, for a special mission. You have to protect someone and bring him back. This person is under serious threat, and any harm to him would have major repercussions for our country," Norman finally revealed.

"Is it that serious? We don't have the best relationship with Norway, but we do cooperate. Why do we need to go undercover?" Ethan frowned, sensing the complexity of the task.

"Angela will give you the details and action plan. Just follow her lead," Norman said calmly.

"Don't you have friends in Norway? I heard you even have an investment company there. It should be easy to cover your identities," Remington chimed in, noticing Ethan's hesitation.

"I have to take over as the head of the Wilson family in half a month and need to go to Sunridge tomorrow. When does this mission start, and how long will it take?" Ethan asked, trying to get more details.

"We know you're busy. It won't take more than a week, and if things go smoothly, you might be back in two or three days. Discuss the departure time with Angela," Norman reassured him.

"Looks like I have to go. I'll handle my current tasks quickly. I do have contacts in Norway, so going undercover shouldn't be a problem," Ethan reluctantly agreed.

"Angela, these are the materials I prepared. Make sure to bring the person back safely," Bennit handed Angela a file, reminding her seriously.

"Understood. Even if I'm alone, I'll complete the mission," Angela said firmly, taking the file and saluting.

Ethan was speechless. Angela didn't seem to take him seriously at all. She was proud and arrogant, but given her young age and rank, she had every reason to be.

Ethan didn't mind. He was used to disdain and contempt, especially in Novaria. He had thick skin.

"Anyway, I leave this to you two. Ethan may not be official military, but he's practically one of us. Angela, take good care of him for me," Norman said after a moment of contemplation.

"Understood, sir," Angela nodded reluctantly.

"Alright, you two can go. Once this mission is completed, I'll personally commend you both," Norman said, smiling.

"Norman, I came here in your car. Should I wait for Remington and Bennit?" Ethan quickly asked.
