Chapter66 The QU Group

Ethan's countenance remained unfazed by Grandpa's words. There was no hint of disappointment in his eyes, only a nod of agreement. He was acutely aware of his current standing, his strength too feeble to confront the formidable Wilson family.

In a world where alliances were built on power, no one would lend a hand without reason. This was especially true for a family as influential as the Harris family.

Ethan had indeed saved Clarence's life, a fact he couldn't deny. Yet, in the grand scheme of these powerful families, human life was paradoxically the most precious and the most trivial of matters.

"But, I presume you didn't summon me here solely for a casual meal, correct?" Ethan inquired, his tone steady and calm.

Clarence didn't refute his assumption. Instead, he fell silent, taking a moment before exhaling a deep breath. "Alan and James have been dispatched from Novaria under my orders. I've left them with some assets. They won't set foot in Novaria again without my explicit command."

Ethan had already anticipated Clarence's intentions. He knew that to truly earn Clarence's support, he would need to prove his worth or endure a series of tests. He was prepared for Clarence to lay down the gauntlet.

"To be frank, I nearly fell into a trap set by my own son. Do you think I've grown soft?" Clarence asked, a bitter chuckle escaping his lips.

"I understand," Ethan responded, a knowing smile playing on his lips.

"Yes, he is my son after all. How could I bring harm to him? But the repercussions of this incident are far from over. Now, I require your assistance," Clarence finally stated his intentions.

"As long as it's within my capabilities, I will not hold back," Ethan assured him, without a hint of hesitation.

"Aren't you concerned that I might betray you?" Clarence queried, his interest piqued.

"Given my current predicament, which you are well aware of, do I have anything worth sabotaging?" Ethan retorted, his laughter echoing confidence.

"Indeed, you do. Don't sell yourself short. Your business acumen is what I value the most. If you can revive and expand the Cloud Group, I believe there won't be any ordinary obstacles you can't surmount," Clarence reminded him earnestly.

"So, you plan to test me in this regard?" Ethan's heart fluttered at the revelation.

"Alan confessed to being lured by the Seattle QU Group, leading him to resort to such deceitful tactics. He was previously overseeing the Harris family's business in Seattle. He seized the opportunity of my coma to hand over two plots of land, worth over five billion dollars, to the QU Group. I hope you and Sarah can journey to Seattle and help me reclaim these plots, or at least retrieve their equivalent value," Clarence finally laid out his conditions.

"The QU Group? I've heard they're a leading real estate company in Seattle, backed by a major financial group," Ethan recalled, his memory serving him well.

"Does that intimidate you?" Clarence asked, his gaze fixed on Ethan.

Ethan chuckled in response, "I fear no one, especially not in the business realm. If you're merely asking me to recover the Harris family's losses, give me a week or two. I assure you, the results will be satisfactory. The only condition is that the Harris family must comply with my arrangements without question."

Witnessing Ethan's confident demeanor, Clarence readily agreed, "No problem. You'll have full access to all the resources of the Harris family in Seattle. Sarah will be there to assist you, and you can have her execute any plans you deem necessary."

"Then, there's no problem," Ethan replied, an eyebrow raised, a confident smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. If Clarence wished to gauge his capabilities, he would present him with results that would undoubtedly leave him astounded.
In the austere confines of the Chairman's office at Cloud Group, department heads congregated before Beverly, their gazes cast downward. The atmosphere was palpable, heavy with tension and unspoken words.

Beverly sat ensconced behind her desk, financial reports clutched in her hands. Her countenance was a mask of fury. "In a matter of days, Cloud Group has suffered significant losses - key projects abandoned, substantial company assets depleted. Can anyone enlighten me as to how this happened?" she demanded.

A vice president, summoning his courage, ventured a response. His voice wavered as he spoke. "This isn't our doing. The blame lies with Tim's prior directives."

Beverly's ire surged at his words. "Are you suggesting that Tim orchestrated the downfall of Cloud Group?" She wouldn't put it past him, considering his lack of acumen.

"No, not at all," the vice president hastily clarified. "On his first day, Tim suspended all the regulations and systems implemented by Ethan. He also put a stop to all the collaborative projects Ethan had initiated, insisting they needed review. This naturally incensed our partners, and the daily operations of the group suffered as a result."

Another executive interjected, "Indeed, none of Ethan's rules were upheld, and Tim failed to implement any new ones. Ultimately, he ended up in the hospital, unable to manage the group's affairs. How is this any different from someone intentionally sabotaging Cloud Group?"

"Tim is more of a hindrance than a help!" Beverly's hand slammed down on the table, her anger palpable yet tinged with a sense of helplessness.

Her sudden outburst sent a ripple of fear through the executives. They fell silent, their demeanors akin to startled birds, fearful that Beverly's wrath might be redirected towards them.

"Enough," Beverly cut through the silence. "I don't care about past events. As of now, I am the Chairman of Cloud Group. I decree that from this day forward, you will adhere to the rules set by Ethan without question. Resume all suspended projects immediately and extend apologies to our partners. We must strive to get the group back on track as swiftly as possible." Beverly's gaze swept over the executives, their cautious expressions reinforcing her decision to not confront Tim. She couldn't stand by and watch Cloud Group, a testament to Ethan's hard work, be torn asunder from within.

A collective sigh of relief swept through the executives. "There's hope for the Cloud Group yet!" they murmured amongst themselves.

Upon their arrival, they had feared Beverly might align herself with Tim, spelling certain doom for the Cloud Group. But it seemed Beverly was making a more reasoned decision, far more so than Tim, who...

"His idiocy knows no bounds!" Beverly muttered to herself. Dismissing the executives, she moved towards the floor-to-ceiling window, her gaze lost in the sprawling cityscape. A sigh escaped her lips as she massaged her temples. "Ethan, if only you weren't so stubborn. This is the best I can do to help you."
