Chapter 488 Bold Speculation
The two of them just stared at each other for several minutes.
Ethan's expression remained unchanged, his eyes fixed, indicating his determination.
"Looks like I can't stop you even if I wanted to," Brady sighed deeply, his tone tinged with a hint of melancholy.
"So? You're not going to stop me?" Ethan raised an eyebrow and asked with a smile.
"No, I'm not. If you want to open the coffin, go ahead. I hope the answer won't disappoint you." Brady shook his head helplessly.
"The way you are now, you're really making me question life. This isn't the Brady I know." Ethan shrugged indifferently, surprised at how well Brady could act.
"Actually, we could work together," Brady looked at Ethan seriously and suggested.
"So you had Logan say those things to me?" Ethan chuckled noncommittally.
"That's right. I didn't mean anything else, and I just wanted to tell you that some people are eager for us to fight. Why do something that would please our enemies and hurt our friends?" Brady said as if it were obvious.
"That's what you think. To me, you're not a friend, and Zephyr may not be an enemy," Ethan responded as if he had heard a joke, bluntly refuting him.
"So you believe your father's situation is related to me." Brady's brow furrowed tightly.
"If you want me to believe you, at least give me a reason. Besides, Herman, who should have been dead long ago, is alive and well. Shouldn't you give me an explanation?" Ethan straightforwardly questioned him.
"You found him?" A flash of surprise crossed Brady's eyes.
"To be precise, I only found traces of him. I can't confirm his exact location yet." Ethan didn't elaborate.
"You suspect I released him?" Brady's face turned grim.
"You can give me a reason to believe you." Ethan shrugged .
Staring intently at Ethan for a while, Brady finally withdrew his gaze helplessly. Ethan's assertiveness far exceeded his expectations.
"I don't need any reason. The truth will come out eventually. It seems we have nothing more to discuss," Brady sighed.
"We never had much to talk about. You coming to me now is unnecessary. If you want me to stop investigating Matthew or Herman, you're mistaken. I will get to the bottom of this," Ethan said, then turned and walked out of the courtyard without looking back.
"Are you forcing me to fight with you?" Brady suddenly shouted as he stared at Ethan's back.
Ethan had just reached the gate when he stopped, turned back with a grin, and responded, "You're a master level. Killing me would be easy for you. Whether we go to fight or not is up to you."
With that, Ethan turned and disappeared from Brady's sight.
A long time later, Herman came out of the house and stood behind Brady.
"His attitude is quite clear. Even if we try to make peace, it will be in vain," Herman sighed helplessly.
"Young people are always so hot-headed!" Brady remarked.
"If he wants to investigate, let him. Matthew's death has nothing to do with us," Herman suddenly changed the subject.
"It's not that simple. Do you know why I insisted on making Ethan the heir of the Wilson family?" Brady suddenly asked seriously.
Ethan was driven out of the Wilson family and the Cloud Group because he refused the heir position.
"I asked you before, but you didn't tell me," Herman frowned and said.
"Yes, but now I think I should tell you," Brady said, then suddenly fell silent, his mouth still moving as if speaking.
Herman's eyes widened in shock. Clearly, Brady was using some sound transmission technique, and only Herman could hear him.
"How could this be? Are you sure?" Herman asked incredulously, clearly hearing something astonishing.
"At first, I was just suspicious, but later I found many clues that confirmed my guess. Matthew's incident might be directly related to what I said. That's why I wanted Ethan to be the heir," Brady continued, not hiding his voice this time.
Herman fell into a long silence, unable to recover from the shock for a while.
After returning from Brady's courtyard, Ethan went to Jessie's room.
Seeing Ethan return, Jessie immediately asked, "What did he say to you?"
"He seemed anxious. First, he tried to persuade me to reconcile, then he threatened me with fight," Ethan sat down opposite Jessie and said directly.
"Brady must have some unspeakable secret. Even if he didn't do it, he should know something about your father's situation!" Jessie nodded thoughtfully.
"I originally suspected he might be related to Cross Christianity, but now I'm not so sure." Ethan frowned in frustration.
"Take it step by step. Some things need to be thoroughly investigated before we can draw conclusions," Jessie sighed helplessly.
"If the person in the coffin isn't my dad..." Ethan hesitated and asked.
"If it's not him, it means he's still alive. Either he disappeared involuntarily or voluntarily," Jessie said straightforwardly, unlike Ethan, who was full of concerns.
"But judging from Brady's attitude, he's either dead or disappeared voluntarily. The possibility of involuntary disappearance is very small." Ethan shook his head slowly.
"What are you trying to say?" Jessie frowned and asked.
"Mom, do you think we might have been wrong all along? Maybe the person actually related to Cross Christianity is my dad?" Ethan finally voiced his long-suppressed thought.
If Herman could mysteriously disappear, Matthew might be the same. The key was why he would do this. Ethan needed a reason to convince himself. If there was no reason, he at least needed to follow Matthew's trail to confirm his life or death.
That night, for everyone in the Wilson family, was destined to be a sleepless night. Because in one more day, the Wilson family would welcome a new head, and everything would change, affecting all of them.
