Chapter 208 The Paths Cross
Only Ethan and Sarah came out of Carlos's study.
Clarence and Orion stayed behind to discuss business with him while the two made a quick exit.
Ethan had little interest in the Harris family's business matters. After confirming their next development goals, he took Sarah and left directly.
In his mind, there were more suitable candidates besides Alexander that can handle these trivial matters.
"Uncle, how are you doing in Norway?" Ethan asked with a smile after dialing Jayden's number, who was far away abroad.
"Ethan, you finally remembered to call me! If you hadn't contacted me soon, I might've forgotten about you! Life here is comfortable, but I miss being back in Novaria and helping you!" Jayden's excited voice came through the phone.
The familiar voice warmed Ethan's heart.
"If you want to come back, you can do it right now since I need your help. However, you won't be returning to Novaria; it's Everglow City instead!" Ethan stated directly.
"I've already heard from Eric about the situation there. Aren't you taking too big a risk this time?" Jayden asked worriedly.
"No worries; I have a way out. If I can't handle this little storm, how can I stand against the Wilson family?" Ethan replied confidently with a smile.
"I'll book a ticket and catch the next flight to Everglow City!" Jayden didn't hesitate, not questioning what Ethan needed him to do in Everglow City. There was always absolute trust between them; knowing Ethan needed him was enough!
On the other hand, Sarah quietly waited on the side until Ethan finished his call. She then softly asked, "Do you have confidence in this battle?"
"I've caused such a commotion just for this next step. If I don't act now, it'll be incredibly difficult to act in the future. This is the best time; I need to do it now!" Ethan's face was full of determination.
"By the way, what are you planning to do about Percival? He left his number for you, evidently wanting to talk to you alone," Sarah asked, recalling Merrick giving Ethan a note earlier in the day.
"To be honest, I don't particularly like him. From his actions today, it's clear he's a bigger liar than Munro," Ethan said, shaking his head slowly.
"So, you're not planning to meet him?" Sarah sighed in relief. Clearly, she wasn't fond of Merrick either and didn't want Ethan to have too much contact with him.
More importantly, what would Chloe think if she found out?
"Are you teaming up with him behind my back to go against my parents?"
"Meeting him is meaningless now. Munro and Merrick vying for the main responsible position might take another ten or twenty years!" Ethan laughed. In reality, struggling for that position had become insignificant after Percival's recovery. If he stayed healthy, he might outlive both of his sons.
The Millers didn't need to worry about the main position right now. What they should consider was how to raise outstanding talents among the third generation as reserves for future successors.
Sarah's eyes lit up at Ethan's words, feeling a sudden clarity. She thought, 'How could I have forgotten about Percival?'
In Midnight Oasis, Oakridge Drive.
Every night, this place was a paradise for young people and was famously expensive in Everglow City.
Ordinary wage earners might not even afford to come here, as they'd be scared off by the high price tag for a single drink. Even plain water started at fifteen dollars.
Despite this, Midnight Oasis was still bustling with business every night, showing just how many wealthy people there were!
Isolde was also a regular here, often surrounded by a group of young men and women as she enjoyed herself in various spots.
After parting ways with Ethan earlier, she came here to vent her frustrations on the dance floor.
Eventually, she seemed to get tired of dancing and led her entourage to the sauna area. A few young ladies from wealthy backgrounds sipped red wine and steamed in the sauna, listening to Isolde complain and harshly criticize Ethan and Sarah.
Of course, she wasn't the only one feeling down; the Ashford family was also in a bad mood.
Ethan had caused a huge scene at today's engagement party. He only seriously injured Kenny, but also ran off with Chloe; making them lose all dignity.
As part of the Ashfords, they naturally saw Ethan as an enemy and were furious.
However, some members were quite grateful to Ethan, particularly those who hated seeing Kenny doing well; this included the second son, Magnus.
In terms of personality, Magnus was quite similar to Merrick; both were fond of scheming behind the scenes.
He was Kenny's cousin, and from birth, he was destined to be overshadowed by Kenny. No matter how hard he tried, he could only play a supporting role to Kenny.
While Kenny was comatose, Magnus brought a group of Ashford family apprentices to Midnight Oasis to have fun. As he steamed in the sauna, he listened to the Ashford family heirs angrily talk about Ethan as if wanting to kill him. A mocking smile appeared in Magnus's eyes.
Of course, outwardly, he had to agree with a few words to show that he was on the same side as Kenny and the rest of the family.
Coincidentally, he and Isolde left the sauna almost simultaneously and ran into each other at the door.
Although Everglow City was large, there weren't many activities, so they often ran into each other. They were definitely familiar, if not close.
However, when the Ashford family members saw Isolde today, their expressions immediately darkened. If the Harris family hadn't brought Ethan to the engagement party today, none of the subsequent troubles would have happened.
Although Dorian Miller didn't make things difficult for the Harris family and let them leave safely, it didn't mean the matter was resolved. Just now, in the sauna, two Ashford family members were bragging about how they'd beat up any Harris family member they saw. They didn't have the guts to trouble Ethan directly, so they would only pick on the easy targets!
"Isn't this Miss Harris? You seem so happy today, bringing people to enjoy Midnight Oasis? You guys sure have some nerve," sneered one of the Ashford family members. He had previously vowed to teach the Harris family a lesson so he stepped forward and taunted Isolde.
"Ridiculous! Your family doesn't own Midnight Oasis; I come here whenever I want. What does it matter to you whether I'm in a good mood or not? It seems like the ones who lost face today are your Ashford family," Isolde retorted. She immediately recognized the speaker as Lucian Ashford, a notorious troublemaker. Normally, he never bothered her, but her fiery temper emerged when he provoked her for no reason!
