Chapter 309 Honorary Titles

Ethan didn't think it was out of place and accepted with a clear conscience. He didn't even bother with polite refusals, just asked Camila to thank Robert.

"Mr. Wilson, can we talk inside? I've been wanting to visit you since I heard you were back in Novaria, but I didn't want to intrude. So, I figured this was a good chance to chat!" Robert said with a laugh, inviting Ethan in.

"You're too kind. If you spend time with me, won't you be neglecting the other guests?" Ethan asked with a forced smile, handing Camila over to Chloe.

"No worries. There's another friend at home who wants to meet you too. Will you come inside with me?" Robert gestured for Ethan to follow.

Ethan raised an eyebrow, surprised that Robert was being so deferential in front of everyone. He wasn't sure what Robert was up to, but he figured Robert was more likely a friend than a foe.

"Wait for me outside. I'll be back soon!" Ethan told Chloe and Sarah before following Robert into the large castle that was decorated with a mix of Central European styles.

As soon as Ethan left, the chatter grew louder. No one expected Robert to be so respectful to Ethan, and most people didn't understand why.

Chloe and Sarah quickly became the center of attention, and soon, someone recognized them and spread the word.

Poor Orlando, who had tried to flirt with Chloe and Sarah earlier, had just parked his car and entered the venue, missing the earlier scene. He only heard people talking about Ethan, Chloe, and Sarah and listened for a bit.

It didn't take long for Orlando to remember Chloe and Sarah, who had embarrassed him earlier, and Ethan, who was driving. Still holding a grudge, he started searching around the estate.

Luckily, Chloe and Sarah, not liking the crowd, had taken Camila to a small, empty garden on one side, where they were pushing Camila on a swing. For now, Orlando hadn't found them, which was fortunate for Chloe and Sarah!

Meanwhile, Ethan followed Robert to the grand hall on the second floor of the castle.

In the luxurious living room, apart from a person sitting on the central sofa, there was no one else in sight.

As soon as Ethan and Robert walked in, Billy immediately stood up from the sofa.

Ethan scrutinized Billy, who was standing up. Dressed in a suit, standing straight, even without a military uniform, you could tell he was a soldier or at least had an army background.

What puzzled Ethan was that he didn't seem to know this person. The friend Robert mentioned earlier who wanted to meet him must be Billy!

"Mr. Wilson, this is Major General Billy Hill, the newly assigned head of the garrison in Novaria. It was at Mr. Hill's request that I invited you over. I'll leave you two to chat while I go attend to the other guests!" Robert, noticing the confusion in Ethan's eyes, briefly introduced Billy and then left with a smile.

"Mr. Wilson, it's a pleasure to meet you!" Billy, not in uniform, stepped forward and extended his hand to Ethan.

"Did Bennit arrange for you to come?" Ethan asked, shaking hands with Billy. A garrison commander assigned by the military department had to be connected to the Nightfall Brigade.

"Yes. The military department officially appointed me as the garrison commander in Novaria. I'm also here to liaise with you about the Nightfall Brigade's training." Billy handed a document to Ethan.

"No need. Just tell me why you're here today," Ethan said, not taking the document.

"Mr. Wilson, you misunderstand. This isn't my document; it's yours," Billy explained with a smile.

"Mine?" Ethan looked at the booklet. It was different from other military IDs, with various colors and the words "military department."

Suspiciously, Ethan opened it. Inside was his photo and brief information.

In the position column, it said Chief Instructor of the Nightfall Brigade, and in the rank column, it said Honorary Major General.

Ethan showed a strange expression. "What does Honorary Major General mean?"

"Oh, it's an honorary title. You're not an official general, but you get the perks of a major general," Billy explained.

"Bennit is really good at these superficial things. Is he afraid I won't do a good job for him?" Ethan was at a loss for words.

"Mr. Wilson, you misunderstand. Bennit doesn't have that authority; this is from higher up!" Billy quickly clarified.

Ethan was taken aback, then suddenly understood.

"I was wondering why Bennit was trying to curry favor with me. It's already a blessing if Bennit doesn't squeeze me!" Ethan's words made Billy's smile freeze, looking awkward.

"It must be Norman's doing," Ethan said, making a cross gesture with his hand and motioning for Billy to sit down.

"Mr. Wilson, this document will be your pass to enter and exit the Nightfall Brigade's base. Also, here's a number; you can contact him for anything, making it convenient for you to issue training orders at any time." Billy handed a business card to Ethan.

Ethan didn't even glance at it; he just took it and put it in his pocket.

"So, the Nightfall Brigade is already in Novaria?" Ethan asked.

"That's right. I'll still call you Mr. Wilson outside the military. When do you plan to start your job?" Billy followed up.

"I'm a bit busy lately, having just returned to Novaria. The Nightfall Brigade has over two thousand people. Even if I start the training, it's impossible to train so many people at once. You should conduct an internal assessment first, select a company of soldiers, and notify me after the selection is complete." Ethan pondered for a moment and then shared his thoughts.

He couldn't immediately immerse himself in military affairs, so he had to delay as much as possible!
