Chapter 434 How to Be an Ordinary Person
Jessie used to be a badass warrior, almost hitting that Half-Step Grandmaster level. She was the one who showed Ethan the ropes on using softness to beat strength, back in the day.
Now that Ethan's got some serious power-ups, he naturally thought about helping Jessie level up while keeping her safe.
"They told me, but I ain't sweating it. Don't worry about me. Focus on taking over the Wilson family and finding your dad. Then we can chat!" Jessie shook her head, basically telling Ethan to chill.
Ethan gave a wry smile; he knew Jessie was throwing some pressure his way!
"Got it!" Ethan reluctantly backed off.
"Good. I know you're under a ton of stress, but only you can dig up the truth about your dad's disappearance!" Jessie said, looking kinda helpless.
"Don't worry. I'll find Dad, no matter what!" Ethan nodded, all determined.
"Alright, I'm heading upstairs to crash. You guys chat. If you need to bounce, no need to tell me!" Jessie said and headed upstairs.
"Jessie's probably thinking about my dad again. Why don't you go keep her company?" Ethan asked Alice, looking a bit helpless.
"Are you heading out again?" Alice shot back.
"Got some stuff to handle!" Ethan nodded. After watching Alice go upstairs, he left the villa.
Trevor was trying to get used to normal life. After being a monk for over twenty years, it was tough to suddenly act like a regular dude.
"What are you up to?" When Ethan walked into the living room of the neighboring villa, he saw Trevor in an apron, mopping the floor.
Seeing the spotless villa, Ethan knew Trevor had cleaned every inch.
"Can't you tell? I'm doing chores!" Trevor said, looking confused.
"I get you're trying to live a normal life, but doing chores like this isn't what regular guys do, especially not someone like you!" Ethan shook his head, kinda speechless.
"We were used to it in Celestia Vale. Everyone had their own spots to clean, and they had to be spotless!" Trevor scratched his head, looking awkward.
"But dude, this isn't Celestia Vale, and you're not a monk anymore. You don't need to clean like this! You're a Half-Step Grandmaster now. With your skills, you could use a bit of super energy to clean this place in a snap!" Ethan rolled his eyes, not sure what to say.
"Oh, got it! I'll use super energy to clean from now on!" Trevor nodded, still processing Ethan's advice.
"How about coming out with me to learn how to be a normal person?" Ethan changed the subject, grinning at Trevor.
"You'd teach me?" Trevor asked.
"I don't have much going on, so think of it as taking you out for a spin!" Ethan said, heading out.
Trevor quickly ditched the apron and followed him.
As they got into the car, Ethan was about to start driving when he suddenly remembered something and asked Trevor, "Can you drive?"
"I really can't. Never needed to. If it's far, I just hop on a plane!" Trevor shook his head.
"You've never driven, but you've seen it enough, right? You're a Half-Step Grandmaster, you can handle complex martial arts and Buddhist scriptures. Driving should be a walk in the park for you!" Ethan said, getting out and heading to the passenger side where Trevor was sitting.
"What are you doing?" Trevor asked, looking puzzled.
"Obviously, we're switching. You're driving!" Ethan rolled his eyes.
"Alright, I'll give it a shot!" Trevor was about to refuse, but then he thought, most normal folks can drive. Maybe this was part of fitting in!
Trevor didn't need any lessons. As soon as the car started moving, he could gauge the speed and direction based on the pedal pressure and steering angle, making sure he stayed on track.
Just like Ethan said, within three minutes, Trevor went from a newbie to a pro-level driver!
But what left Ethan speechless was Trevor's single-mindedness. He drove based on his own logic, as long as he didn't hit anything. He ignored all traffic rules and even some laws of physics. At speeds where the car shouldn't make it, he used super energy to dodge two oncoming trucks and land safely, then instantly slowed down to the engine's limit.
Ethan guessed the traffic cameras couldn't even catch the car's license plate!
Trevor was driving the car like it was a jet!
"Chill out. Look at others; who drives like you? If you keep this up, we might as well walk. It'd be safer!" Ethan suddenly regretted letting Trevor drive.
"It's my first time, so I'm a bit pumped!" Trevor said awkwardly, slowing down a lot.
But soon, Ethan was speechless again. Trevor was now mimicking a slow, cautious driver.
"I told you to drive like a normal person, not like a learner! Do you get 'normal'? See those speed limit signs? Follow the traffic lights, don't speed, and get us there smoothly and quickly!" Ethan patiently explained.
"Oh, got it! You should've said so earlier!" Trevor nodded, finally getting it.
Ethan finally managed to direct Trevor to the Cloud Group building. He quickly got Trevor out of the car and swore never to let him drive again!
"Come with me. The Cloud Group is my turf now. Think of it as showing you the ropes!" Ethan said, walking into the Cloud Mansion.
"Ethan, what brings you here?" As soon as they entered the lobby, Beverly came out with a group and asked curiously upon seeing Ethan.
"That's a dumb question. It's not like I can't come here, right?" Ethan smirked at Beverly, wondering why she was so surprised to see him.
