Chapter 340 Being Just One Step Short of Success
Just as the dark energy was about to completely engulf Ethan, a sudden burst of golden light erupted around them.
Centered on Jesse, a golden protective shield suddenly enveloped both of them, completely blocking the dark energy outside the shield.
"Magic array?" Asura Bloodhand's voice emerged from the dark energy, tinged with surprise and a hint of fear.
"I've been waiting for you to walk right into my trap! This string of beads, a treasured possession my master has worn for decades, can enhance the power of the magic array by several levels. Today, I'll use it to deal with you!" Jesse said, then continued to activate the magic array.
Ethan saw the beads that Jesse had buried around them suddenly burst out of the ground. All 108 beads floated in mid-air, emitting a dazzling golden light.
"Damn it, I didn't expect Raymond Turner to give you his protective beads!" Asura Bloodhand clearly knew the origin of these 108 beads. Even though his face couldn't be seen, his tone revealed his current frustration and anger.
"There are many things you can't anticipate!" Jesse said, striking a palm towards Asura Bloodhand.
Immediately, the 108 beads began to spin rapidly, surrounding the mass of dark energy.
"Break it... I refuse to believe you can trap me!" Asura Bloodhand's furious voice rang out again, and the dark energy began to crash around frantically.
But each time, the beads completely blocked the dark energy's attacks, power of which then forcefully pushed it back.
At the same time, Ethan noticed that the golden light on the prayer beads dimmed slightly with each collision with the dark energy.
Ethan's heart stirred, and he turned to look at Jesse, whose face was also growing paler as the golden light on the beads dimmed.
"Ethan, don't just stand there. Although these beads contain spiritual energy, my power is limited, and I can't fully unleash the magic array's original power. I can only temporarily trap him!" Jesse gritted his teeth, his tone strained as he reminded Ethan.
"I'll go save them first!" Ethan said, intending to rush out and rescue the others.
He hadn't planned to confront Asura Bloodhand head-on; rescuing Sharon and Gabriella was the best outcome he could hope for!
"No, if you leave the magic array's range, you'll be immediately corrupted by the dark energy. You won't make it out!" Jesse's face changed, and he quickly warned Ethan.
"Then what do you suggest?" Ethan's face turned sullen.
"Deal with this demon first. Use your Sun and Moon Beads to absorb his dark energy!" Jesse reminded him.
Ethan's eyes lit up at the words. He had been so focused on rescuing the others that he had forgotten about this!
He had considered using the Sun and Moon Beads against Asura Bloodhand, but as Jesse had said before, this demon wasn't Andrew and wouldn't sit idly by while the dark energy was absorbed. He might be dead before he even started absorbing!
Ethan said to himself inwardly, 'Now that Jesse trapped this demon, isn't this the perfect opportunity?'
With that thought, Ethan didn't hesitate any longer and immediately activated the Sun and Moon Beads, which emerged from his body. Under his control, the two beads began to spin rapidly, and the boundless dark energy started to surge towards them.
"My dark energy!" Asura Bloodhand cursed loudly, clearly realizing that his dark energy was being devoured by the Sun and Moon Beads.
In an instant, the dark energy seemed to panic, desperately trying to escape.
However, the Sun and Moon Beads' absorption grew faster and faster, and the dark energy couldn't break free from the beads' powerful suction, being continuously devoured bit by bit!
"Why didn't you tell me you had a way to trap this demon when I asked you before?" Ethan asked Jesse, looking frustrated.
"If it weren't necessary, I wouldn't recklessly use my master's beads. You saw how quickly the spiritual energy on the beads is depleting. Once used, unless my master replenishes them, they're essentially single-use items!" Jesse explained, looking helpless.
"Stingy! It's just a string of beads, and you treat it like a treasure!" Ethan snorted dismissively.
"Ethan, hurry up. I can't hold on much longer. Even if this demon hasn't fully recovered to a grandmaster level, he's not far off. His power is far beyond what you and I can handle!" Jesse gritted his teeth, his tone serious as he reminded Ethan again.
Hearing this, Ethan didn't waste any more time and focused on accelerating the Sun and Moon Beads' absorption of the dark energy.
"Damn it, my dark energy. I painstakingly cultivated it! I'll make sure you all die horribly!" Angry roars came from outside the golden shield, clearly indicating that the massive loss of dark energy to the Sun and Moon Beads had driven Asura Bloodhand into a rage!
A few minutes later, Jesse finally couldn't hold on any longer and spat out a mouthful of blood.
Immediately, some of the 108 beads began to run out of spiritual energy, their golden light completely disappearing, and they fell to the ground like lifeless objects.
As more and more beads fell, the control over Asura Bloodhand weakened.
"You dare to think you can trap me! Unless Raymond himself comes, you're not qualified!" Asura Bloodhand laughed as he felt the pressure around him suddenly lessen.
"No, the magic array has failed!" Jesse, his face pale, shouted. The golden shield above him and Ethan also collapsed as if it had lost its support.
At the same time, Ethan and Jesse were hit by the sudden influx of dark energy, their bodies immediately being thrown back and crashing heavily to the ground.
"Have we ultimately failed?" Ethan's eyes widened in horror. He could only marvel at Asura Bloodhand's power. Despite absorbing dark energy for so long, he still had such formidable strength. How much dark energy did he have? Was it endless?
