Chapter 430 A Rookie
"Is it really necessary to freak out over a glance? It's not like I enjoy looking!" Ethan snapped, turning his head away in frustration.
"What do you mean you don't like it? What's wrong with me?" Angela shouted, clearly upset.
"There's nothing wrong with you; it's my eyes that are the problem!" Ethan muttered, deciding to stay quiet. If they kept arguing, they might crash the car!
After their spat, the mood turned sour. Angela stayed silent with a cold expression as they drove into the military restricted area of Novaria.
After passing several checkpoints, Angela led Ethan to the Nightfall Brigade's training camp.
As soon as they got out of the car, Ethan saw a familiar face—Billy, whom he had met at the mayor's mansion before!
"Ethan, we finally meet again. It wasn't easy getting you here. Thanks to Angela!" Billy greeted him warmly with a big smile.
"Long time no see, Mr. Hill!" Ethan nodded awkwardly, realizing he had stood Billy up for quite a while.
"Mr. Hill, Ethan has agreed to help everyone open the Sea of Energy today. Get everyone to line up at the training ground immediately!" Angela told Billy directly.
"All two thousand of them?" Billy's eyes widened in surprise.
"All of them. It won't take much time anyway." Ethan nodded with a smile.
"I'll arrange it right away!" Billy's eyes lit up, and he quickly called over a few key officers.
In just five minutes, over two thousand soldiers had gathered on the training ground!
"Ethan, everyone is here. Do you want to say a few words?" Billy asked softly after counting the numbers.
Ethan looked at the crowd of over two thousand with a curious expression.
It wasn't that Ethan had never seen such a large gathering, but the soldiers all had defiant looks on their faces, which he found amusing.
"No rush. I just want to know, how do you usually mistreat them?" Ethan asked, shaking his head.
"Mistreat?" Billy was stunned for a moment before he reacted. "When have I ever mistreated them? Why do you say that?"
"I see their faces are full of resentment. Isn't your training too strict?" Ethan was confused.
"Oh, I got it." Billy looked a bit embarrassed.
"It's all because of you!" Angela snorted unhappily from the side.
"Because of me?" Ethan was stunned!
"Think about it. These two thousand people are elite soldiers selected from various military zones and units. No matter which unit they are in, they are top-notch. Yet, they've been waiting for you at this training camp for dozens of days!" Angela reminded him impatiently.
Ethan's mouth twitched. So, their resentment was aimed at him?
Now they had finally met their "enemy"!
"Let me introduce you. This is your chief instructor, Ethan, whom you've been waiting over fifty days to meet!" Angela announced loudly before Ethan could react.
Over two thousand pairs of eyes immediately focused on Ethan, making him feel awkward and helpless.
"Are you doing this on purpose?" Ethan whispered to Angela.
"I'm just telling the truth and introducing your identity. They would find out eventually!" Angela replied without any guilt.
"You're ruthless!" Ethan gritted his teeth.
Angela smiled, a flash of pride in her eyes.
"Permission to speak, sir!" A tall, burly soldier stepped out from the ranks.
"Granted," Billy frowned.
"I want to ask if what Angela just said is true. Is the rookie really our chief instructor?" The soldier glanced at Ethan with obvious disdain.
Compared to these seasoned soldiers, Ethan's thin frame did look weak.
"Rookie?" Ethan raised an eyebrow, giving off a chilling vibe.
Not only Billy, but even Angela's face changed.
"What nonsense are you talking about? This is your bona fide chief instructor. Show respect, even more than you would to me!" Billy scolded the soldier.
"Don't scold him. I find him quite interesting!" Ethan walked towards the soldier with a faint smile, leaving everyone unsure of his intentions.
"What are you doing?" Angela wanted to stop Ethan but found herself unable to move.
In the blink of an eye, Ethan was face-to-face with the soldier.
In terms of height, Ethan wasn't much shorter, but his build was much thinner.
"Did you just call me 'rookie'?" Ethan asked with a bright smile, showing his white teeth.
"What are you going to do?" The soldier stammered nervously, having never seen anyone cover such a distance so quickly.
"Let me show you what your chief instructor can do!" As soon as Ethan finished speaking, the soldier flew backward in a parabolic arc to the back of the formation!
A few seconds later, the sound of him hitting the ground came, and the soldier was dizzy, almost passing out!
Fortunately, Ethan used super energy, intending only to teach him a lesson. Otherwise, the fall alone could have been fatal.
"You two, bring him back!" Before the surrounding soldiers could react, Ethan ordered two of them.
The two soldiers immediately snapped to attention and ran towards the unfortunate soldier!
