Chapter 487 Brady Invited
Ethan walked up, put his arm around Trevor's shoulder, and teased with a laugh, "I was even thinking of setting you two up, but you already made your move. Quick action.”
"What do you mean?" Trevor asked with a puzzled look.
Jessie rolled her eyes at Ethan, then smiled and waved at the shy Beverly.
Beverly walked over to Jessie, a bit embarrassed.
"Feeling shy now? I just saw you smiling naturally and looking quite happy," Jessie couldn't help but tease Beverly, seeing her shy demeanor.
Hearing this, Beverly felt more embarrassed. But actually, dating was quite normal. Beverly was a modern woman, after all. She just never thought she'd experience love at first sight. She never believed in it before, thinking everything happened too suddenly. However, despite that,, it was real, forcing her to face the issue, which was why she felt so shy.
"Aren't you going to take everyone to the dining room for dinner?" Jessie glared at Ethan and urged him impatiently.
"With Jessie backing you up, I'll let you off for now. I'll ask you later!" Ethan pouted disinterestedly, picked up Camila, and led Chloe and the others to the dining room.
Trevor rubbed his bald head, looking utterly confused, clearly still not understanding what was going on.
Beverly and Jessie walked slowly at the back.
After teasing Beverly for a while, Jessie suddenly asked seriously, "Beverly, do you really like Trevor?"
"I think so," Beverly blushed and answered somewhat guiltily.
"There's nothing to be embarrassed about if you like him. But I didn't expect you two to develop feelings so quickly after just meeting!" Jessie looked pleased, though her tone carried a hint of surprise.
"I never thought this would happen either," Beverly muttered softly.
"But there's something I must remind you. You should know about Trevor's past. He just left the monastery and has never experienced worldly matters. He knows nothing when it comes to love. You'll need to be patient and teach him slowly," Jessie lovingly stroked Beverly's hair and advised earnestly.
"Thanks your reminder, but I already noticed. I used to have clear standards for a partner, but after meeting him, I forgot all those standards. I don't even know why I like him!" Beverly looked at Trevor's back in the distance, her eyes filled with a hint of a smile.
"Who can say for sure about feelings? Maybe Trevor himself doesn't know how he feels about you," Jessie said with a bitter smile.
"He's such a blockhead!" Beverly remarked."Are you calling me?" Trevor suddenly turned around and looked at Beverly curiously.
"Yes, I'm calling you a blockhead," Beverly didn't expect Trevor to have such sharp ears. She rolled her eyes and huffed.
Trevor nodded woodenly, as if it was only natural.
"Look at him." Beverly couldn't help but laugh.
Jessie also chuckled, thinking she might need to have a good talk with Trevor or teach him how to interact with women properly.
Beverly and Trevor's lightning-fast romance became a topic of conversation during dinner, especially for Sarah, who loved to tease Beverly, leaving Trevor looking confused throughout the meal.
The warm and harmonious atmosphere made Ethan feel at ease, sweeping away any lingering gloom within him.
After dinner, Ethan suddenly received a call from Brady. Seeing the caller ID, he frowned and thought, 'Couldn't he resist contacting me?'
"Why aren't you answering the phone?" Jessie asked, frowning as Ethan's phone kept ringing.
"It's Brady. What do you think he wants to talk about now?" Ethan asked, then smiled playfully.
"Is it because of what you said in the auditorium this afternoon?" Jessie paused for a moment, then reminded him.
"Unlikely. Brady should have more self-control than that." Ethan shook his head slowly but still didn't answer the call.
After three minutes of silence, Ethan's phone rang again, still Brady's number.
Ethan exchanged a glance with Jessie before answering the call.
"I want to talk to you." As soon as the call connected, Brady's voice came through the phone.
"About what? I'm all ears." Ethan grinned, but his eyes were cold.
"It's hard to explain over the phone. Why don't you come to my place? We can talk face-to-face," Brady suggested.
"Alright, since you invited me, how could I refuse? Wait for me; I'll be right there," Ethan said and hung up the phone.
"Mom, you stay with them. I'm going to see what Brady is up to," Ethan told Jessie and then left the house.
Ethan couldn't remember the last time he had been to Brady's place, at least not since his parents' accident. Even when his parents were alive, it was rare for him to go to Brady's residence.
There was no one else in Brady's yard, just Brady sitting alone on a chair with his eyes closed, resting.
Ethan walked in and sat down on a chair next to him, watching him with interest.
"Have you decided to go to the cemetery after the family head's succession ceremony?" Brady asked softly, still with his eyes closed.
"I thought you were going to sleep forever." Ethan didn't answer but chuckled.
"You'd love for me to sleep forever, wouldn't you? You'd be the happiest if I died today." Brady finally opened his eyes, glanced at Ethan, and smiled indifferently.
"Didn't expect you to be so self-aware. But wouldn't you feel the same? If I suddenly died today, you'd be the happiest, right?" Ethan asked with a cold smile.
"Maybe. But you haven't answered my question." Brady smiled and brought the topic back.
"Talking like this won't get us anywhere. Why bother?" Ethan squinted his eyes.
"I'm a straightforward person. Honestly, you saw your father's burial with your own eyes. What more is there to doubt?" Brady reminded seriously.
"Sometimes, what you see isn't necessarily the truth. The real truth might only be revealed after opening the coffin." Ethan stared at Brady seriously.
