Chapter87 Generosity
Alice was filled with astonishment and embarrassment. Even though she was open-minded, it was only toward Ethan. She never thought other people would see her.
“Darling... I seem to have messed things up. Shouldn't you go and comfort that poor little girl?”
At this moment, Ethan could only smile wryly and shake his head. He didn't know what Sarah had seen or heard. How could he explain this situation?
“I hope this girl doesn't talk nonsense. Otherwise, I'll really have a headache!”
His biggest worry was that Sarah would directly call Chloe without any consideration. But now that things had come to this point, he could only do his best to clear the misunderstanding up.
“I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cause you any trouble!”
Alice looked pitifully at Ethan and explained, like a child who had made a mistake.
Seeing her like this, his heart softened. “Forget it, let's just consider this matter closed. Let’s not repeat this in the future, okay?”
“Well then, I'll go back now. You should rest early. Good night!” Alice said with a disappointed look, turning around to leave.
“Wait. Since you're here, let's discuss business. Where are you staying now? Frank probably hasn't located you yet, right?”
Ethan called out to Alice, his tone turning serious.
“My people told me that someone’s currently searching for me in all of the city’s hotels. However, I’ve already rented a villa downtown. As long as I don't show up in public, they won't find me for a while!”
Alice stopped in her tracks upon hearing this, turning her head as she explained to Ethan.
Ethan nodded and asked further, “I've already created some buzz today. What do you think?”
Alice responded with a non-committal question, “I heard about what happened tonight. I think I should give Frank some benefits at the right time. What do you think?”
“Then wait a moment.” Ethan said and dialed Brent's number on his phone.
After a brief conversation, he learned that Brent still had a series of promotional activities for the tourism investment project, one of which was a welcome reception he’d attend on the relevant department’s behalf.
It wasn’t only to welcome Alice's investment, but also to gather influential figures from Seattle, promoting the project and laying the foundation for the subsequent industry and business district formation.
“The reception sounds good. I think it's necessary, since we need important connections for the future! Brent, I have a request. Can we hold the reception a little earlier?”
Ethan immediately came up with an idea and discussed it with Brent.
“When does Mr. Wilson want to advance it to?”
Ethan explained his idea, “How about tomorrow night? You can hold it at the hotel I’m staying at. I'll coordinate with Shine Group and the hotel to arrange everything, and you just need to handle the specific guest list. We can also invite some media friends to attend!”
“Why the rush? Are you sure there won't be any problems with this, Mr. Wilson?”
Brent was surprised and hesitant. After all, the reception was being held in the relevant department’s name. If any mishaps were to happen from rushing so much, it’d truly be embarrassing.
Ethan confidently assured, “As long as you can arrange the attendees, leave everything else to me. I guarantee there won't be any problems!”
“Alright then. I'll have the party invitations written up and sent out early tomorrow morning!” Brent hesitated shortly, but eventually agreed. After all, Ethan was the key figure for this investment.
Once he was done, Ethan turned to Alice and said, “You go back for now. Frank won't miss the party tomorrow night. I can't wait to see your performance!”
“Alright, I'll never disappoint you. Hope you have a good dream tonight!” Alice confidently nodded and surprised Ethan with a kiss before happily running out.
Coming back to his senses, Ethan touched his cheek and let out a wry smile. He took out his phone and called Chloe.
To his relief, she answered the phone quickly. He was slightly shocked; it was evident Sarah didn’t tell her what happened!
Even so, he had no intention of hiding this from Chloe. He didn't want others to spread bad rumors to her.
However, what surprised him again was Chloe's calm reaction after hearing what Alice did. She even scolded him for rejecting her directly, worrying about how it might hurt her feelings.
“Aren't you angry?” he was shocked by her concern for Alice's emotions and asked.
Chloe's gentle laughter came through the phone, “Why would I be angry? It's only natural for talented girls to be attracted to an exceptional man like you, right? It just proves I have good taste!”
While Ethan was touched by Chloe's understanding, an odd feeling crept into his heart, as if something wasn't quite right. However, he couldn't pinpoint what it was.
“Thank you, Chloe. Get some rest, okay? Good night!”
Either way, this was a satisfactory outcome for him. After ending the call, he sighed in relief. He thought that girls from prestigious families indeed had different perspectives and ways of handling things compared to ordinary girls.
Unfortunately, Ethan didn't know that when Chloe ended the call, her face was filled with complex emotions.
“I’m sorry, Ethan. I know I shouldn't hide it from you, but I have to. Perhaps it’d be better for you to have another girl by your side after I leave!”
On the other hand, Ethan immediately coordinated with the hotel to quickly arrange the ceremony.
Although Evander was somewhat surprised, it wasn’t difficult for Shine Group, especially since Brent took care of the guest list and the venue arrangements were mostly done.
“Why didn't I know about the reception today?”
After Evander left, Sarah voiced her dissatisfaction.
Ethan explained with a dry smile, “You didn't ask me either. Moreover, you’ve been staring at me with bitter resentment since this morning. You scared me into silence!”
“I don't want to deal with you. Anyways, I'm calling Chloe to chat. You’d better watch your steps!”
Sarah hummed softly, shaking her phone with slight threat in her throne.
