Chapter 471 The Show Begins

"Yo, Brady, you're lookin' pretty lively," Ethan said, giving Brady a once-over.

"These old bones still got some fight left," Brady replied, missing the sarcasm in Ethan's voice. With that friendly smile, anyone would think he was just a sweet old guy.

"Think my comeback's gonna give you a heart attack?" Ethan laughed, not holding back.

Brady's smile froze, clearly not expecting Ethan to throw shade like that in front of everyone. It was a bold move to stir the pot.

Elmer stayed quiet, while everyone else exchanged looks, especially the council elders, who stared at Ethan in shock.

"You're kidding, right? The whole Wilson clan's happy to have you back. I'm old, but I can still help you snag the head spot before I kick the bucket," Brady quickly recovered, showing his loyalty again.

"Thanks in advance," Ethan nodded, but inside, he was smirking.

For Ethan, this trip was all about Brady. He didn't give a damn about being the head of the Wilson family.

Seeing Ethan's blatant, challenging stare, Brady lowered his head, his brows knitting together.

"Ethan, where's Jessie?" Brady asked, trying to change the subject.

"Jessie's off exploring. Don't worry about her. She'll come back when she's ready," Ethan said casually, then turned to Elmer, "You sent these guys to pick me up at the airport. Not worried I'd lose it and take 'em out?"

Ethan was talking about Elbert and the Shadow Gang, who had once tried to kill him after he got booted from the Cloud Group.

Elbert and his crew, just out of the convoy, looked grim, fear in their eyes as they glanced at Ethan and Elmer.

"The house is ready. Take your friends inside to rest. The kid's already asleep," Brady said, glancing at Camila, who was snoozing in Hannah's arms, inviting Ethan without any emotion.

But Ethan ignored Brady. He raised his hand and smacked Elbert and the others around.

After some screams, the Shadow Gang members who had been sent to Novaria to kill Ethan were on the ground, clutching their stomachs, staring at Ethan in disbelief.

Everyone was shocked by Ethan's sudden move, and the tension skyrocketed.

Brady's forehead veins popped, and his mouth twitched, clearly pissed.

"If my wife and daughter weren't here, I wouldn't have just messed up their Sea of Qi. Elmer, these are your guys. Got any problems with that?" Ethan asked Elmer with a calm smile.

Sarah and Chloe recognized Elbert and the others and understood why Ethan did it, so they weren't too surprised.

Hannah and Alice, on the other hand, didn't know the details and looked at Ethan with concern. They knew Ethan and Brady were enemies, but they didn't expect a showdown so soon, and with Ethan starting it.

"You gotta be kidding me. These clowns tried to off you. Crippling their Sea of Qi is letting 'em off easy," Elmer said, glancing at the fuming Brady and chuckling.

On the surface, these guys were Shadow Gang members, but in reality, they took orders from Brady. When Brady sent them to Novaria, he bypassed Elmer and gave the orders himself.

Since Brady could openly take over Elmer's crew, did it matter if Ethan took them out? Elmer even hoped Ethan would wipe out a few more and clean house.

"You hear that? Elmer's cool with it. What about you?" Ethan asked Brady with a grin.

Brady clenched his right fist behind his back, took a deep breath to keep his cool, and said through gritted teeth, "They're Shadow Gang members. I got no control over them."

"Smart move," Ethan nodded, looking pleased.

"Can we go inside now? I've got a banquet ready to welcome you," Brady asked, his voice deep and his face blank.

"Let's go, check out the Shadow Gang's turf. Back when I was with the Wilson family, their place was off-limits. Never been in there," Ethan ignored Brady and spoke to Elmer, heading towards a secluded part of the Wilson family's complex.

Chloe and the others, along with Trevor, naturally followed Ethan. Elmer shot Brady a cold look before leading the remaining Shadow Gang members after Ethan.

As for the crippled Elbert and his crew, they could only look pitifully at the stone-faced Brady.

"Brady, Ethan's really pushing it. Are you seriously gonna back him as head of the family?" Herman asked angrily once Ethan and Elmer were out of sight.

"What do you think? Or do you wanna go and take him down yourself?" Brady squinted and asked in a low voice.

Herman went silent. He was just a martial artist who snagged the second elder spot after defecting from the Wilson family. He was a minor player, at best standing behind Brady and cheering. Asking him to fight was like asking him to die.

"Brady, save us, please!" Elbert and the others crawled to Brady's feet, begging.

"Useless trash, better off dead," Brady's eyes flashed with murder, and he walked away.

"Brady, what about those guys? Ethan and Elmer are clearly looking to wipe out the Shadow Gang's dissenters. Should we pull the hidden ones out early?" Herman quickly followed, whispering.

"Get rid of the useless ones. The others are well-hidden and shouldn't be on Elmer's radar. Don't contact them for now," Brady said, quickening his pace and disappearing at the entrance of the Wilson Villa.

Herman turned and signaled to his guards, sealing Elbert and the others' fate.

Elbert and the other Shadow Gang assassins' downfall was just Ethan's first act of revenge against Brady upon returning to the Wilson Villa, but it sure wouldn't be the last. The show was just getting started.
