The ones in the car behind Alice's convoy were Frank and Louis.
After being publicly humiliated by Ethan at the reception, Frank was furious. He believed that gaining Alice's cooperation was his strongest counterattack. In order to do that, he ignored the risks of offending Alice and directly followed her.
The convoy entered a luxurious villa community, and Frank's Mercedes parked outside a three-story luxury villa.
“So, it turns out this woman isn't staying at a hotel, Dad. No wonder we couldn't find her!”
Only now did Louis realized why they couldn’t find Alice earlier. These villas were probably rented, not even necessarily under Alice's name. If she wanted to hide, they wouldn't be able to find her.
“I told you to use your brain. If I were her, I wouldn't stay at a hotel, either. Do you know how many people are dying to see her right now?” Frank scolded his son irritably.
Trying to change the subject after being scolded, Louis asked, “So what do we do now? Do we just go in directly?”
Just then, a suited young man suddenly walked out from the villa. He knocked on the Mercedes’s window, surprising Frank and Louis as he said, “Sir, Miss Alice said since you're here, just come inside.”
A few minutes later, Frank and Louis saw Alice in the villa’s living room.
“Miss Alice, I apologize for the intrusion. Please don't be angry!” Frank quickly apologized, scared Alice would be angry.
Alice said while chuckling, “Being personally followed by a prominent figure in Seattle should be an honor, no? I think there's more to your elaborate efforts than just explaining things to me!”
Frank felt embarrassed, but at the same time, relieved. He quickly explained, “It's about the partnership. I hope Miss Alice can give me a chance.”
Alice raised an eyebrow and asked, “Are you seeking to collaborate on this tourism industry project?”
“Yes, I indeed want that. However, I know your company has already signed a contract with Shine Group. I won't do anything to make things difficult for you, Miss Alice.”
“Then why have you come to me?”
“I don't care about Shine Group; I only want a partnership with your company. The land needed for this tourism industry project should be under Miss Alice's responsibility, right?”
Only then did Frank state his true intentions, as he had his eyes on the land Alice possessed.
“Oh, so you want Sun Lake’s land? Why would I need to rely on others for something I can do myself?” Alice shook her head, not interested in agreeing.
Frank's heart sank as he tried persuading Alice to agree, “Miss Alice, your company's main business is RP Investments, while QU Group is a real estate enterprise. We can only maximize our interest by collaborating in our respective expertise.”
“What you’re saying might be true. However, do you only want this land just to collaborate with me? From what I know, QU Group doesn’t have a peaceful relationship with Shine Group. I prefer dealing with honest clients!”
Alice first nodded, then stared at Frank with a suggestive smile.
“Miss Alice, I believe there’s no permanent friends or enemies in this world, but only interest, no? I do want to use this land to counter Shine Group, and I think it’d balance for you. It won't harm your company!”
Frank tried his best to persuade Alice while testing her limits.
After a long silence along with his anxious waiting, Alice suddenly changed the topic, “You should know that once this project starts, Sun Lake’s land will skyrocket in value. I can give it you; however, it's up to you whether you have the courage for it!”
He was immediately excited. What he lacked now was courage. His anger toward Ethan and the Harris family made him nearly go all-out, and he believed that his current efforts would surely bring back double the benefits from Shine Group!
That evening, he consolidated all of the company's liquid assets and quickly borrowed $10 billion from the bank through his established relationships. He transferred a total of $15 billion into RP Investments' account.
The next day at noon, upon seeing the funds credited, Alice immediately called Ethan.
“The $15 billion has been transferred. I wonder if Frank will be furious if he finds out all this money has actually gone into your pocket?”
Ethan praised with a smile, “Well done. You didn't spend more than a few billion dollars getting those wastelands, right? You're becoming more impressive!”
She playfully reminded, “Don't say that. It’s all your plan! Shouldn't we let this gentleman experience some excitement next?”
Just then, someone angrily knocked on the door. Sarah's voice came from outside, “Ethan, open the door and explain what's going on!”
“If you have an issue, I won't disturb you!” Alice faintly heard the commotion, teasingly saying before hanging up the phone.
Feeling speechless, Ethan reluctantly opened the door.
“What’s the matter?” he asked.
Sarah pushed past him and entered the suite. She asked, “Alice was the person you brought in, right? Why did she suddenly work with Frank? That woman is so unreliable!”
Ethan looked confused, “What are you talking about? I don't understand. How could Alice work with Frank?”
Sarah angrily interrogated, “Are you kidding me? Evander went to Sun Lake this morning to check on the land. However, QU Group's people stopped him, saying they own the land now! If it weren't for Alice, how could that land have ended up in Frank's hands?”
Ethan calmly reminded her, unimpressed, “Are you accusing Alice of betraying us? That’s usually how business is. If someone offers her money, you can't expect her to just refuse, right? Alice is just our business partner!”
“I just don't like her! Moreover, now QU Group has that land, how can our project proceed? Do we need to go and beg that scumbag Frank now?” Sarah's face was filled with anger. After all, Evander had only gone to the scene briefly before being stopped by QU Group's people; it was clear that they were deliberately targeting them!
“It's just some land; just let Evander go and buy it from QU Group. Frank is just trying to take advantage of us after all his efforts!” Ethan didn't disclose his plan to Sarah, trying to calm her down.
As long as he didn’t appease this woman, he guessed he wouldn’t have a good life.
