Chapter 527 Herman's News
After the initial buzz wore off, Ethan was left totally stumped, realizing he sucked at making decisions.
The techniques Angel dug up for him to boost his spiritual sense all seemed super powerful. The catch? They were all crazy hard to get. Mastering them wasn't gonna be a walk in the park, and Ethan even doubted if he could wrap his head around them.
Plus, just understanding these techniques wasn't enough; he had to really get them, like, deep down.
"Can you make sense of these?" After racking his brain for ages and getting nowhere, Ethan had to ask Angel again.
"Are you kidding me? These aren't even the top-shelf ones. You seriously can't get these?" Angel shot him a weird look, a mix of disdain and suspicion.
Ethan's mouth twitched, wondering if he was really that clueless.
"Well, you folks kinda suck anyway. I still don't get how I ended up stuck in such a low-level world," Before Ethan could clap back, Angel chimed in again, looking all serious and talking to herself.
"Is it really that bad?" Ethan rolled his eyes so hard they almost got stuck. Now it wasn't just him; the whole world was getting roasted by her.
Even though he didn't know why, the decline in the path of cultivation was a fact. Ethan believed that way back, during the era of the SA Guild or whatever, this continent must've been popping with cultivation. Some big mess must've caused its downfall.
"Alright, looks like you can't handle this solo. I'll break down whatever you don't get," Angel didn't argue and just laid it out straight.
This was exactly what Ethan had been hoping for. Angel knew a ton, and even with her memory all jacked up, she could still teach him a lot with her understanding.
With Angel's help, Ethan finally picked a technique to kickstart his spiritual sense cultivation after half a day's grind.
The technique was called "Methods of Soul Cultivation," considered the most basic starter pack. According to Angel, back in the golden age of cultivation, this would've been the go-to technique.
But the most common techniques were also the hardest to nail. Learning them was easy, but getting their essence and hitting the top level was a whole different ball game; it needed serious insight.
"Methods of Soul Cultivation" was split into two parts. The main focus was to quickly pump up one's spiritual power in no time, basically expanding the Sea of Consciousness.
As for the offensive moves of the spiritual power, they were pretty limited. You could only use your spiritual power to launch a scare attack on the opponent's spirit, which meant messing with their soul.
Plus, the attack's punch depended on whether your spiritual power was stronger than your opponent's. Even if the spiritual powers were close, the attack might flop and could even backfire, messing up your own spiritual sense.
Luckily, once you get the hang of "Methods of Soul Cultivation," you can dive into other spiritual attack skills without any drama. Ethan didn't sweat it too much; the main thing was to get rolling and beef up his spiritual sense ASAP.
To quickly blow up his Sea of Consciousness, "Methods of Soul Cultivation" was hands down the best pick.
With Angel showing him the ropes, Ethan picked things up way faster. Any questions he had were broken down in simple terms, helping him dodge a bunch of rookie mistakes and nail the basics quick.
Just when Ethan was deep into "Methods of Soul Cultivation," some news made him hit pause on his training.
Herman had popped up. This key player in Matthew's vanishing act was finally on Ethan's radar.
"Mr. Wilson, this guy's in Lope Town, Kyro. From what I got, he showed up there three days ago and hasn't bounced yet," Alexander's voice came through the phone, cool as ever.
"Any idea what he's up to there?" Ethan asked, eyebrows knitting together.
Kyro was a war-torn mess outside the country, with its government flipping like pancakes over the past few decades. Civil wars were a constant, making it a playground for mercenaries and shady characters.
This place also had some Cross Christianity vibes. It didn't shock Ethan that Herman would show up there.
"I dug around. Lope Town's pretty low-key 'cause it's on the edge of Kyro, near the desert, so not many outsiders. Most folks are locals. But in the past week, Lope Town's been buzzing. Lots of groups are sending people there, supposedly 'cause some treasure popped up," Alexander explained quickly.
"Treasure?" Ethan's curiosity was sparked.
"Don't know the deets. Seems like a bunch of factions are scrapping over something," Alexander continued.
"Keep tabs on Herman, and get me a ticket to Kyro." Ethan thought for a sec and decided to head to Kyro himself.
"Sorry, Mr. Wilson, no direct flights to Kyro. You'll have to hit Phukettle first and then make your way into Kyro," Alexander reminded him.
"Just sort it out. I need to get there pronto. We can't let Herman slip away now that we've got a lead," Ethan didn't care and just pushed Alexander to hurry.
After hanging up with Alexander, Ethan left his room. It was still afternoon, and besides Jessie, Chloe and the others were still grinding at work.
"Heading out again?" Hearing Ethan come downstairs, Jessie, who was nose-deep in a book, looked up and asked.
"Found Herman. Gotta bounce for a few days, go abroad," Ethan shared his plan.
"You found him?" Jessie shot up, clearly worried about the news.
"I'll figure out a way to bring him back." Ethan nodded.
"Alright, just be careful. If it gets too hairy, don't push it. Safety first," Jessie knew she couldn't stop Ethan, so she just reminded him to stay safe.
Soon, Alexander hit him up, saying he booked the next flight to Phukettle, which was in two hours. Ethan didn't have time to say goodbye to Chloe and the others, so he asked Jessie to pass on the message and then bolted straight to the airport.
