Chapter 564 Composed and Unruffled

"Ethan was with me all night. I swear, he didn't do it," Angela blurted out to Norman, her voice shaky with anxiety.

"Yeah, I get it, Angela. I believe you. But my belief doesn't mean squat. We need proof. Everyone needs to believe it," Norman sighed, looking defeated.

"We've got the hotel records. Does that count?" Ethan asked, dead serious.

Norman's face twisted into a weird expression.

Angela's cheeks turned red. She wanted to smack Ethan for spilling the beans, but he was right. The hotel records were proof, maybe the only proof they had.

"I know, just the hotel records won't cut it. Those big shots can check that stuff easily. And with my skills, I could take someone out even if I'm miles away, right?" Ethan added, trying to be proactive.

"Exactly. So, have you thought about how to get out of this mess?" Norman nodded, a bitter smile on his face.

"I haven't really thought about it. I didn't do it, so why should I care what others think? I mean, I don't have proof I didn't do it, but do you have proof I did?" Ethan chuckled, totally unfazed.

Angela and Leo's eyes lit up. They knew Ethan was right. Conviction needed evidence too, and given Ethan's special status, they needed rock-solid proof.

"The other side's gunning for you. You just gonna sit back and let them mess with you?" Norman shook his head, smiling bitterly again.

"As long as they keep making moves, they'll slip up eventually. Someone's trying to frame me, but it's not working. It's just a minor annoyance. If I ignore them, they'll be the ones sweating, right?" Ethan said confidently, grinning.

"You're right. The investigators don't have any solid proof linking you to this, which is why they haven't come after you yet," Norman nodded slowly, agreeing with Ethan's take.

"Then it's settled. No matter what tricks they pull, I'm just gonna sit back and watch the show," Ethan shrugged, totally chill.

"But until this blows over, you'll have to stick around Everglow for a few more days," Norman reminded him calmly.

"I figured that before I came. It's not like I have to rush back to Novaria. If needed, I'll bring my family here. Everglow's one of my strongholds. But if I do that, a lot of people are gonna lose sleep," Ethan said. After the RD Club incident last night, plenty of folks were already losing sleep over it.

"If you really stick around Everglow, I might lose some sleep too," Norman pointed at Ethan, laughing.

"So, Ethan's in the clear for now?" Angela let out a big sigh of relief.

"Should be fine for now, unless they dig up some dirt on Ethan. Even if there's heat, I'll handle it. But until this blows over, Ethan should stay in Everglow to avoid giving anyone ammo. And Angela, you should take a long leave too, just to keep things cool," Norman said seriously.

"I'd love to give my wife a break. If she wasn't up for it, I'd want her to quit or find something easier," Ethan jumped in, showing his support.

"I don't want to just sit around and be your trophy wife. Things are fine as they are. You can't always be with me, and I need to have my own thing going on," Angela replied, a bit annoyed.

"Alright, you two stay sharp during this time," Norman advised, looking at them meaningfully.

"No need to remind me, I'm always on my toes," Ethan chuckled.

"Leo, stick around and chat with me. You two can head out," Norman said, surprising Leo and making him super happy.

"Alright, we're outta here." Ethan patted Leo's shoulder and left with Angela.

Norman's guards drove them to the city center. Ethan had them stop at Ashford Villa and sent the guards back.

"Why are you back in Everglow, causing such a scene already?" Dorian asked, meeting them at the villa entrance, looking exasperated.

"What can I say? Just bad luck," Ethan sighed.

"That's not it. Feels like someone's setting you up," Dorian frowned.

Two ordinary folks dying wouldn't be a big deal, but the ones who died and went missing had some serious connections, so this was a big deal.

Dorian knew all about last night's chaos and was still amazed at Ethan's knack for trouble. He didn't expect a call from Ethan, wanting to catch up.

"Let's find a spot to chat. I doubt your family would be thrilled to see me," Ethan said, glancing at the villa behind Dorian.

"Alright," Dorian agreed, feeling a bit helpless. Caspar was okay, but Kenny saw Ethan as an enemy. Even now, just mentioning Ethan made Kenny's eyes flash with hostility.

In a downtown coffee shop, Dorian looked at the quiet Angela and joked, "I really admire you. Not only did you hit master level, but your other achievements are off the charts."

Ethan felt a sharp pinch on his waist from Angela. "Not my intention," he said, looking helpless, making Dorian roll his eyes.
