Chapter 597 Made a Trick

Ethan's sudden appearance made Davide Dixon jump, and when he heard Ethan's snarky comment, his face twisted with anger.

"Who are you?" Davide tried to keep his cool, but one could tell he was pissed.

"None of your business," Ethan shot back, full of disdain.

"You're asking for it!" Davide snapped. He couldn't hold back anymore and charged at Ethan, drawing his longsword. Davide was a mid-level master swordsman.

Ethan's eyes widened a bit. He knew he couldn't mess around. A mid-level master swordsman could pack a punch like a late-level master, maybe even more.

"Well, this just got interesting," Ethan muttered, feeling Davide's intense sword energy closing in on him. With a quick thought, he summoned the Grail. Thanks to the Grail's protection, Davide's fierce sword energy didn't even scratch Ethan.

"A defensive artifact? Who the heck are you?" Davide's face darkened, clearly more cautious now. Anyone with an artifact either had some serious connections or was part of a powerful sect. Not someone he wanted to mess with.

"You wanna know? Too bad, I'm not telling." Ethan laughed, clearly enjoying himself.

Davide was fuming but couldn't touch Ethan. His best sword energy was useless against the artifact's defense.

"At least tell me who you are in the ML Guild," Ethan asked, sounding genuinely curious.

"I'm Davide Dixon, the Second Elder of the ML Guild," Davide said coldly.

"The Second Elder, huh? Impressive. With your skills, you could go toe-to-toe with Seth. He's the Great Elder, right? The ML Guild must be pretty solid." Ethan nodded, looking thoughtful.

"Who are you? Do you know Seth?" Davide asked, suspicious.

"Guess if I'll tell you. There's a prize if you get it right." Ethan laughed and, taking advantage of Davide's rage, retracted the Grail and bolted.

"You think you can just run?" Davide didn't expect that and immediately chased after him with his sword.

Davide was so provoked by Ethan that he forgot all about the matters on Vast Mountain. All he wanted was to catch Ethan and vent his anger. But that was exactly what Ethan wanted—to buy time for Bonnie and the others to escape.

Ethan was getting more and more curious about Vast Mountain. From what Alessandro and Davide had said, it was clear they were after something big. Otherwise, they wouldn't be so desperate to keep people away.

Davide was fuming, chasing Ethan like a madman, only to find Ethan leading him through rough terrain, almost like he was toying with him.

After about ten minutes, Davide suddenly stopped, either worn out or finally catching on to Ethan's game, and decided to quit the chase.

"What's the matter? Can't keep up?" Ethan taunted, stopping as well.

"You think I'm that dumb? I'm not falling for your tricks!" Davide snapped, finally regaining his senses. Ignoring Ethan's jabs, he turned and led his men back towards Vast Mountain.

"Idiot, by the time you get back, everyone will be gone," Ethan shouted after them. But Davide didn't even look back.

Ethan scratched his nose and muttered, "Davide caught on quick. I hope Bonnie and the others are fast enough. If not, I might have to blow my cover to save them."

Meanwhile, Bonnie had managed to rescue Margare and a bunch of innocent folks. They were making a run for it, their survival instincts in full gear.

Once Margare was safely in her SUV, Bonnie finally let out a sigh of relief. She didn't waste any time and hit the gas. "You're incredible! How did you know where to find me?" Margare asked, her eyes wide with admiration and curiosity.

Margare seemed more excited than scared, not a hint of panic. She was only about eighteen, and her figure was even more striking than Bonnie's.

"Stop talking. We're not out of the woods yet. I'm not that amazing. We got lucky today. Don't you dare run off again!" Bonnie snapped, focusing on the road and glancing back at Vast Mountain to make sure no one was following.

"Bonnie, there's someone ahead!" Margare suddenly shouted, spotting a figure standing in the middle of the road. If Bonnie didn't swerve, they'd hit him. She screamed in alarm.

Bonnie's face went pale, and she instinctively slammed on the brakes. When the car stopped, she realized the person standing there was the one who had saved them on the mountain.

"Margare, get in the back." Bonnie was overjoyed and opened the passenger door, pushing Margare out.

Ethan turned around, and when their eyes met, Bonnie was stunned.
