Chapter 553 Angela's Choice
Angela stretched out her arm and said, "Nah, he can handle it."
"So, we heading back?" Ethan asked, a bit unsure.
"You sure you don't wanna bail? If you wanna go now, I won't stop you," Angela said, giving Ethan a serious look.
"Why would I leave when I've got a smokin' hot wife like you? Only an idiot would," Ethan said with a cheeky grin.
"Smooth talker, is this how you charmed all the others?" Angela tried to keep a straight face but ended up blushing and smiling.
"You've changed since we first met," Ethan said, suddenly serious.
"Really? How so?" Angela asked, curious.
"When we first met, you were all ice queen, never blushing." Ethan grinned.
Angela blushed again, probably more times in front of Ethan than ever before.
"Whatever," Angela huffed and got into her car.
Ethan chuckled, took one last look at the guardhouse, and hopped into Angela's car.
"Heading back?" Ethan asked, raising an eyebrow at Angela's hesitant look.
"What is this?" Angela suddenly asked.
"What do you mean, what is this?" Ethan frowned, confused.
"Did I just become your wife out of nowhere?" Angela bit her lip, staring at Ethan with dissatisfaction.
Ethan felt a bit helpless. Women like Angela, while capable of passionate love, could be quite particular about certain things. To put it simply, she had a stronger sense of pride and cared more about titles compared to Chloe and the others.
"Are you planning to never get married to me and just live like this forever?" Angela asked softly.
"Maybe. At least for now, I'm not considering it. Who knows what the future holds? You might not get it now, as you've got so much to experience. Once you see more and broaden your horizons, you won't be so hung up on these worldly rules," Ethan nodded, hinting.
"Broaden my horizons, worldly rules?" Angela furrowed her brows, confused.
"You'll get it soon. Being with me, you'll see and experience things you never have before," Ethan said seriously.
Angela fell silent, seemingly pondering Ethan's words.
Ethan suddenly reached out and held Angela's slightly cold hand. She stiffened but then gradually relaxed, tightening her grip on his hand.
"Maybe I should be asking you this. If you regret it now, it's not too late. If you decide..." Ethan didn't finish his sentence because Angela's lips had already sealed his.
Staring at Angela's face so close to his, Ethan's eyes widened, even noticing her trembling eyelashes.
Apart from her temper, Angela's appearance was flawless, even more beautiful than Chloe and the others. Ethan liked her looks, but more liked her proud personality.
Maybe it was a man's sense of achievement; conquering a woman with such a personality would make any man proud.
This time, Angela was all in. With her kinda clumsy teasing, Ethan quickly got into it, kissing her back with all the passion.
This was Angela's real first kiss. She knew she was totally falling for him and didn't regret a thing.
As they were getting all hot and heavy in the car, a bruised Marco showed up at the guardhouse door. Seeing what was going down in Angela's car, he almost forgot his pain, his eyes popping out in shock.
Sensing someone watching, Ethan and Angela snapped out of it, their eyes locking onto the stunned Marco.
"Y'all keep going, pretend I'm not here." Marco turned pale, quickly ducking back into the guardhouse and slamming the door.
Angela couldn't help but laugh. Seeing her smile, Ethan's lips curled up too.
"Let's cut him some slack. He's had it rough. Next time, don't just pick on him," Ethan teased with a chuckle.
"He just looks like he needs a beating," Angela huffed, starting the car and heading home.
When they got back, Cynthia was already busy in the kitchen. Lorenzo was watching the news on TV, humming a tune, looking pretty pleased. Seeing Ethan and Angela return hand in hand, he smiled.
"You're back. Dinner's almost ready. Keep your dad company and watch TV," Cynthia's voice came from the kitchen.
The family just kinda ignored the earlier drama, looking all happy and chill.
Meanwhile, out in the desert, Phoenix showed up at the foot of a rocky hill. He didn't open the Celestia Vale portal but waited for something.
Soon, the Celestia Vale portal opened, and Raymond stepped out with a bunch of elders.
"Raymond, you going personally this time?" Phoenix asked, surprised.
"Yeah. You stay in Celestia Vale, and I'll feel better," Raymond nodded.
Phoenix frowned.
"After all these years, if Francis doesn't come back, are you never gonna set foot in Celestia Vale again?" Raymond sighed.
"Celestia Vale still has Neil and the other elders. They don't need me," Phoenix said, stone-faced.
"You get why he did it, right? You think he meant any harm?" Raymond asked, frowning.
"Doesn't matter what he meant, it shouldn't have gone down like that. He owes Francis an apology," Phoenix said seriously.
He thought, 'It's not just Neil who owes Francis an apology; the whole Celestia Vale does, and they even owe one to Ethan!. Neil might have meant well, not wanting Francis's Sun Bead, but his pushy approach is no different from trying to take the Sun and Moon Beads from Ethan. Did they ever think if Francis or Ethan would agree?'
"Enough, Neil is still in seclusion. Since you won't enter Celestia Vale, come with me this time," Raymond said with a bitter smile.
