Chapter 620 Uninvited Guest

As the full moon got closer, the hidden sects at the base of the mountain went eerily quiet. Everyone was just waiting for the moon to be at its peak. Honestly, the first ones to check things out were just the low-level members of the sects. If they died, no one would really care.

Word from the Ladies Guild was that the treasure would only show up when the moon was at its fullest. This news made the experts from different sects, already ticked off by the ML Guild, hold back their anger and wait it out.

Davide, who came to help Alessandro guard the base of Vast Mountain, was the most chill. Since he got there, he hadn't had to fight at all. Occasionally, a few idiots would try their luck, but Alessandro and the others handled them easily.

"Davide, something feels off. They all seem to be waiting for something and don't dare to rush up the mountain!" Alessandro said, looking uneasy.

"Tell everyone to stay sharp. Before the full moon, these guys at the base will definitely make a move. Even if we can't stop them, we need to hold them off as long as possible. Once Dirk's done, none of these guys are getting away!" Davide ordered, his face expressionless.

"Got it, I'll spread the word." Alessandro's face turned serious. After agreeing, he quickly went to set up the defenses.

As time went on, Ethan, hidden in the dense forest, lost his smile and looked more serious. Regarding the Moonhowl, tonight's plan couldn't afford any mistakes.

"Mr. Wilson, there's something I've always wanted to ask. You stirred up all this trouble and brought all these hidden sects to Vast Mountain, it can't just be to deal with the ML Guild, right?" Patricia suddenly asked.

"You're after that treasure on Vast Mountain too, aren't you?" Before Ethan could answer, Deborah chimed in, hitting the nail on the head.

"You know me too well!" Ethan grinned at Deborah, clearly admitting it.

Patricia gave a knowing look and didn't say anything more. To her, it made perfect sense for Ethan to be interested in that treasure. If he wasn't, that would be weird.

"When we go up the mountain, you two need to follow my orders. I'll keep you safe. The Magic Circle might trap others, but it won't trap me!" Ethan reminded them seriously, his tone full of confidence.

"Then our lives are in your hands. You'll take good care of us and not use us as bait, right?" Deborah joked.

"I told you not to come, and now you're saying this. I really can't win!" Ethan shook his head, half amused, half exasperated.

"Deborah, stop joking around!" Patricia scolded Deborah helplessly, then turned to Ethan. "Deborah was just kidding, Mr. Wilson. Don't worry, we'll follow your lead and won't do anything reckless."

"Alright, get ready. It's almost time to head up the mountain!" Ethan checked his watch; less than an hour left until the full moon. This was the perfect time to climb Vast Mountain.

Meanwhile, a bunch of experts from the hidden sects at the mountain's base were also starting to head up in groups.

"Mr. Wilson, they're on the move. If we blend in now, we shouldn't draw too much attention!" Kenneth, who had been keeping an eye on things at the base, reported back to Ethan.

"Alright, let's go. We'll follow them up the mountain!" Ethan commanded, and the four of them quickly made their way towards Vast Mountain.

At the same time, Davide, who was stationed halfway up the mountain, saw Alessandro's signal and immediately shouted to the elite disciples around him, "Everyone, get ready! The enemy is about to charge up the mountain. We can't let them through. Follow me and charge down!"

"Charge!" With deafening shouts, a large group of elite ML Guild disciples rushed down the mountain.

By now, Alessandro and his disciples were already clashing with the first wave of experts from the hidden sects. Initially, it was just some martial artists or semi-master level fighters, but soon, master-level experts joined the fray.

The ML Guild didn't have many master-level experts, and they were spread across several nearby mountains to activate the Magic Circle. Right now, only Davide and Alessandro, both master-level experts, could hold the line on Vast Mountain.

Dirk, the leader of the ML Guild, was quietly waiting on Vast Mountain for the Moonhowl to appear. The deafening shouts and sounds of battle at the mountain's base didn't faze him at all.

"Dirk, your disciples are fighting at the base, and you're just chilling here!" A mocking voice suddenly sounded beside Dirk, and a young man in white appeared in his sight.

"Getting past the blockade to reach here shows you've got some skill and guts. But making snarky comments in front of me—are you tired of living?" Dirk was a bit surprised by the newcomer, then spoke with a tone full of hostility.

In Dirk's eyes, this was just a mid-level master, not someone to worry about. "Who are you?" Dirk asked coldly, staring at the newcomer.

"I'm Hugo Franklin, just a nobody." Hugo smirked at Dirk.

"Are you not afraid of death?" Dirk squinted his eyes, clearly ready to kill.  But he didn't act rashly, figuring Hugo must have some backing to show up so boldly. He didn't believe a mid-level master would be dumb enough to rush to his death.

"You won't kill me, and you don't have the guts." Hugo confidently shook his head at Dirk.
