Chapter41 Unexpected
"Just with those words, I can bring you back for questioning! Will you come voluntarily, or do you want me to take action?“
Mike didn't show any signs of anger, still asking indifferently.
All of this seemed natural to him.
“Why’d you have to attack me from behind? If you have the guts for it, why don’t you let me recover first and then fight me again?“
Ethan sneered coldly, taunting.
“Your taunts are pointless. Anyway, it seems like you won’t cooperate. Then, I'll have to use a bit more effort!”
As Mike said that, he slowly approached Ethan.
“Stop! What do you think you’re doing? I won't let you hurt him!”
Chloe suddenly shielded Ethan, standing between them both.
“You’ve got nothing to do with this. If you don't want to die, you’d better scram!”
Mike didn't stop his footsteps, merely warning coldly.
She snorted stubbornly, “You might as well kill me too!”
“Chloe, you need to run. You can’t stop him!” Ethan became anxious at this moment.
He already knew Mike’s formidable strength earlier. Not to mention him, even Chloe wouldn’t be able to stop Mike.
However, she showed no signs of backing down, ignoring Ethan and still stubbornly staring at Mike’s approaching figure.
“Greg, if you don't take action right now, then I'll die with him!”
Just as Mike was getting closer, she suddenly shouted at the top of her lungs.
Before she even finished saying that, an old man in a robe suddenly appeared at the staircase in front of them.
Although he walked slowly and looked weak, he made Mike’s face turn dark, contrary to his usual calmness.
“Must you interfere in other people's business?“ Mike asked in a low voice.
Upon seeing the old man, Chloe relaxed.
Ethan and Jayden glanced at her, unusual expressions on their faces.
“I don't care about anything else, but nobody can harm her on my watch!“ Greg pointed at Chloe calmly, filled with undeniable confidence.
Mike's face twisted unpredictably. He sensed a dangerous aura from Greg, sharpened through numerous life and death experiences.
His intuition told him that Greg’s strength was definitely greater than his. He would lose if they were to fight now!
“Ethan, consider yourself lucky today. I will settle scores with you soon, so you better pray Tim is alright!”
Mike sneered coldly, carrying Tim’s unconscious body and vanishing instantly.
What incredible speed! Ethan finally snapped back to reality, his body sweating profusely.
The Wilson family had the Shadow Gang. Though Ethan had never seen them, he had heard of this organization.
All of its members were orphans the family adopted. They didn't lead ordinary lives, not even receiving names until they trained enough and was qualified for it. These individuals had been learning how to kill since young, making them the most mysterious force within the Wilsons.
The Shadow Gang was controlled by the patriarch and elders, and ordinary members of the family couldn’t mobilize them.
What shocked Ethan even more was Greg appearing and chasing Mike away!
Who was this old man?
Without waiting to ask Chloe, Ethan's previously calm face suddenly turned red with pain.
“What's wrong, Ethan?“ she noticed his pained expression and rushed to help him, asking with concern.
Ethan responded by spurting out a mouthful of blood!
“Are you wounded? How are you feeling? I'll take you to the hospital immediately!” her face changed instantly.
“No need; It's just a minor injury. I can handle it myself. Going to the hospital would only be unsafe,“ Ethan replied with a pale face, directly rejecting her suggestion.
She invited, “Then come to my place. It's safer and quieter there. With Greg around, they wouldn’t dare make any bold moves,“
Upon hearing this, Ethan looked at Greg and hesitated for a moment. Finally, he nodded in agreement.
Chloe and Jayden hurriedly supported Ethan and left the café, heading straight downstairs.
She lived in a small neighborhood at the city’s outskirts. The housing prices here weren’t too high, although it was a bit desolate. However, the peacefulness and the nice scenery was its advantage.
Ethan and Jayden, both wounded, were brought back to Chloe's villa, where they were settled in a guest room on the second floor.
“Miss Miller, that gentleman earlier... “Jayden glanced outside and curiously asked about Greg’s absence after returning to the villa.
“He's an elder in my family and also knows some combat techniques. Just relax for now. If there’s anything, let me know. With him around, Mike wouldn’t dare step foot here!” Chloe explained, clearly not wanting to reveal the old man's identity.
Lying on the bed, Ethan reminded Jayden, “Jayden, don't pry into what you shouldn’t. Thank you so much for today, Miss Miller!”
“Why are you still being so polite to me? And stop calling me that; just use my name! Are we still friends or not?“ Chloe retorted, an upset look on her face.
Ethan could only shake his head wryly. He initially thought she was just a normal and nice girl, but Greg’s presence made him realize she had a terrifying background! He had underestimated her.
“Rest for a while. I need to handle something!” Chloe said as she turned and left, knowing that Greg was surely waiting for her.
On the villa's rooftop, she saw Greg standing at the edge, facing away from her.
Feeling a bit nervous, she softly said, “Greg, thanks for your help earlier!”
Greg sighed as he warned her, “Just consider it a payment for Madam’s help. However, Miss. I must remind that you’re already engaged,“
Upon hearing this, her eyes were slightly bitter. She smiled self-mockingly as she said, “I know. I just want to help him as much as possible before leaving.“
“You can't! The Wilson family’s internal struggles aren’t something we should get involved in. It's too complicated! If Madam finds out, it wouldn’t be good for either of you. You might even endanger him!” Greg reminded her with a serious tone.
“Are you going to tell her about this?“ Chloe's face turned pale.
