Chapter 284 Hubert Had Some Problem
Upon hearing Roy's words, Ethan burst into laughter.
This inexplicable laughter immediately caused Roy to furrow his brows and ask suspiciously, "Mr. Wilson, what is so funny? If you feel upset that Hubert has offended you, you can slap him to vent your anger!"
"Hubert hasn't offended me. He couldn't possibly offend me; at most, he just indulged in some harsh words. Hubert's biggest mistake is pestering Lyra!" Ethan shrugged nonchalantly and then walked over to the trembling Hubert, giving him a casual slap on the shoulder.
Hubert's legs shook, nearly causing him to kneel on the ground.
Roy's words were clear to him, even suggesting that Ethan should hit him to vent his anger, which showed how formidable Ethan's background was. It was clear Roy was wary of upsetting Ethan.
Ethan's slap nearly scared him to death!
"Do you know who Lyra is? The second daughter of the Miller family in Everglow City. Is she someone you can covet? If Lyra liked you, it would be one thing, but since she doesn't, and you still pester her, you must have a death wish," Ethan asked coldly, squinting his eyes.
"Mr. Wilson, it's all a misunderstanding. Hubert is mischievous. I believe he has no improper intentions towards Miss Miller." Roy's eyelids twitched suddenly. He naturally knew Lyra's status but didn't expect Hubert to dare to bug her.
If this matter were settled here, it would be fine, but if the Miller family decided to make an issue of it, even with Dorian backing him, Hubert's fate would be quite miserable!
Hubert was his only son, so he couldn't bear to see him suffer.
"Roy, there's no need to be so tense. I want to remind Hubert and his group that there are some people that will forever be out of their reach, and there are some people whom they cannot afford to offend! Today, we're in a good mood and won't hold it against them, but you should be very clear about the consequences otherwise!" Ethan warned coldly, squinting his eyes.
Roy's heart tightened! He pondered, 'Lucian caused a series of uproars because he had hit Isolde. Lucian, a member of the Ashford family, had suffered so much, let alone Hubert. If the Miller family wants to cause trouble, I really won't be able to find a way out for Hubert! Would Dorian be willing to pay the price to protect Hubert?'
"Of course, as long as you can calm down, I guarantee that Hubert will never appear in front of Miss Miller again. I will immediately arrange for him to transfer schools and leave Everglow City. I will strictly discipline him!" Roy quickly nodded and smiled.
There was no other way. When he first saw Ethan, he could still rely on Dorian's backing to be tough because he was representing Dorian.
But now, he was doing it for Hubert, and in this matter, he didn't even dare mention Dorian!
"You are sensible. In that case, I won't bother pursuing the previous matters. I hope you can properly discipline Hubert!" Ethan didn't have any intention of making things difficult and reminded me with a smile.
"Sure. Thank you, Mr. Wilson and Miss Miller, for giving me this face. How about I treat you both to a meal to express my apology? What do you think?" Upon hearing this, Roy finally felt relieved.
He thought, 'No matter what, as long as Ethan indicates that he wouldn't pursue the matter further, it is good!'
"No need for a meal. We originally came to attend his birthday party and to make things clear to him so he wouldn't bug Lyra anymore. But it seems we've lost the mood. Let's leave it at that!" Ethan, however, shook his head and declined.
"Alright then, I apologize once again on behalf of Hubert," Roy said with an awkward, bitter smile.
"Oh, by the way, I prepared a gift for Hubert before I came! It's nothing valuable, but since we're here, we should still give the gift," Ethan suddenly remembered, pulling out the 'small gift' he had prepared earlier from his pocket.
Lyra had almost forgotten about this, but she didn't expect Ethan to be so cunning, presenting such a peculiar gift in public under these circumstances.
"How can we accept this?" Roy was bewildered by Ethan's actions, unsure of his intentions. He wanted to refuse, but Ethan directly shoved the 'small gift' into Roy's hands.
"There's no need to be embarrassed. What I gave Hubert isn't anything valuable, just some medicine!" Ethan explained with a smile.
"Medicine?" This left not only Roy but also Hubert himself stunned.
"The first time I saw Hubert the other day, I noticed he had a condition. If not treated in time, it could affect his happiness for the rest of his life!" Ethan sighed with a look of helplessness as if Hubert had some terminal illness.
"You're talking nonsense! There's nothing wrong with my health; how could I be sick?" Hubert immediately retorted.
"Shut up!" Roy scolded angrily, then nervously asked Ethan, "Mr. Wilson, please speak plainly. What exactly is wrong with Hubert?"
Roy was well aware of Ethan's medical skills. The recent events involving the Ashford family were all due to Ethan's mysterious medical abilities. If Ethan's words were true, he had to take them seriously.
"Well, it's not really appropriate to speak plainly," Ethan said, looking troubled.
"Nothing could be more important than his life. Please, Mr. Wilson, tell us what illness Hubert has," Roy pleaded sincerely.
"Alright, I'll tell you, but don't blame me!" Ethan reluctantly nodded.
"Is Hubert's condition that hard to talk about?" Roy was puzzled, sensing something was off.
"In fact, you just need to look at the gift I gave Hubert to know what's wrong with him!" Ethan teased.
All eyes turned to the small gift box in Roy's hands. Roy never expected the birthday gift to be a box of Viagra. When he hurriedly opened the gift box and saw the packaging, his face turned grim.
The onlookers were in an uproar, and soon, everyone was pointing and whispering about Hubert.
"Mr. Wilson, what do you mean by this?" Roy exploded in anger, glaring at Ethan.
"I told you not to make me say it, but you insisted. I'm not joking; Hubert really has a problem. If you don't believe me, take him to the hospital for a check-up right away!" Ethan said with a look of grievance, helplessly advising him.
"Fine, then I must thank Mr. Wilson for the advice! I'll take Hubert away immediately!" Roy gritted his teeth in anger but had no way to deal with Ethan, so he could only leave with a sullen face.
If he stayed any longer, he feared Ethan would drive him to madness!
"Hubert, haven't you embarrassed yourself enough? Hurry up and leave!" Seeing Hubert still standing there dumbfounded, Roy was enraged. He grabbed Hubert by the ear and dragged him towards the car, with Hubert's cries of pain echoing behind them.
