Chapter93 Confrontation
When Ethan and Sarah entered Frank's office, both father and son remained seated as if they had no intentions of greeting them. They looked at Ethan, their eyes filled with mockery.
Ethan didn't mind this, sitting down next to Louis on the sofa as he said, “Mr. Louis, you're here as well. Where's the friend you mentioned before?”
Louis’s smug and mocking face instantly froze.
Frank's mouth twitched. He didn't expect Ethan to show not even a hint of panic or humility. On the contrary, he was acting even more arrogant. Instead of greeting him, Ethan went to tease Louis!
Sarah was also startled by Ethan's behavior, finding the room’s atmosphere quite strange. She didn't sit down next to Ethan, still standing quietly on the side.
“Why are you standing there? Come over and sit! This place is basically your place, no? Why bother being polite to them?” Ethan glanced at her, pulling her to sit on the sofa.
Frank almost fainted from anger when he heard this!
With a loud bang, he slammed the table and stood up.
“You two really have no manners, huh? Do you think is Shine Group? Don't forget that this is QU Group, my office!”
“I know. After all, we came specifically to meet you. Evander told me that you wanted me to come in person, so I wasted no time. I came right away!” Ethan explained earnestly, nodding his head.
Frank let out a cold snort, “So you do understand! However, coming like this doesn't seem like you're here to apologize.”
“Apologize? When did I say I’d do that? Tell me, what did I do wrong?” Ethan's words left Frank even more astonished.
He never expected Ethan to play dumb, even in front of death.
Frank's face instantly darkened, “You think I can't do anything to you in this state? Let me warn you, Ethan. If you don't beg me today, I won't let Shine Group touch an inch of that land, even if it turns completely barren!”
“What exactly do you want?” Sarah, completely bewildered by Ethan's actions, whispered in his ear.
Ethan didn't answer her, instead chuckling indifferently, “Since we've come this far, let's get straight to the point. If you're hoping to get me begging through this land, I'm afraid it wouldn’t be enough.”
“Oh, really? If that's the case, then I have nothing more to say. Get out of here right now! From now on, you’re both unwelcomed!” Frank sneered, thinking that Ethan was just bluffing.
“No problem! Since you don't welcome us, we'll leave. However, I also want to remind you. After we walk out that door, I won’t come back even if you beg me!”
To Frank and Sarah's surprise, Ethan really stood up and went toward the door.
“You really don't want the land?” Frank was baffled.
“Isn't that land yours? Since you don't want to hand it over, I can't force you, right? If you like it so much, just keep it!” Ethan shrugged helplessly, gesturing for Sarah, who was still bewildered, to follow him.
“Wait! You do understand that without this land, Shine Group’s partnership with RP Investments would end, right?” Frank suddenly became anxious. How could he let Ethan leave like this?
At that moment, he also realized that something was wrong, strong discomfort rising in his heart. However, he couldn’t tell what it was.
“So, are you willing to give us the land?” Ethan stopped in his tracks, smiling and asking.
Looking at him like that, Frank immediately understood.
“You act all tough, but in the end, you still want this land, don't you? If you want it, give me 300 billion dollars, and I'll give it to you!” Frank was even more convinced that Ethan was just lying.
After he said that, Frank stared at Ethan intently for a good half minute. Despite that, he couldn't see any shock or panic on Ethan’s face, but rather a hint of mockery in his gaze.
Sarah couldn't hold back before Ethan even spoke, “300 billion dollars? Mr. Frank, aren't you going a bit too far?”
Frank didn’t care whether Shine Group could bring out 300 billion dollars; even if they could, it’d be irrational to buy a piece of land with so much money!
“This is the price you pay for offending me. You no longer have the right to refuse!”
Frank snorted indifferently, still waiting for Ethan's reaction.
Ethan suddenly burst into laughter and proposed to Frank in a negotiating tone, “Hahaha! You must be joking! 300 billion dollars... if it were missing two zeros, I would’ve considered it. Let's be serious here; how about three billion? That land’s price goes no further than that.”
“Do you think I'm joking with you?”
Ethan was not playing by the rules at all!
Ethan sighed helplessly as he nodded, “Alright, let's be serious. 5 billion dollars; we really can't go any higher. This is the friendship price I'm offering, considering my good relationship with Louis. Mr. Louis, how much money did you spend to buy this barren land? Was it 1 or 2 billion dollars?”
This time, Ethan had completely driven Frank crazy. He slammed the table and threatened angrily, “I spent 15 billion dollars, okay? Don't give me all this nonsense! You're really pushing my limits.”
Ethan suddenly said, “Son of a b*tch!”
The others stared at Ethan in surprise, and then they heard him speak again with a cold smile.
“To spend 15 billion just for a piece of barren land, I doubt anyone in the world could match you. You’re truly admirable! Since you’re so confident in this land, we won't force you anymore. We can't afford such a high price, so this is goodbye!”
After saying that, Ethan pulled Sarah, who was still in shock. Then, they left without looking back!
“Get out! If you have the guts, don't come back begging!”
Frank was truly infuriated this time, pointing angrily at the door as he almost fainted on the spot.
Despite everything, Ethan actually walked away with Sarah without turning back.
At that moment, Sarah saw him take out the recorder from his pocket and press the stop button.
He was actually recording just now!
