Chapter 423 The Wilson Family
Jessie laughed and left the kitchen, trying to comfort Trevor. "Don't worry. Who in the family would really make fun of you? You've already left the monastery. Just see the past as a joke. I'll introduce you to a nice girl someday!"
"I... I haven't even thought about that!" Trevor was stunned. He didn't leave the monastery to get married and have kids!
"He just left the monastery, why rush? Maybe one day he'll bring back several girls!" Ethan teased.
"He's not like you. Trevor, don't follow his example!" Jessie glanced at Chloe and the others, feeling a mix of emotions. She turned back to the kitchen to continue her work.
Now, not only Trevor but also Ethan, Chloe, and the others blushed, looking at each other awkwardly.
Before dinner, another guest arrived after Jessie called to invite them.
When Jayden walked in, Ethan was a bit surprised but figured Jessie must have invited him.
"Jayden, perfect timing. Join us for dinner!" Ethan treated Jayden like family, speaking to him warmly.
"Ethan, I only knew you were back because of Jessie's call. I came because I need to discuss something with you." Jayden seemed urgent, glancing at the others before speaking softly.
"Let's go upstairs and talk in the study." Sensing something, Ethan led Jayden upstairs.
"Alright, what's up?" Ethan asked directly once they were inside.
"Here's the thing: the news about you becoming the head of the Wilson family has been out for about a week. Your succession ceremony is in another week. When Jessie told me, I was happy for you. She also asked me to rally support from the Wilson family." Jayden paused, clearly indicating things hadn't gone as planned.
"I'm not worried about Beverly. What about Dashiell?" Ethan asked, getting to the point.
"How did you know I'd go to Dashiell?" Jayden was surprised.
"Dashiell, next to Beverly, is the most influential in the Wilson family. Many follow his lead. Get him on your side, and you've got the whole Wilson clan. Even if you didn't think of this, my mom would have reminded you!" Ethan explained seriously.
"You both said the same thing. She did tell me to contact Dashiell first to gauge his stance. But he's not easy to sway and has been evasive." Jayden smiled wryly.
"Dashiell and Brady aren't on the same page. Winning him over doesn't matter to me," Ethan chuckled.
"But if Dashiell doesn't take a stand, others in the Wilson family might follow his lead. The real problem isn't Dashiell; it's Logan. He's rallying support to disrupt your succession ceremony!" Jayden revealed, leaving Ethan stunned.
Ethan had almost forgotten about Logan. Who would've thought the timid Logan would dare oppose him?
"Is he looking for trouble?" Ethan frowned.
"I'm not sure, but if he causes a scene, it could mess up your ceremony and create chaos in the Wilson family. If you act against him now, people might badmouth you," Jayden warned.
"I forgot about Zephyr! If Logan's acting up, Zephyr's probably behind it. I bet some of those opposing me are connected to Zephyr, right?" Ethan asked.
"Now that you mention it, it's likely! Zephyr isn't openly involved, but many of these people have ties to him, especially Logan," Jayden agreed.
"Is Zephyr trying to mess with me?" Ethan squinted and sneered.
"It's sneaky but effective. With Brady's silent approval, the opposition will grow. If we let this continue, it could be disastrous," Jayden said, understating the severity.
"Jayden, how many of those opposing me are really in it? Are they unbreakable?" Ethan asked seriously.
"Do you have a plan?" Jayden's eyes lit up.
"Most Wilson family members don't care who becomes the head. They only care about their own interests. Whoever offers them more benefits will get their support," Ethan pointed out.
Jayden knew Ethan was right. The head position was out of reach for most family members; they were naturally concerned about their own interests.
"But if we try to buy them off, it could open a Pandora's Box!" Jayden shook his head.
"No, I won't spend a penny to buy them off. I'll reclaim all the Wilson family's land and company assets!" Ethan sneered.
"What do you mean? Doing that would upset not just the opposition but even Beverly!" Jayden was shocked. The Wilson family's assets were scattered among various members, providing stability for years.
Reclaiming all the land and assets would disrupt this stability, wouldn't it?
